Everybody is going back and forth on energy sysems on the class-by-class basis they are on right now. Sure, maybe it would be a good idea, but maybe it wont?
Here is why I myself think, is the ONE MAIN REASON that in the end, Blizzard will need a uniform energy.
Diablo III Enemies/monsters/demons/undead WHATEVER.
All the enemies for the whole time, have had "mana" as well as the characters. EVERY ENEMIE THAT CAN DO ANYTHING MAGICAL OR ANY SKILL WHATSOEVER HAS MANA. Would blizzard want a thousand energy types for all the dirrefent enemies that use magic? I dont think so.
Honestly though, there is a way to fix that. All enemies use something like "Magik", "Dark Magik" or some uniform energy for enemies, how how practical is it to use one enrgy for a thousand demons, when five heroes cant use one energy? I think this reason alone could be good grounds on making the system symetrical for all, and again
A drink, one drink for all, fill your goblet o' mana!

Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.
Its factual that they HAVE to otheriwwse how can mana steal effects work? They steal a percentage of the enemies mana.
Umm.. are you talking about damage converted to mana?
Either way they will need to think of something because there are enemies in Diablo that have mana steal abilities. I guess they will probably end up cutting out mana steal abilities from enemies?

Watching 240 guys talk trash about cavaliers is like two retards having a slapfight over a sippy cup.
Im talking about on weapons, steal hp/mp % by hit. That is something I dotnt hink theyll be doing away with. And yea, personally I do think that enemies have mana, and using so much should exhasut skills, it works fine on other games, but the counter to that, which is still easy, giving all enemies some type of physical attack.
And as for bosses? There BOSSES for a reason, why cant a bamf have bamf mana regain? Thats the simple, perfect solution to bosses, and even so, ESPECIALLY bosses have ALWAYS hade physical and magical abilities. Andariel. Tal Rasha. Mephisto. Diablo. Baal. You really cant make a great boss without the perfect physical and magical attack combination

Monsters/bosses never had Mana in Diablo 2. The mana stealing is just a fake, you gain mana from your damage, not the mana pool of the monster. Or a monster would difinatly run out of mana after a while, when everybody knows it doesn't happen. Blizzard never implemented this, it's not even a hidden math. THEY DONT HAVE ANY MANA. So you whole point is biased.
Also, for mana stealing, it's a good thing some character has different energy types. Like a certain class that don't use "mana", he couldn't get the benefit from mana stolen % bonus because it would be overpowered (theory) that brings a better diversity in the classes.

Mana steal from monsters doesn't benefit the monster, it's just a different way to give the player a challenge, making the spell casters have a hard time. It's the same as Stamina steal. Monsters don't have stamina either.
Monster has:
Fixed HP
Fixed Damage
Fixed Speed
Occasionnaly, spells, that deal a Fixed amount of Damage and that a FREE of use, so they can use it for 3 years, just test it out on a Fallen Shaman with a lvl 90+ After an hour, the monster will keep spaming is Fireball and revives. They don't have mana, and the spells don't cost any mana.

i can see your point... and, i have said tooo many times around that i just would like simple mana better! but, im just kida tired to talk about it and keep guessing or wishing... dont really care anymore... Blizzard could bring a globe with a cow inside that i wouldnt boder...
I'm sorry, but I am the only one that doesn't have any idea what the hell we're talking about here? Thousand energy types? For enemies? What? How? Who? I'm completely confused.
The way I see it is that only certain characters can utilize mana leech or have their own mana stolen (barb can't, for instance), and they may get different benefits from it. Multiple mana formats can be used for enemies but I doubt Blizzard would go there. Easier and more classic is to make enemies mana-less...

Someone misread what I posted.
Certain monsters have mana steal - but in Diablo III not all characters are going to be using Mana, so I wonder how there going to re-create the monsters having to deal with characters with different energy types.
Will they have monsters that just drain "energy" as a substance in general?
Seems like an issue with the Barbarians new energy system..

I think you overcomplicated the system that they made. There will be 5 different energy types, one for each class. Period.
When I say energy type, I mean the "thing" that you are taxed when you use a skill. Like Emilemil1 said, monsters don't use mana, they just use attacks based on how their AI was programmed. It is possible that they can only cast a skill after a certain interval of time, but that over complicates it. Monsters most likely choose attacks based on a percentage of chance. 25% for baal to use the blue "v" energy attack, 50% for him to kick you. Based on what you do, the percentages change. If you run, he might have a 60% to use that attack. Back on topic.
We know that a barb doesn't need mana potions because he has no mana. The barbarian is self sustaining, but there might be "stamina" potions that only drop for barbs. Maybe there are only mana potions that drop for sorc's..etc.
The monsters and characters are very different.
