Do you want the Horadric Cube to make a return in Diablo 3? It had a lot of interesting applications in Diablo 2, but in my opinion I prefer playing a game that doesn't require you to look up recipes online. I think you should be able to learn everything about the game through playing it, not by endless trial and error or looking online. And yes, this also means I'm not a big fan of runeword items.
This is a personal preference and I'm sure there are plenty of people who disagree with me, but I'm curious to see how many people out there would rather the cube wasn't present in Diablo 3.
I would have loved to see the Cube making a return just for sentimental reasons, not because it was useful or anything. It served a purpose as additional inventory space (a silly and annoying mechanic) and for crafting, but both of those things will be reinvented/refined in D3.
They said the Cube is not making a return though, so I'm just saying.
The cube could return, or any other form or kind of a crafting instrument. If rare ancient scrolls dropped from monsters, showing us some rare recipes, it could be cool. I just like the idea of getting the recipes while in game... But i think that D3 will surely have some kind of a cube, its just too good to get rid of.

Well that's just the thing, were you ever required to? No, not really. The only times you're required to use the cube, the game makes it painfully obvious what the recipes are.
I liked the added depth of an item with near-endless possibilities that you wouldn't even necessarily know or ever have to use.
I hope something similar appears in D3...

My typical train of thought: Everything -> Sex -> Diablo
The horadric cube was tedious and unnecessary. We're just used to it so many of us don't see how it pointlessly slows things down. It shouldn't be a pain to convert gems, but many people simply avoid lower gems because of how long it takes to convert things in the cube--dragging items one by one, in and out of the box.
D3 needs two things: an instant stash-to-inventory button (and vice versa) and no cube. Crafting can be done through NPCs.
I don't think the instant inventory-to-stash thing would work well. That would kinda suck. Using the inventory should be a more pleasant experience, but there still has to be a limit of how much you can carry. Thus the system for expanding the amount of slots you can carry.

I dont know, there are alot of people that like the "rest" you can take after you kill a boss... You go to the town and open your stash, organize some stuff, cube a few gems, etc... Im not sure Blizz would want to remove this kind of feeling from the Diablo games
You should only be able to use a cube recipe, IF you found/unlocked that recipe WITHIN the actual game. If I find the recipe scroll (with should be used much differently this game) then I could find the materials and use it.
This makes looking it up online, pretty pointless..

"Not Even Death Can Save You From Me" ~ Diablo (II)
Yea i didn't really enjoy runewords either. The whole econmics of trying to attain said high level runes was just a royal pain in the ass and I swear people had pickits when runes dropped off bosses.
Never got a single HR unless I was soloing (was lucky with a IST once but I must admit that was a pickit in my early days and it was in a pile of garbage that everyone overlooked, lewls).

I think he meant that you don't have to drag items to stash when you open it up.
When you are at your stash and the stash is opened in your screen, you can just right click items in your inventory and bling they will go to your stash. Same thing when you right click your item in stash it will come to your inventory if there is enough room.

Yea thats totally right... Its like Mf'ing, but you find the ingredients of a good item and not the item itself
Eastern sun sortof did that with secret recipes, they worked much like that.
They ended up being pretty amazing actually, I love them
I think it would work pretty well in D3.
And for the whole horadric cube thing, I definitely think that it should make a comeback in D3. Sucks that they haven't put much thought into it yet though, hopefully we will get something similar to the cube.
.... Horadric cone ?

Actually, that's a good idea! We already have a talisman, and they're still keeping it secret! Maybe you're right about this one! Perhaps it could work better than the Cube!
What do you mean with "We already have a talisman, and still a secret"...? Sorry but i got no idea what your talking about... I feel like i missed something there
I like the fact that it brought us the cow level and such, but other than that it was really pointless. A similar system could be implemented without the use of inventory space if Blizzard so choosed, or they could just remove that system all together.

There are no stupid questions, just a bunch of inquisitive idiots.

For you lazy clickers: "A planned feature that did not make it into the final game, recipe scrolls were going to drop from monsters, and when clicked they would reveal various Horadric Cube recipes. The artwork was functional, but the D2 team never had time to enable their function."
Just an FYI.
