It'd be uber cool if we get to visit the High Heavens in D3 or the potential expansion packs for D3. I'm not very knowledgeable about the direction D3's storyline will take, but it will definitely be interesting if the expansion revolves around defending the gates of the High Heavens against the invading minions of the Burning Hells. We first need to look for the ultimate weapon (similar to Archangel Michael's sword) against Hell in the World of Sanctuary, hidden by Inarius at the time of its creation. I'd love that kind of storyline.
i don't.
i'd rather we get to attack and retake or conquer it instead
This. I can just picture fighting in partially conquered Heaven territory, catching up to the heart of the invading Hell force, with weirder and weirder environments as you go deeper. Would make for a great expansion pack.

Yeah that ain't going to happen, so don't hold your horses on that one.

Both heaven and hell are, relatively, evil, I figured. Archangel Tyrael was the only one who wished to give humanity a second chance.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

Do you happen to work for the Blizzard team dedicated to D3's storyline?
Nope, but through the use of my fantastic skills of deduction I've solid reasoning behind it.
First of all, an ultimate weapon cannot exist to destroy Hell. That would indicate there is a stated end to this conflict, which has thus far appeared to be the exact opposite. The war between Heaven and Hell is a perpetual conflict as old as time itself, and who knows what a victory would do?
Second, if an ultimate weapon exists if would mean that someone had the power to create it. Thus far, we haven't seen evidence of any such beings anywhere in the games or books. Inarius certainly didn't have that power, and if he'd had it, he wouldn't have made a weapon and hid it away.

Neither Heaven nor Hell can really "win". Trag'Oul and the students he has at this point in the story would see to that, for it is the nature of their existence to maintain the Balance.
What a clever plot device to ensure the continuous release of Diablo games for generations to come.

Actually, Trag'Oul doesn't have anything to do with the permanent war Heaven and Hell are in. Trag'Oul only tries his best to stop Heaven and Hell to take over Sanctuary, he has no power over them in their own realm. If, theoretically, Heaven were to invade Hell and kill every demon, he couldn't do anything about that.
Now that won't happen of course, because the Diablo universe has, for use of exquisite words, a dualistic view on the world and a non-existent eschatology. Meaning it never ends, with two opposing forces against each other forever. Or so it would seem.

He created Sanctuary and hid it... For a while. Maybe Sanctuary itself was an ultimate weapon...
Together with Lilith and a host of other creatures. And creating Sanctuary doesn't mean you can destroy Heaven or Hell. The fact that Inarius fears Tyrael deeply only supports this.

yeah no ultimate weapon....though there are indications that there might be creatures that could do such -- dreamers or whatever race the ....dangit the dragon that watches everything, name is slipping my mind.
I mean seriously if he by himself could hide sanctuary from the view of heaven even for a short time that is impressive.
As for evil/good. I am not ever going to argue that heaven has sanctuary's best interest in mind, but if the threat of hell conquering and using sanctuary were removed, heaven would lose interest.
Whereas Hell would still pursue them to conquer them whether heaven were around or not.
And Inarius had no interest in attacking either side. he simply wished to rule his own creation.

I'm with frozen dragon on this one. If you read the sin war trilogy you will know that there is no end to the conflict between heaven and hell. The nephalem, however do have the power to kill angels as well as high-ranked demons. And for those who think that heaven is the ultimate light to the sanctuary, think again. If it wasn't for Tyreal, the sanctuary would never exist since upon discovering the sanctuary, the council of angels' first choice was to destroy it, seeing humanity as "abominations". Therefore, you will never see an "uber sword" that will be able to destroy everything since it implies that there is a being stronger than the prime evils or angels, which Blizzard has not even hinted at, and in my opinion (and any sane person's), they will never.
To the ultimate weapon, if there was one created, which is almost impossible, then an equal item/event/person of power would have to be created on the side of hell, as the Balance says.
And the Nephalem are slowly getting weaker, the farther our bloodline gets from Uldyssian. An army of them wouldn't do much good unless they unleased their full power somehow.

The Vampire Lives Eternally. It Was Promised Eternal Death.
As for creatures more powerful then the 3 or angels....I think the dreamers may very well be more powerful.
Also, I think Trag'oul and his species would match up quite well. Especially considering while Heaven and Hell know someone is aiding the Nephalem but still cannot detect who it is.

I'd also like to note that it's called the Eternal Conflict. But everyone can probably draw their own lines from that
Corruption of stereotypical purity is too commonplace these days. I'd literally barf if I had to see Heaven corrupted or something. It would just be unimaginative. What I would prefer is not going to it and just seeing glimpses of it through cinematics or dialogue. I don't want my image of it to be ruined by what could only be covered in a single area in a game. I would say similar of Hell if it had not already been shown in Diablo II.
(And the whole conquering Heaven thing, well, we aren't trying to conquer any other world, we're trying to defend our own. That's the issue Heaven and Hell have- they're trying to conquer each other and we're stuck in the middle of it.)

Stay awhile, and listen.
Interesting way of thinking about it. It would be weird if Heaven was crazy evil looking like hell.
And Auriel
What? Because that's how evil looks? Come on, be a little more imaginative than that.
And Heaven isn't "evil", it's just not the christian version.
