It is pretty clear cut that there will be individual drops. Meaning each player gets his/her drops, and only appears for that player. No one can fight each other over items any more or see who clicks the uber item first.
But my question is, does the loot actually exist in the monster, meaning that there is an inherent amount of loot in the monster, or is it spawned with the monster is killed?
For example if the loot is inherently in the monster, theoretically, a player will get 4 times more loot if he solos a dungeon by himself in comparison to completing the dungeon with 3 of his friends.
Or does the loot get multiplied by X number of players in the game, and then show on each of their screens?
Will the player get the same amount of loot as he would soloing in comparison to if he were in a group?
I think this is a very important issue to stress, especially because of bosses. If a person manages to solo an entire dungeon by him self and then kill the boss ALL BY HIM SELF, he SHOULD in theory get all of the loot 4x the loot he would have gotten if he had 3 others helping him.
I think it SHOULD be this way because the same number of items will be entering the economy as it would if it were a group, the items would just be in one persons possession instead of four people.
Has blizzard talked about how loot will work in detail?
Will the player get the same amount of loot as he would soloing in comparison to if he were in a group?
they mentioned that the amount of loot per player would be divided, and reduced some % more after that division because of group buffs, strats, etc.
And as for the loot existing in the monster, its when it dies. You can add some magic find buffs to yourself when the boss is low if you want and you WILL get a chance of better items coming your way ^-^. But as for the bosses dropping reduced amounts of items, im not sure because bliz only mentioned charging through masses and killing fast with your group.
No this is not specified ye but i dont think they'll give you 4x loot thats just too much. Youd have the same luck in getting rares as 4 people would killing the same monster or boss together thats just too much. Youd have a 400% chance to get epic items. of what you normally had. That to me is overkill and it would therefore ruin the economy cause you would no longer even need to trade for anything it would take 5 seconds to find the best gear.

keep in mind, this is solo.
It probably wont be like in d2 where you can easily solo a dungeon and then the boss at the end.
But i'm saying if you were to do it by your self, it would probably take more than 4 times longer than it would take a group.
Think of it this way, if there is 100x divide amongst 4 people then each person gets 25x, but if it is given to one person, it is just 100x.
So in the sense, there is the same amount of loot, just distributed to one person, so in that sense, the person would get 4x loot he would have gotten if he were in the group. I did not mean to suggest that the person would get 400x loot.
To solo a boss in diablo3 would be a very very difficult task, especially if the goal is to "get loot", this would require the player to play on the hardest difficulty, and im sure no boss will be "farmable", in the sense you can do it over and over and over again in a short amount of time.
Not entirely. The game is said to increase difficulty when people join in. So it will be easy so you can solo the entire game by yourself or with your friends if you want. And to what your sayign about loot i definetley think its going to decide once the monsters killed they cant have it pre determined because if you do forget it people would get rares like crazy. As to you saying its 100x and you usually get 25x thts not true each person is said to have an equal chance at everything so its not a portion of the monster its like they each soloed a monster themselves. Therefore it is 400x. But they will not let you have 4x the loot its too much youll get the same as you would in multiplayer cause it works that each of you killed the monster so id just get normal loot. like i would if i soloed the monster.

Probably won't be an easy game if that's what you mean. But I'm sure soloing will be just as feasable as it ever was. If you char couldn't solo it wouldn't feel very epic of him now would it.

I doubt 4x slower. Simply cause as mentioned by other people, Diablo 3 will (liike it's predecessor) get harder the more people join the game. Therefore slowing the pace of the game down so that folks don't just run through monsters.

But that's cause you don't have a clue of all the variables it takes to balance a game out. So to you and most casual gamers, game making seems obvious and straightforward. It's not. I can assure you that what you just said isn't the way it's going to work.

He didn't say 400X he said 400%. 4x1=4 // 25x400%=100.... You claim that if you solo you have 4x the chance to get loot since it won't get divided into 4 players. That equals to 400% of what you would get normally on multiplayer. That's just plain silly to believe Blizzard would allow you to get 4x the ammount of loot alone. Might as well say, OK NO MORE MULTIPLAYER. Play alone to get best results. lol

Although you are purely assuming this. I dearly hope you are RIGHT.
I am praying for a better way to hunt items than to have to farm bosses. I hope that Blizzard will give us random quests that will be a main part of item hunting. MFing shouldn't be monotonous by nature.
I just want bosses to be UBER, EPIC. Not just a larger sized annoyance who is there simply to get massacred faster and faster everyday just to hand out godly items to players.

There is no way blizzard would balance the game in either direction. Each player willget the same amounts of items playing mp as when they play sp. To say other wise is rediculous. As far as the game being harder on sp and bosses almost impossible. That is also rediculous. The balancing will be very similar to D2. If you want to solo or multi you will have a fun experience.

Solo a dungeon or a boss is not 4x harder then in a 4 man party simply because "XXX entered the game. Diablo's minions grows stronger!". So if it's not 4 times harder you should not get 400% more loot. This will balance soloing and partying.
The only "issue" is the fact that partys may stack their power more then 4 times because of party buffs(like 2 barbarian stacking different shouts), teamwork and skill combos (like necro-pally-sorc low resist combo in D2). Because of that partying will problably be more efficient then soloing if the loot table recieve a 400% increase. But that the way it should be since cooperative play must be more worthy due the fact that it involves some troublesome stuff, like looking for a good group.

there is also an advantage to grouping for item drops. While every character gets the same amount of drops from sp to mp. You have a better chance of getting a particular item in mp because each character has a chance of getting the item you are looking for. Of course it is up to your group to share any loot the others receive.
