I'm starting to think that this forum is the worst possible way to help cope with the 1 year+ wait until D3. But the damage is done.
I don't get people who don't like the art direction in D3. I love it. LOVE IT. The dungeons need a little work but outdoors with the wind, rain and lightning is amazing. So my question is:
What other areas do you think we can expect in D3? Deserts? Snowy Mountaintops? I know those are both in D2 so thats why I want to ask you guys. I would like to see better use of water (maybe a coastal area).
And on a slightly related note. What do you think the classes will say when they enter certain areas? Feel free to be hilarious.

I agree with what you say about the indoor areas needing a little bit of work and the outdoor areas looking awesome already as is. I hope to see a Snowy level/act/region. Just something about blood being spilled on white. I am also hoping to see a moist/humid jungle like act similar to Act 3 in Diablo II. I know for a lot of people it was their least favorite act but I quite liked it.
Judging from some of the artwork I'm pretty sure we'll see Arreat again, even though this time it'll basically be a crater from the Worldstone's destruction.
However, I'd like to see much scarier dungeons than they've shown us. Ones that bring back the insane-o creepy feeling you got when you played Diablo 1. Ooooh, and I want to see a lot of Hell, with some much more fiendish looking creatures than we saw in Diablo 2.
I've always loved jungle acts. And i really hope they will put some jungle levels in there.
But if i look at the artwork i see huge cities built next to large mountains. I would love an act in such a city. Large bridges from one building to another, high towers, lots of stairs. Just Imagine yourself the dungeon from the gameplay video and replace all the dark depths with the rest of the city below you. I think it would be awesome.
And seeing Arreat again would be cool. Assuming everything lies in ruins because of the destroyed worldstone. In my opinion it is a perfect environment to slash your enemies. Or maybe some other cities that lie in ruins, vegitation everywhere.
Anyway, i'm getting away from the point. It doesn't really matter what acts we will see. As long we have our weapons every environment can be turned into a battlefield.

Yeah I was looking at some screens and that would be awesome. I also hope they put more effort into towns themselves. Some of these towns were supposedly properous before being corrupted but where are the ruins? Just seemed like towns in D2 were really small. Also more of a sense that people are fighting. Somehow having one guard never gave me the impression that the town was ever under attack.

I would like to see something like Dante's Inferno (9 circles of hell, stages of purgatory...). For example it would be interesting if your way (as a hero) to the core of hell would be a journey through the 9 circles. But it should be extra violent and dark to capture the essence of hell!
They are actually making a game based off of Dante's Inferno...It look really cool.

I don't understand why people complained so much..I thought it looked AMAZING. I was too surprised to even think anything else.
I haven't looked up anything about Diablo III for a few months, and was nearly ready to move on with my life (grades went up etc) Then about 2 days after WWI, it was 12:30 a.m. and I was looking up cod: Waw (or was it cod4) and someone mentioned D3, so I went to the blizzard website and saw it..WAS IN DENILE...

It should look more like Diablo1, not sea's of fire, but sea's of blood. With bones sticking out of the ground and walls, with Gothic remains etc.
This way we can have different dungeons cased on lava etc, like the "Third Act" in Diablo 1.
You know what would be nice? Tropical Island Jungles.
A lot of Islands in chain with rivers and jungles and of course a lot of sea, you could even have shallow water areas. With sun but also fog and a lot of vines and scary corruption.
For owners of wc3tft: The Sunken Ruins tileset with blight, that would be awesome.
Speaking of seas of blood, in Act 3, when those sea monsters came out, it was really cool when you killed them and the water turned red.

I think we'll start someplace green. The land will be bitter, and it's dungeons grim, but this should seem like a fairy tale when compared to the end of the game.
I don't see how we could avoid diving into hell toward the end.. or at least something awfully close. Flaming pits, pentagrams and cathedrals of terror will abound.
I also have a feeling we might be seeing some dank dungeons or ruins that might last for a whole act.. perhaps an entire underground act that is not related to hell or anything along those lines. Something to hearken back to the time spent under the cathedral in Diablo.

I'm not sure how I feel about an entire act underground but a good deal of an act underground could be really interesting. I think it would really serve the purpose of diablo well having people happy to see the surface at the end of it all.

With D3's new graphics, I think that hell has so much potential and has the possibility to be one of the coolest (hottest =p) places we visit.
Imagine the Barbarian leaping through the gates of hell and landing on the brittle floor, cracking it with his immense weight and momentum, screaming something along the lines of, "You demons will plead for eternal torture in Hell after seeing what I will do to you!"
I know staying with the game play and lore we will have to see some of the same from D1 D2 . But I would not mind seeing something totally new. I really do not care coastal region, urban city, forest, tundra, just would like to see something new different. I think that will help make it D3 and not D1 or 2.
I never understood why a few people are expecting darker dungeons, and environments. If I'm not mistaken, the EVIL has not fully taken over the realm that the heroes live in. There's still hope for the people and towns in the realm. If it was 100% dark like Diablo 2, then my guess is all hopes are lost. But with this upcoming release, there's a chance that we are fighting back at full force, still taking the action through evil.
I'm looking forward to the fights taken to the mountain areas. That's gonna be beast.
