I'll admit, if a zombie had nearly 1% HP left, I wouldn't want to waste the 10 out of 35 mana casting Magic Missile. Just zap it with your wand and it will die.
Oh, wait... you could do that with melee weapons as well. Scratch the above.
Pfft, I think you guys are missing the point... Its not about having it to kill that last guy who has 1% life left, its about being able to normal attack from a range if your out of mana and your build lacks the ability to take to many hits. As a Wizard, you sure as hell aren't going to want to try to melee a Thousand Pounder when your out of mana if you haven't spent many points in the conjuration tree now are you?

Well, no, but that's where I would TP the hell out of that place and get another few pots just to be safe.
But perhaps you're right. It's better to be able to end it faster and save a TP. Besides, D3 is all about action--I bet TP books only have 10 slots.
I can fully Confirm that Wands are now ranged. a friend of mine that played the blizzcon demo told me a while ago. Pretty awesome if you ask me.

Even if one takes every reefer madness allegation of the prohibitionists at face value, marijuana prohibition has done far more harm to far more people than marijuana ever could

You know we might not even get TP right? If we do, its going to be pretty limited. You aren't going to just be able to TP out of a boss room and walk away scott free, if anything you will have to be away from all monsters in order to do it.
Also, about those pots. Their on a CD now and harder to come by. Diablo 3 isn't going to challenge your ability to pop potions, its actually going to challenge your Diablo skills for once. When you do find them, you would probably be best to save them for bosses, and you most likely won't be able to get more than 1 - 2 off, maybe a few more, all depending on how long it takes you to down the boss.

Thank god for not needing pots. I hate Diablo 2 in more reasons than I like it, restocking potions one. And in D2 if I were out of pots, I would run away for a while, all the way back to town if need be.

I highly doubt barb will be able to use wands. And thats probably one of the only weapon restriction I'd agree with.
Bashiok said somewhere that all classes have weapon-restrictions, because it is too expensive to animate each weapon with each class. I don't really care--I wouldn't want to use a wand as a Barbarian anyways.
What I want to know is... Who uses a wand for melee? The answer to that should be nobody, and then it begs the question as to why not make them ranged. I still think staves should remain melee however, but should be able to do enough damage to as least be slightly usable. I mean you are hitting something with a giant stick, so that has to do some damage.

This kind of weapon shouldn't be used to attack but to raise one's magical power though staffs should be decent in melee.

Good point. That's probably why Blizzard decided to put them in D3. And WoW, for that matter.
In fact, in WoW, they don't even let you melee-attack with the wand. Do you think Wizards are restricted to long-ranged wands and melee staffs?
You could stab somebody with a wand. The eye-area would hurt the most.
Or you could just be Harry Potter and stick it up a troll's nose...
Sorry, waiting for Diablo 3 has honestly gotten me so bored that I did something I never thought I would ever do: go back and read all 7 books from book 1. At least I'm not bored anymore XD

Lol. I make games in honor of D3, and I play all games other than D2 in honor of D3 (like Dungeon Siege 2). Fuck Diablo 2, it's boring as fucking christ.
I'm good with wands being ranged, it only makes sense. My question is damage type. Will the wands basic auto attack have elemental damage or will it be basic damage. I guess comparedto regular weapons there would be normal and one with elemental damage. I just find it wires that a wand would do normal damage. It seems almost that would have to have some sort of damage. I was also wondering (despite we don't know he other classes) would anybody else be able to use a wand other than the wizard?

Well I bet there are many types of wands that have many damage-types. You could probably get a poison wand that poisons the enemy, or an arcane wand that does more damage to Undead.

No. Bashiok said it's too expensive to animate every weapon with every class, and in the end it would be useless -- you aren't going to use a wand as a Barbarian.

If not, it may have been early in the game build when this mechanic was not yet added.
Many people said that it was a wand but eh was attacking stab the enemies and stabing with a wand is kind ridicolous O.o

Says who? I mean, sure, thats what it became in Diablo 2 because it was melee, but with it ranged now it gives you a lot of room for play.
I too believe staffs should stay melee. However, charges on some staffs wouldn't be a bad idea either.
