i will most def be online. I also have 1 week of paid vacation i will be using. Had to use 1 week for Wotlk... If it comes out after august 2010 tho i will have 3 weeks. lol i can hear the dongs already.
First I'll take all my remaining time off sarting from the day BEFORE the game is released. This day is going to be used for 2 things:
First it will be used to stock up on food/snacks/caffeine and clear myself of any outstanding responsibilities for the next week or so. Secondly it will be used to shift my day over so that my "morning" coincides with the midnight release of the game. This will help me maximize the amount of time I will be able to play before succumbing to much over-rated sleep...
After picking up the game at mignight with all my friends we'll all race home and create characters. We'll immediately log onto battle.net and create ladder characters reserving the names we want. I will be most definitely play a softcore wizard first.
I'll inocently create a gamne and talk to all the NPC's in town while I wait for the rest of the group. At this point we'll be playfully teasing the slowest person to get home and install. Not long after (maybe 30 seconds or so) anxiety will start to build... I'll then decide to wait at the edge of town... then just outside town... Just another step... Finally a monster will aggro and I'll have no choice but to defend myself...
Once everyone is installed and ready to go I'll be on the receiving end of a few remarks but it won't last long as they'll just want to play. After playing for about 30 minutes I'll be in total regret for having played with my friends because they'll either be racing through the story skipping dialog and content or asking me to wait for half an hour while they check their equipement, walk their dog, pick up their sister from work, or ask me to stop playing because they're tired....

I want that feeling of not knowing. I've never been, but think about a soldier in war. They'd be shitting themselves since they're on hardcore and don't know the place either. I want that same shitting feeling
As much as I think this would be an awesome way of experiencing the game I'm worried that I won't get to experience the game.
Also as has been proven in our last bout of Diablo 2 hardcore I'm much more of a fast paced risk taker than my friends. This combined with the fact that I play a squishy character (sorc/wizard) usually means I'm the one who's "deeds of honor will be remembered".
Were I to die in our first play through it would not only suck for me but my entire party.
I would love to be able to say that I will devote a whole week to only playing this game but alas real life intervenes. I only hope I am done with school (dec, 2010) when D3 comes out so I only have my wife, career and dogs to get in the way of gameplay time.

I will probably start playing with the first ranged character thats available. Otherwise Ill do the sorc because the other person ill prob play with will prob be a barb.
Ill be peeing my pants in excitment yelling at my computer to install it faster, then drool all over my key board and yell. "yessssssssssss"

I'll make one of each character and level them equally in increments of 10. I'm going to try to be the first person with 5 max level characters. That's hella grindage right there.

that aught to take a lot of patience there..
i miss the olden days where i could get away with playing these games for douzens of hours straight. This would be one of those games i wouldnt mind doing that..
Ill probably try several of the characters too to get a feel for all of them.
Battle not with monsters lest you become one.
