Good luck xD It is most likely not going to happen because that would be to force people into playing hardcore if they want to experience all game content.
exactly ! It won't happen

They already would have to play hardcore to experience all game content
Might get people more excited about hardcore maybe? How is that a bad thing? But honestly I'm just throwing around a thought. Maybe they like it, maybe they don't...
Nahh, for who's don't like hardcore (many people) they will miss content, it's not fair... hardcore don't have more content, it's just a gameplay twist that your dead is radical.
As much as I'd miss out on the extra eye candy as a softcore player I'm all for exclusive harcore killing moves.
I can already see people letting bosses kill themselves in softcore just so they can witness these killing blows. It is however true that the same could be accomplished in single player hardcore by backing up your character.
Ultimately I think it comes down to the meaning of death. While I'm sure there will be some form of penalty for dying in Diablo 3 that penalty doesn't come anywhere close to that of hardcore. Death REALLY means something in hardcore and I'm all for embellishing it.
In the end if my hardcore character died I'd want it to be as epic as possible. I'd want to remeber the moment that I daringly charged my foe...
One option is to enable these deaths when you play single player. It is not going to make a difference like in multiplayer when you must get back to the fight quickly and don't have time for a long death scene.
I don't think you should be forced to watch your own death from a lengthy killing blows in either MP or SP. Pending the game type (SC/HC) you should be able to accept the death penalty and continue immediately.
I do however think you touched upon a very good point though: How are these killing blows going to affect gameplay itself. Lengthy killing blows whereby a foe is not attacking other players will also inherently affect the game. I can certainly see this as a system that could be abused in an MP game.
On the other hand, as sombedoy who has extensive time in both SP & MP Diablo 2 (and 1 for that matter), I was always dissapointed by Blizzard's decision to make exclusive content between these communities. I've always felt that all content available online should have been made available for the SP community (in diablo 2 this was specifically runewords & events).
I have to admit that I'd be equally dissapointed if Blizzard made content exclusive to SP. In consequence I suppose that many softcore players feel the same in respect to the softcore/hardcore divide.
Ultimately however I think that if ANY single community were to get these extra killing blows it should be the HC community. As a side note this system is also less likely a target for abuse in HC due to the inherent finalty of death.
As much as i don't like hardcore, I have to admit that a killing blow's real and full effect can only be translated through hardcore mode.
But I would really want to experience the same thing on softcore as well...
My objective side is in conflict with my selfish what-i-wanna-see side...:P
I bet after the first week after D3 release, a guy comes up wiz a vid on you-tube on all boss killing blows...
But i guess watching it happen to your own character will be a lot more painful and (in a sadistic sort of way) interesting...
Blizzard will never work on something big like that to only be seen by a small amount of people. If they'll implement a big animation part and they're proud of it, they'll want that any people see the work they done.
@emilemil1- dude u are seeing a problem where there is no problem. What i meant was that the full impact of a death blow is obviously when...u die of it...
Sure it will be cool that when the boss has just ripped ur head, that u appear a minute later to kill it...
But its just...stupid. Cool to watch the death blow...but the death blow itself becomes stupid...coz...guess what? U are still ALIVE!!
N I will never say that death blows should be strictly reserved for hardcore coz i wanna see them in softcore!!!
But death blows in softcore will definitely take off their edge...
In terms of SC gameplay it will probably have a greater affect on you to see a party member go down from a killing blow than yourself.
Yes but that's a condition for going multiplayer. U are simply ignoring single player.
Anyway what effect will it be even in multiplayer? I'll tell u-
Mwahahaha...John got his head bitten off. Hahahahaa....
U know why?...coz a minute later...Johny is BACK!
Another possible reaction while am at-
Hey check that out. Coool...Johny is getting his head ripped off...
Naa....I already seen that, lets just keep hacking at the boss while he does his killing blow stuff. If the boss is invulnerable during the death blow...lets just heal in the meantime...
*sigh*
*I wonder how many times I'll have to explain the same stuff*
I never read anything like that. I didn't know. Care to cite the source?
Anyway my argument was based on the assumption that players could see the death blow of a party member and that they would be affected as implied by Axam.
Anyway if u only intended to correct me abt death blows being seen or not, cool. Thanx.
Of course! I should have understood. My deepest and most sincere apologies.
U know English is not my native language so u must forgive me.
Seriously DID U READ WHAT U POSTED?????????????
What was the point of correcting me in my reply of Axam's post? N u just posted like u were making a statement...
N now suddenly u are redefining 'can'...Man u give me a headache...
I'm agree, Slow motion for dead in HC is great... because you have only one death per character and it bring nothing more than softcore... and slow motion are already programming (slow time from sorc) so why not, if that involve no real big work..
A good movie, and it's got a neat set of survival rules that strangely apply very well to Hardcore Mode from Diablo2.
#1 Cardio, nothing worse than not being able to run out when you got a couple of death knights charging at you with fanaticism on them. The slow ones always die first.
#2 The double Tap. In other words, makes sure you killed the bastard before moving on. You surely don't want that supposedly "dead" caster put iron maiden on your level 80 HC Barb.
#3 Beware of bathrooms. Don't get caught with your pants down, but even more important, don't get yourself into a small room with one way out.
#8 Get a kickass partner. Nothing better than a Barb tanking all the damage while your serving it to em' from afar.
#17 Don't be a Hero. Don't be the guy who teleports to Baal every game, or the fool who goes in an unsafe TP to Throne of Baal during Baal Runs. Remember, there is no second chance.
#18 Limber Up! In other words, be fully prepared for anything. To be physically and metally ready for any situation is better than being caught offguard, panic and make a critical mistake.
#22 When in doubt, know your way out. This is just plain obvious. You don't go rushing in somewhere without an exit. Always make a TP to fall back to.
#32 Enjoy the little things. Every drop is gold, don't waste it. It might mean the difference between a low end or high end armor that may save your life. And take pleasure in every victory, for you are still alive!

I saw this the same way: Killing blows are more of an easter egg than "content".
I agree here too although possibly not on the definition of the term "content".
