Honestly, don't you guys think it would be cool if there was this really hard to find item that was really rare and like only...lets say "1 out of every 1000 people had the item? Although alot of us probably might not ever get that weapon/item, you would always want it which will keep you on Diablo III longer and after you beat it you wont just be playing on and on just ranking up, you would think about those super rare items. So it will benefit Blizzard and the players. And also there should be like a ranking on the items so like Super Rare, Rare, Good, Bad, Common, Very Common. Of course Blizzard will think of WAY better names then what I just listed so dont flame me please? Also do you think the 'Super Rare' items should be TradeAble/Sell-able?
yea, we had a thread about this a while ago. How the new REALLY GOOD ITEMS were the yellows (rare)
The super duper, uper, duper hard to find items would be the brownish uniques.
I don't want to see amazing items falling off of every monster. I want items that there might only be 500 of them on the whole entire server!! The more simple items should be the main item use. for example white would be the weakest items, orange could be decent items that are pretty good, yellow could be really good items that are hard to find.
Blue items would be arcane, and magic type items. Brown (uniques) would be the super hard to find.
Red could then be the extremely rare ones that have a limit on the number of them per server. For example there would be 10000 special axes that could be found from mfing. these would be valuable and could be traded with other super rare reds.
The reds need to be ridiculously hard to find...meaning, you could play for a year and find one..

I'm a firm believer that any Rare item should have the potential to be better than the best Unique item. I remember one point of my Diablo 2 lifetime where I would look at the character portraits at the bottom of the chat screens and list off every visible item that they were wearing. At the time I was proud of my D2 knowledge, but now I realize that it pretty much sucks how every single sorceress (or any other class for that matter) uses the exact same spells and wears the exact same gear.
It's already apparent that Blizzard is going to great lengths to allow a lot of customization with character spell sets, so let's hope that items are the same way.
Uniques are good items to have, but it would be awesome if Rares were traded just as often. I'd love it if every character in Diablo 3 had it's own special set of gear, and no 2 characters would end up with the exact same spells and stats. This would definitely make PvP a lot more interesting and fun.

I tottally agree with your last Sentence. Thats exactly what I would like to see.
I enjoyed having a perfect Tyreals armor on my barb. Looks soooooooo sexy and Its nice to know like 3 other people had one as nice as mine. Too bad the stats sucked haha
the problem is those damn farming websites selling rare items for USD. some people dont have a hard time justifying the 10 or so bucks it might cost
how do those even work?? One guy agrees to trade a soj for website money??? How does the transaction occur??
Also if they fix bots, there won't be much of a problem..

the ones ive seen use pixel recognition and mouse movement cues. not detectable by blizzard. thats why you get banned every ten games even if you dont bot. very poor work around for botters imo.
The best items should be rares. Having uniques (or any fixed-stat items) as the best promotes running of certain bosses, identical chars/builds, even duping.
In D2, runewords were meant to be the "super, secret, hard to find" items. Enigma wasn't supposed to be nearly as common as it was. They're victims of their own usefulness. So the market was flooded with hr's. Only very very few should have ever had some of the higher runewords. IIRC, drop chances for most hrs were worse (by a lot) than 1 in 1 million.

They just screwed up bigtime with runes. They should have understood that duping was occurring and that they couldn't stop it. If you can't stop duping then you can't really ever have items that are as rare as they hoped runewords would be.
Bashiok basically said that hacking and duping won't be a problem in Diablo 3, so hopefully things will turn out better this time.

Its always going to be a problem, considering 50% of Diablo players are computer experts..
I assure you the game will be hacked rather quickly, the only thing blizz can do about it, is control the situation as much as possible.

The best-ish items should always be uniques. Hard to find but always there for people who look for them. Rares should be the absolute best. Not a guaranteed find just for putting the time in.
I don't like the idea of making super hard to find uniques (i.e. 999 out of 1000 people will never own one). But I wouldn't mind so much if its more of an easter egg type item. The thing about uniques is if 2 people own the best unique those uniques are still exactly/approximately the same item. The 2 best rares may be completely different. I like that.

Trust in Blizzard. They've had 5 years experience dealing with bots in WoW. I think they have enough information regarding that issue to prevent it during the first stage of Diablo III. Until another smartie cracks it.
xDarkReaperx, good idea, I hope they put that in as well. That's a goal one would love to accomplish. Get the best item in the game, and wield it.

Yup, By the Way. My UserName is "xDeathReaperx" but DarkReaper sounds cool too. I might make more accounts with that username =) Thanks for the idea!!

It's going to be a problem if they travel back in time. In today's day and age, things like duping in online games are science fiction.
Maybe 50% of Diablo players are computer experts, but people need to move on and realize that duping is no longer a viable threat. It's like you are stuck in the Diablo 2 mindset and can't accept that things change.

WoW is an entirely different game. It's totally different to make a bot that finds it's way in a 3D environment with free mouselook and needs to make complex decisions, and an isometric game that can be played entirely with the mouse clicks. They can't even stop bots entirely in WoW, but the thing is that bots in WoW are useless, and in Diablo they are not so they will be used to farm gear.
I think Uniques should be the best. Seriously, and yes I have argued this before, they are items with some lore context in the game.
EX: Azurewrath--This is freaking sword used by Tyrael--The dang thing better own everything else on the game PERIOD. I am not even a sword person, but a sword made in the high heavens for killing demons should pretty much own anything made in Sanctuary....
Tyrael's might-If in fact the armor Tyrael wears should also own
etc etc etc
Rares should be good and even comparable, but they shouldn't necessarily by default be better. I think that making them better and allowing for people to imbue items over and over again for a price would be a good way for customizing. Or even paying for specific types of imbueing.

This is the part that makes an extremely rare item annoying. For every 1 real person that finds one, 10 are found by bots.
If Blizz could find a way to prevent this, that would be glorious. But I just don't think they can.
