Chill man, it's just the 5. No more, no less. Maybe in an expansion. But several classes can mean anything from 3 to 7. 5 is right there in the middle. It's just 5. Sorry.

Diablo 1 = 3 Classes + 1 on Expansion(only counting the Monk)
Diablo 2 = 5 Classes + 2 on Expansion
Diablo 3 = 5 Classes + ?? on Expansion(s)
Still I would love if there were more classes to choose than 5 although it could get kind of weird, maybe there will be 8 classes for the 8 slots in the MP games xD

"Eternal suffering would be too brief for you, Diablo!"
They said 5. I know there are going to be more in a potential expansion, and I hope there will be more than one of them expansions. Having in mind that WoW has 2 of them already... and that Starcraft 2 is torn in 3 standalone expansion packs, you get my point.
WoW got 1 new class.. not 2.. and its the DK. Other than that, they always had 9 class, or so I thought. Either way, they started with way more class to play with.
I wish D3 started with more than 5 class, but I don't mind, as long as they work well. I do seriously hope, however, that they include more class in expansions. An expansion without any new class, at least for Diablo, would look a bit bland to me.
Maybe I just liked the choice in WoW, but I seriously hope we would have at least 8 class after the expansion(s).
But yeah, D3 is confirmed to have 5 class without expansions. Don't expect more.
I think he meant 2 expansions BC WotLK.
I would like to see an expansion in a year and a half from release and then a big content patch later. I don't like paying again for mostly the same game.

It hasn't been confirmed if it will be 8, 4, 12, or another number, just said, but not confirmed, if it has been confirmed I'd like to see it, so I can take that out of the speculation list xD.

they said five classes, but they said there may be more in expansions, including old classes from D2.
They didn't say they would include old classes from D2, they said that if they were going to put older classes in the game other than the Barbarian, they would be in an expansion. Nothing is for sure.
If you don't like expansions, don't buy them. I guess you just want free content. Good quality content comes at a price. This isn't new. I hate expansions done for the sole purpose of taking all of our money, yes, but EA does that. Blizzard never did this yet.

I would rather pay for one package that costs the same as the original and expansion together because in Diablo II you have a split playerbase between Diablo II and LoD.

Seriously....... if you are one of the people that refuses to buy a Blizzard game expansion then wow......
And the split playerbase with Diablo is hardly worth mentioning. What is it 90% LoD and 10% original Diablo 2?

Where did I say that?
I just said expansions are bad because they split the playerbase, doesn't mean I don't play the expansion though. Stop making inferences based on what I say, bad ones at that.

Oh, yes he did mean 2 expansions, my bad.

Wait, what?
4 slots of 5 characters? 20 characters?
No way.

I'm talking about the maximum amount of players allowed in each game.
