Simply put, each player will have separate loot drops that only that player can see, or at least that is the last that I have heard. We don't know exactly how this will work and things can certainly change before release. Suffice to say, Blizzard was also not happy with the D2 system and it should be improved (changed) come D3.
Seen that, what I mean is you just grab what you see. So If you play for 5 years, there is a chance you will never get an epic drop because you did not click as fast as your party members. .... It is basically free for all loot. Which is ridiculous..
The way I understood it was that each player is given their own drops that no other player will see or be able to pick up . Unless you pick up a item and throw it back onto the ground then they can pick it up. And I do not believe you have to pick up items anymore. You just simply walker over them and they are done automatically
Though I could be wrong, I believe it is only gold that you need only walk over to pick up. If it is true for all items I certainly hope you can turn that feature off.
And I do not believe you have to pick up items anymore. You just simply walker over them and they are done automatically
.
That only applies to the gold coins. Everything else you need ot pick up still otherwise your inv would be cluttered with junk drops that you walked over...

As far as I've understood, there will be separate drops for each team-member, and I won't be able to see what drops for you - nor pick them up, by consequence..
IF you want, you can offer to trade items that interest me, but that wasn't confirmed as far as I know!
I just hope there aren't 100 grey useless items in the ground, 50 blue ones (that most people don't even care checking) and everyone just use yellows/greens/gold.. The drop-system needs a revamping..
lol i wasnt answering to you post about collect thng only by passing nearby...
i was really talking about the local loot... i cant see anything good in that.
a monster die, let some loot. the items are for thise who grab them... why in the hell should it let x items per character?
finito
Personally I like the idea. Maybe it's just because I saw a Tyreal's Might drop once and I didn't click fast enough to grab it, but it makes it a lot less stressful when you don't have to hold down alt the whole time just to be sure you don't miss out on a good drop.

The current system [that we know] sounds good.

A loot system where what you see is yours, works very well in my opinion. Mythos had it. I think Hellgate: London had it too. It's a good way to avoid unnecessary arguments about loot, and lets us focus on playing instead. A feature that avoids causing frustration, is a good feature to have in a game, from an objective point of view.
They could also make it optional to choose the type of loot system you like best when you create a game. This way, everyone would be happy.
sorry brother but it still makes no sence at all... i want to decide my own items...
Clicking frantically at the general area where the boss dies is not 'deciding your own items'. Your argument fails.

I think the drops are player specific, so you will only get lot for your character, but I could be wrong.
Negative. Jay Wilson did however confirm, that bosses will have a much higher chance to drop an item that is useful for your own class on the first boss kill (but only on the first kill), so that you can get useful items as you progress through the game without having to take breaks to trade items that you can't use, for the items that you need for leveling.
So the first play through each difficulty won't reward godly items, but it will occasionally reward an item that upgrades your character. Something that you can immediately use. Most likely lowbie uniques appropriate for your level.

catch what you see is perfect for diablo.
This also discriminates against people with slower internet connections, ie: if you have a high ping you will NEVER be able to get anything - and this is completely out of your control.
As someone playing in New Zealand on a US server I am stoked to have a system that doesn't do this. The old system was stupid any way you look at it - the only thing it did was to encourage people to play by themselves instead of multiplayer.

END OF DISCUSSION just kidding
your argument makes no sense..
Also, the computer already decides what items are dropped. What happens now, is that people won't be frustrated, and what you see, is what you get.
Like the other guy said, clicking in a general area faster than another person doesn't make you better, or give you the right to better items..

Loot changes have made me a happy camper
