I like the leech mechanics from D2. Blizz could probably reduce their power a bit, but should leave them in game IMO.
Strategy is good and all, but this is a hack and slash game, not WoW. I want to be able to mindlessly destroy things with not too much strategy. Leech mechanics allow me to do this without having to stop and juice back up or keep running in and out, etc etc.

Again the siege breaker and the 1000 pounder are not hard bosses, they are not even bosses. And theres also avarage size monster like the unburied.
And it's not a matter of "fix a problem"... Why the reason of existence of everything must be remove a possible negative aspect of the game? Why not put something in the game simply because it's fun even if theres not a ultimate "necessity" of it?
The more item modifiers we have, the more we can customise our characters. The more the better!
There are no easy bosses persay, so what I meant was any monsters worth taking
more than 10 seconds killing. So no matter which monster it is, I doubt you will run out of baddies to leech from or find orbs from. Putting smaller minions in a fight not only is to fix the lack of leeching by giving orbs but also to create a challenge for the player and create a fun and thrilling situation. Therefore I agree with you on not just existing for fixing a problem.
However the reason for so much fixing to be done is simple, because no matter what designers make the game to be, there will always be people trying to find a way to abuse a rule that is prone to weakness/OPness. This often puts games to their graves. Blizz isn't the company to let that happen, so I bet they have found a way to solve or go around it.

Anything that is not very well balanced remove strategy from the game. Overpowered evasion would make your character unbeatable, so they should not put evasion in the game ? The problem is not what the items can do, but how much they can do.
People will only abuse it if it's overpowered. The possibility of leech HP to a point that the monster can't kill you is ridicolous, only very newbie designers would let that happen, wich is not the case.
Yes I agree on the "lack of balance = OP " idea, it's quite obvious that this is often the case with many games including D1, D2. That's exactly what I was saying and I think you just confirmed my previous statement. However I disagree with your claim that overpowered evasion would create invincibility. Unless you are talking about a different kind of evasion than me. What I meant wasn't an Evasion Skill persay, such as the Evade Amazon skill from D2. I don't mean a % based skill, neither it being an invulnerable moment. Go play Monster Hunter series and you will see what I mean, and trust me it's far from OP. There is character movement and evasive maneuvers. These must be timed exactly and in the right manner according to logic, not on %es. Therefore it gives the player a constant chance to avoid, but it is and will always be a human based skill which means that it cannot be exploited unless you tone your skills to a near inhuman level. (Logic states that if your standing in the way of a fireball and fail to dodge it, it will hit you). This means it's impossible to just create a build that has a % based skill to avoid, crank it up the wazzoo with Uber items and just walk your way through hell. You will be forced to actually play good and be familiar with your character, such as the game should be in order to be successful.
If every char had evasive maneuver based skills (jump, teleport, illusion, etc.) this would be possible. Like I said, it's just a supposition. Doesn't by all means state that I would choose this system over a better one.

I really want that too!
But lifeleech not necesserely breaks strategy and the other good stuff you mentioned. It's only one more option of how the player can choose how his character will survive.
And I agree fully, just hope that if they do choose to implement such a system again. To make sure that it's done properly this time. Unlike D2 where they had to create near insta-death situations (Stygian Dolls) to counter the fact that most skills create OPness. And that's not just Leech I'm talking about... I remember reading from a Blizz article somewhere that during the later stages of D2, LoD they had no other way to bring challenges than to create these insta death situations or monsters retardedly strong to force players into developing skills in order to play through certain stages of the game. This has it's ups, and downs. Yeah you do learn skill, but means that sometimes there isn't nothing you can do about it, you just die out of nowhere and it can create alot of frustration.
