i think it would be a good idea if they could make it work, but i highly doubt they could make it work so it wouldn't be a good idea
The biggest contridicting statement in the world...great job Warlord LOL :D. I get what you are saying though.
If i was a game company with a high fan base over pc platforms...i would definitely use that popularity and try to expand in the consoles and touch that gaming corner as well. Blizzard already has been in the consoles before with Rock n' Roll Racing, Lost Vikings and Black Thorne.

Those before me shall quiver in my wake as I unleash the fury within!
Blizzard has been in the gaming industry for a while now. I'm sure they have marketing specialists who tackle debates like this one everyday. So whatever platform is used they must have their reasons.
Personally, I have my console setup in the living room. I just don't think it'll be comfortable - even if I get a keyboard or whatever I'd have to get a table/stand of some sort and have that in front of the couch. I'd much rather play D3 on my computer.
Well, with so many newcomers to consoles (as in the younger generations), would they even want to play Diablo games?
Diablo 2 is like from 2000/2001 isn't it? Most kids 15 and under are probably not aware of what Diablo is unless they studied Blizzard's background after having played WoW (if they play PC games).
Oi! I'm 15 and my first Blizzard game was Diablo, tyvm. I find WoW to be disgusting. Only because it takes the Warcraft lore and guts it. Then EATS the guts. Then craps them out and sets them on fire.
And, dude above me. The Playstation controller has 10 buttons. Not including directional arrows.

Well, aside from Xbox 360 has 10 without it too, the Arrows are just the KEY/MAIN help for assigning Hotkeys.
Anyone played Xbox 360 that would MAKE a game like Diablo WORK, would know. that Upper-Left, Upper-Right, etc give it 4 more options. (8 MORE if using LB, 12 MORE if using RB too... Not to mention LT and RT, and right stick!)
So, that EASILY takes care of the "Keyboard required" problem many were complaining. No it's NOT required. It's why RTS is very playable on Xbox 360!!!
And, the Mouse-issue, well it (joystick) may not be as precise as mouse is, but I played enough RTS/2.5D games on Xbox 360 to find that NOT to be a huge problem, at all!
So, PS will give you some problems. Xbox 360 is much better with the controller!

Blizzard, please put back the single player offline mode!
It's not just the hotkeys that people complain about, theres something about a keyboard that makes it feel more precise.
And also... as for your whole "There r enuff buttonz" argument...
A keyboard has many more buttons than an Xbox controller, well over 90 depending on the keyboard.
Soooo, this results in many more hotkey options, resulting in more precise and exact commands.
And yes, a mouse is much more precise as well.
Most games these days have an aim-assist feature, which smooths out console play considerably.

But the thing is, there was the capability to make extra hotkeys available, if need be.
Just because you didn't need extra hotkeys, doesn't mean nobody else did.
I always ended up filling up the optional spots, with f9 through to the pagedown key, since they were all in a line and provided an easy way to switch skills.
I didn't do this so much with LoD since the game itself forced you to rely on one main skill, but with the mod ES, I always ended up filling all my hotkeys, and requiring more.

And I've tried RTS's on the XBox. They're a pain in the ass and I never got to do what I wanted to do. RTS's on computers are far more efficient and easy to use.

First I want to start by congradulating Kanastag, you are officially the first person under the age of 16 that I have respected in the last year. On that not, it's time for my two dirty pennies, this has gone to far.
In all honestly, I have no reason to find Blizzard incapable of a feat such as D3 on a console. They are Blizzard, they can do anything. Its like Disney World magical every day in their offices. Look at WoW, they successfully made the most addictive drug America has ever seen, and on top of that they can't test for it, it can't be sniffed out by dogs, it has not/will never catch judicial attention, it can be given to children, AND it is relatively cheep and easy to make...
I'm sorry, that was a terrible joke, let me put on my serious face.
Without at least a mouse and keyboard (as opposed to a controller), Diablo 3 would not make any type of decent console game. It in no way or form has to do with limited commands: using a classic Phantasy Star Online style controller setup (where the command of your primary buttons change when holding down a trigger), you could easily get 16 different commands that were simple to figure out and remember (by utilizing all 4 buttons now found on the top of both X-box and Playstation controllers with the same style system).
The most epic downfall of Diablo 3 as a console game is its point and click nature, one of the biggest things that make it Diablo. Even if you were to control all movement with an analog stick, you would still need a pointing device in the UI for certain spells and abilities. I mean, you sure don't expect a console to read your mind and cast Leap Attack, Hydra, or Skull of Flames exactly where you want it, do you? Any other targeting system other than a point and click would break the game or just be lame as hell.
So you think a pointing device should be implemented into this theoretical console version? That is a mistake. You are either back to point and click or your second stick controls targeting while primary stick controls movement. Either way its going to be stupid on a console, every game I have seen with point and click on an analog stick is crap. Sorry, but Halo Wars sucked fat sack, mainly because it was a console game. That game would have made way more sense on a computer. Even Blizzard themselves tried and failed a similar system, anyone remember Starcraft 64? It was crap compared to the original PC version. Asian kids must have got a kick out of that one. Using an analog stick as a mouse is like using a rubber glove as a condom, why would you try to mimic something that is already being made? Unless your just that desperate for a condom...
That being said, its mouse and keyboard or go home, making it viable for only ONE console in production, the PS3, as it is the only console that will accept a mouse and keyboard. The cheapest PS3 isn't exactly cheap starting at $399 new. Not to mention if you want those nice graphics your going to need a decent tv. Lets not forget the mouse and keyboard that doesn't come with your PS3. Or you could just drive to your local Best Buy and pick up a half decent Asus laptop that would run Diablo 3, play and burn CD/DVD, let you surf the web, or turn it into a workhorse for any sick computer fetish you may have (from photoshoping to hacking). Tell me exactly where you got your money's worth taking the PS3 route. It seems people these days tend to lack a sense of value.

Completely agree with pretty much everything you said.
I used to play Starcraft 64, I'm pretty sure I still have it actually.
Back in the days when I wasn't a PC gamer...
Once I played SC on the PC, it really hit me how badly they butchered the game for the 64'.

please don't let it come out for consoles.
if they are gonna put it out for consoles they have to extend the release even more. unless they will only work on the console version after they release the PC version than i don't care
I think it's most unlikely for them to release it for consoles at any given time. They'd just be butchering the game even more, and I'm sure many gamers (me included) wouldn't like to see it happen.
blizzard is are a PC company, and diablo is a PC franchise. i regardless of what else it gets released on will buy it for PC and play on battle.net 2
im not match making on xbox live or psn haha
it was neat to play diablo on ps1 way back in the day, but the experience wasnt the same. i know they have streamlined the interface but i still dont think its console friendly. games that have many skills usually dont play so well.
i cant see junctioning skill trees to a d-pad then opening a grid to hotkey them to the buttons etc. doesnt sound fun, kinda like fable which was ok. blizzard doesnt do ok, they do amazing
Such a bad idea the limit of skills would be horrible your skill bar would have 7 at most maybe even just thre eif you add in the run/walk button the minimap button the skill tree button the character stat button the inventory button. There just arent enough buttons to play the game with it would be so limiting.

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
To be honest, I don't give two shits if they make it for console as long as it doesn't delay the PC version (and I doubt it would). Anybody play Diablo on Playstation? Say it once, it blew. I hated it. Wouldn't even think about it. That being said, I am sticking to the PC version like everyone else here. They want to make it open to X-box live? Let them. It will probably end up a bunch of fag kids like L4D on 360, and nobody will want to play it anyway.
Personally, I think its a half decent business decision if they can pull it off. I won't be playing it though, so I don't really care.

Either in
CPU/System Spec (PS1 was 34MHZ) So LOW I couldn't believe it lasted THAT long!
Controller - With Playstation controller you can only assign 4 HOT keys
ONLY Controller you can assign at least 8 Hot key IS
Xbox
Xbox 360
BUT Time (Well, Xbox was released AFTER Diablo 2 came out on PC)
Now, Xbox 360 Redesigned the 2 Black/White buttons, into EASY to access LB, RB Buttons. It's SO easy to assign MORE Hotkeys with them!
I think the BEST platform for Diablo 3 to be on is Xbox 360!!! Unless, PS3 going to put out New controller, it also won't get to have 8 Hotkeys.
ONLY Xbox/Xbox 360 can!
Actually this is the ORIGINAL Xbox Controller... <NIGHTMARE>
