It would be nice if the game had all 3 brothers as final bosses (as separate runs with no particular order), and still had other side bosses that were not necessarily core to the game, but equally valuable. This would provide some variety.
Also something like 'daily quests' could be used to add variety, I know its a WoW feature, and they tend to not be popular, but assuming the quests were good it would definitely add to the game. Just none of this collect X of Y and return it to Z BS...
I stand by my old idea that only the first boss run should be more viable than everything else. After that, the player should be able to run non-boss areas just as effectively.
In addition to making multiple bosses/areas worthwile to run, what about the idea of making the bosses harder/have better drops based on how many monsters you killed in his area on your way to him? That way if you rushed to him killing no one else, he would be weak and drop lame stuff, but if you killed every monster from the start of his level to him, he would be uber powerful and thus more likely to drop good stuff.

Yeah, because it's so unreasonable to be unhappy about the possibility that tps and wps will both be nerfed. I swear it's like complaining about anything, no matter how reasonable the complaint, is a mortal offense to you people.
You might enjoy hopping on your stupid wyvern and waiting 5 minutes to get somewhere. I for one would prefer the WP and tp system exactly as it was in D2.

Yeah, because it's so unreasonable to be unhappy about the possibility that tps and wps will both be nerfed.
About a possibility? Yes please! Let's stress about EVERY possibility of ANYTHING that might happen in D3. Except the one about waypoints, of course, since their implementation in D3 has been confirmed by the devs.
I was just pointing out that there's a thread of cryposts based on an uninformed assumption presented as a fact. But please, be my guest and make some more WoW references in a derogatory manner if that makes you 'happy' about the unexisting possibility of wps being 'nerfed'.
They nerfed the TPs, and now if they nerf WPs, what's next? Nerfing my 640x480 resolution and nerfing my baalrun-grindfests? Oh god!
I think what they should do is that you get choices in what you want to do, regardless of what build you are. Sure, some bosses are going to be more suited to run for your build, but you should still be able to get good loot from other bosses and kill them in a relatively equal timeframe.
So that when you at a certain point in your career (certain level with certain amount of MF/FCR/block rate/faster block rate/etc) you get to choose instead of there being only one boss that would make sence for you to run at that point.
And, at the end of it all, there should be more than one "ultimate boss". The cowlevel helped, but it wasn't enough. Right now you have a progression where you kill Andariel a few times, than Mephisto a few times, than if your build allowed you kill Diablo a few times, and at the end you get stuck just farming Baal. Not fun at all. They should have multiple different act bosses you can choose from, or at least "secret" out of the way from the regular story bosses that are as powerful, rewarding and quickly to kill as the regular act bosses. So you have some choice.
they could do the idea i had on another forum
and you get to fight the seven deadly sins or the greater and lesser evils lol
multiple bosses doesnt sound so bad it will mix things up
if they do drop different rare items more common lol
i just dont want bosses to drop like 5 different yellows like baal sometimes did
or like 3 golds
or like 2 rares and a yellow
if they drop a rare item it should be like a yellow at minimum since hes a boss
or a item as good as a yellow item
but only like one or rarely 2 of those items at a time lol
if more players join dont increase the number of drops just the chance of dropping a higher value item but still make it quite rare for really really good items to drop
like no more using one common super unique item as currency lol
but i would like it if the place you started was 2 areas away from the boss to still discourage from redoing the boss over and over again but make the regular mobs drop good enough items to get some reward for playing lol
Definitely keep Boss runs, thats the core of the diablo series. randomness and runs.
What they should do though is make bosses very hard and longer, so it cant be done easily like in a few minutes. That way people will take like 30 minutes or something to finish a run, that will make some people kill regular mobs for loot instead and some may choose to do the boss run if they want, do it in a group etc. they shouldnt have to eliminate boss runs or limit it to 1 or day or something, that would be stupid.
I think boss runs will make a comeback.
I don't really want to see items that only drop from certain bosses, it would be nice if all the bosses keep a chance to drop every item. Maybe have higher percentages for items to drop from different bosses. i.e. higher chance for helms from Diablo, Pants from Baal, etc. This could make people mix up which bosses they feel like running.
Having randomly spawned unique bosses would be fun too, either the unique bosses always spawn in their respective dungeons but in different spots or only a handful of the unique bosses spawn per game but you don't know which ones until you go looking for them.
Another idea might be to have a mutli level dungeon (like D1's cathederal for example) with an arbitrary number of progressively harder levels which give you higher chances of good item drops the deeper you can explore in a session. This might promote bad habits of playing PC games for extended periods of time but who knows.

I get what you're saying; that we only accept WPs and TPs as necessary because we're so used to them from Diablo II, and that if we had never played it in the first place, we'd have no feelings whatsoever on whether or not Tps and WPs were in the game.
But that mentality is silly, because we play games for enjoyment. Normal people will play a game and decide that it is "good" and that it makes them happy. People more interested in games, like us, and people interested profiting off us, try to break down the components of gaming into individual, observable parts so that we can better understand the exact qualities a "good" game inherently has, (that being any game that makes one happy) and furthermore to exploit them in order to interpret the actions as a positive stimulus in the brain and thus enjoy life more. Some people may have interpreted the fast-travel system in Diablo II as a component yielding positive stimuli, and look forward to it in Diablo III. With that said, whoever was complaining about Diablo III's possible removal of the fast-travel system was completely free to do so.
And yeah, I suppose it can be frustrating when people react so visibly to rumors, but that's part of the dramatic appeal of hyping a product and I can see why he'd do that, consciously or subconsciously.
You don't have to use it lol. If you want to spoil a game by installing hacks and using cheats.. Well, it's your own fault for using them. xD
But the hacks could spoil pvp if other people can out grind you... Im just hoping they make the game secure and are vigilant with the banhammer. If you want to hack your game, then do it in single player
There will be for sure ...
else ... D2 will follow the fate of D2v1.12 - The most Unplayed game ever
Better a unplayed game then a game played by hack users. Just because a unplayed game have at least one small community that don't use hacks and this community are more worthy then the whole hack using community. Banhammer ftw.
Well the drops are now changed so you only see the items that dropped for you, so yeah if more players join they will increase the number of items that drop... That's just the natural result of a system like that.
I wouldn't like it if just about any monster dropped good stuff, I like how you have to go to certain places to get certain items, I just think there should be more choice in the places you go to. But not that you can go just about anywhere and find something worthwhile.
But that doesn't mean the good loot should only be at bosses. Some areas could have monsters that drop better loot for instance.
i suppose if runs can be somewhat fun but ya i would just like some groups of regular enemies to drop good items that are similar to boss drops lol
it will increase the ideas of what kind of enemies you can run not just bosses
i wouldnt mind boss runs if there wasnt just one worth doing and none else lol
depends how exactly the system will be implemented for me to give a totally perfectly accurate opinion lol
i dont know how d3 is gonna be till it comes out xD
i just hope the game is fun and doesnt have rushing through the game implemented in anyway lol
after all the most fun in diablo games for me is to fight all the way to diablo with friends
not skip all the enemies and fight bosses xDXDXDXD
but i do want there to be some sort of checkpoint so you arent just playing the same areas the whole time your on to play xD
No offense but I find many of these suggestions here to be very unappealing.
I think way too many have you have become comfortable with the idea of having a singular task be the end game.
There are SOOOO many ways to keep end game content interesting and varied, let me list a few that come to mind:
Infinitely increasing difficulty.
Random quests offer high levels of loot/exp that players should be constantly seeking them out.
Bosses having varied loot drops, encouraging players to do runs for each Boss depending on the kind of gear their looking for.
As end game approaches (levels 70-90) have all the Acts altered to be more similar in terms difficulty and drops, making ALL acts viable farming grounds rather then just the last one.
Make the battles leading up to a bossfight nearly as valuable in terms of exp and loot as the bossfight itself. - Murderface
And this goes on forever.
The idea is simple.
Players will do whatever is most effective for their goal (loot/exp/running).
Its Blizzards job to make sure whatever is the most effective, is the most fun.
The best course of action is to ensure the most effective methods are constantly changing as your character levels, and, there are multiple most effective methods.
* Infintely increasing difficulty is no fun. You should feel like you are awarded by becoming stronger.
How do you determine rewarded though? In D2 how did you get rewarded for becoming stronger? Lets look.
In D2 you had Normal, then Nightmare, then Hell, but after Hell difficulty there was nothing to look forward to, nothing else to do, nowhere else to go, and you were still quite a long ways away from level 99. Is that the reward? Nothing extra, nothing to do? That's terrible!
Id much rather have the game just keep offering a higher level of difficulty until I can just no longer handle it. Doing Baal runs all day because he was the toughest thing in the game, and therefore gave the highest EXP, is dreadfully boring and repetitive. By having something that is ALWAYS tougher, you will be able to play the entire game over and over rather then just the small 1% at the end.
Even when you reach 99 and can no longer level. It would become a testament to your skill and character build to show how far you can get before you simply cannot go any further. You might be able to brag about how good your char is by how far they were able to get.
Having something to look forward to is the reward for getting stronger. Having nothing is the exact opposite.

* Random Quest should be in there, but it shouldn't be the best way to get better gear.
Why not?
By having it be random quests, you ensure players will always be doing something different and new. Killing new monsters, fulfilling different goals, running different areas. Much better then killing the same Boss over and over and over until your 99.

I like this idea. You're basically proposing auto-leveling and post-leveling. How is this going to work, though?
Having monsters that level up with you would solve the problem.
No, we don't want that. It would eliminate the character's ability to go back and MF areas quickly, etc., I can safely say it would destroy everything Diablo stands for. Automatic autoleveling (per your level) for all monsters is not needed in a LINEAR game because there is basically no point to it.
It would work better on some sort of a post level, such as another Normal-Nightmare-Hell sequence you can go to, and they would depend not on your level (in which case at level 99 everyting would stop) but on area, as usual.

Equinox is completely right with this. I remember that for me, this ruined Oblivion for me. There was almost no point in leveling because everything leveled with you.
Honestly, there's no reason to eliminate boss runs and things of that nature. People STILL do that in Diablo 2 to this day. Once you go through the story about a hundred times with different characters, you're going to simply want to do runs rather than go through the story AGAIN.
Also something like 'daily quests' could be used to add variety, I know its a WoW feature, and they tend to not be popular, but assuming the quests were good it would definitely add to the game. Just none of this collect X of Y and return it to Z BS...
