Hmm. i'm not that fanatical blizz maniac that thinks D3 will be the best game ever made just because blizz are making it. Actually blizz have a considerable list of failures, like Lord of Destruction wich is one of the worst expansions ever made, the ackward path that wow have taken ( when wow starts it should be a PvP faction mmorpg but suddenly all just became a freaking boss raiding) and terrible fact that they count to much with patchs, so they launch the game filled with flaws and imperfections.
The greatest things about D3 imo is the fact that they have seen the gigantic flaws in D2, like the trade system, the lack of interesting content, the mindless gameplay and the inventory. Those issues are been fixed one by one and i hope it have a much more modern desing then D2 and it's childrens (wich is basically walk forward and kill stuff).
Another great thing in D3 is what Jay Wilsom said about the boss fights. He said it's influenced by Zelda, God of War and WoW, all games with brilhant boss fights.
About the skills/stats, i dont now if I like it or not. It's surely a evolution if we consider D2, but when i think about games with balanced skill/stats that looks like diablo, man, i got really sad.
/agree. I'd add Warcraft 3 to the list though, that was a failure for me. But nothing even approaches the complete and utter reversal I've gone through after experiencing WoW, from blizzard being absolutely the best company ever to just another cash whore.
Thank you for acknowledging Wc3. I think Blizzard majorly screwed the whole warcraft universe, starting with Wc3. The whole "over the top" (worst idea ever) fantasy totally killed it, not to mention basing the gameplay on RPG heroes. Wc3 only redeeming quality was the map editor IMO, and even that is now only by DotA.
On D3, I like the fact that the weapons are still somewhat realistic, not swords that end bigger than they started, like in (ugg) Wc3. The outdoors environment is pretty nice too, with the exception of the smoot, painted, unrock-like rocks.

D3 Pros: Outdoors environment, night time environment, female Barbarian, rune spell system, the Wizard class
D3 Cons: Fantasy architecture, fantasy armor, fanstasy weapons, no shaders.
The Diablo III environments are definitely a pro.
I also like the fact we will have real creatures and not just demons to kill. Also that you will see creatures attacking other creatures.
Maybe they can make some creatures highly territorial.
If you attack them in their territory their stats will be much higher than normal, than if you would in other areas. Only on non-Demon creatures tho.
Just a suggestion.
Might be a good idea.

Watching 240 guys talk trash about cavaliers is like two retards having a slapfight over a sippy cup.
I love the way the game looks. It's pleasant just to watch the game play. I like how there seems to be more emphasis on characters' relative sizes/silhouettes. Things like that are good for gameplay in general.

Looks to me like Diablo 3 is going to be a great game, can't wait to play a barbarian, looks so fun. People are way too picky about a game that really hasen't been exposed much.
hmmm, i say the best thing going for Diablo 3 right now, is, that it is Diablo3. But qualtiy-wise i say the best thing is that the graphics are improved and they dont have any butt-elves and you can zoom in on your character, and he/she actually looks cool.
The thing that blizzard got the most right so far are the concept pictures (sans the witch doctor and forest pictures). Honestly, I would be anticipating this game 100x more if the drawings and the feelings that they invoke actually translated accurately into the game. Same goes for allot of the imagery found on the diablo3.com website. How badass are the caldeum and tristram pages?
I know that we've only seen a small glance of the game so far, but based on the trailer it just seems alittle too cartoony and I'm not just talking about its colorfulness. Seems like they're taking away the scary aspect of diablo and generally toning it down a bit.
anyways i'm sure blizzard will do alot to improve upon the gameplay aspect, so that should make up for the somewhat disapointing graphics.
Also, I didn't know there were mana globes...(2:15)

But you say, that there are less active spells/skills.
The wizard has had 21 active skills revealed so far. And supposedly the blizzcon demo had another row with nothing in it yet. So probably around 25 active skills for each class. Which'd be an upgrade for the Barbarian at the very least. (Weapon masteries what were they thinking lul.)
Nowhere near the trainwreck of Hellgate. 6 classes! Fewer skills than Diablo 2.
Blargh, since we're just spinning our wheels here, I'll list her spells here redundantly for no reason:
Spectral Blade
Stone Skin
Mirror Image
Meteor Storm
Acid Cloud (aka cloudkill, best spell ever)
Hydra
Magic Weapon
Magic Missile
Disintegrate
Wave of Force
Arcane Orb
Slow Time
Temporal Armor
Teleport
Charged Bolt
Storm Armor
Frost Nova
Electrocute
Ray of Frost
Tornado

Well that's one minute killed. Two more years to go.
To reiterate some stuff to kill a couple more seconds:
* They're going to have far fewer passive skills than they had in the show build. They went a little crazy with them, to add some zazz.
* Each tree is more like its own self-sufficient kit. For example, the Barbarian has a few large AoE skills: Seismic Slam, Whirlwind, Zoomy Dash. Each in a different tree. Which means instead of stuff like Curses / Death Magic / Summoning or Traps / Martial Arts / Shadow Artz, the interconnecting ability types would be mixed up a bit. A Diablo 3 style Assassin would have had physical martial arts with the steel traps, and a magical martial arts tree with a few elemental traps.
Isometric look - This one's easy. It wouldn't be Diablo without it.
Health & Mana Globes - I know the potion connoisseurs don't agree, but I think this is a great addition to the game. It keeps the pace fast and frees your hand to do funner things like skill combos.
Automatic Stat Allocation - Combined with the rune system this is the right direction. Stats are a guessing game and easily break your character through patch updates. This is one of the more controversial moves they've made, however, I'm glad I wont' have to spend x amount of time going through forums to find a build that becomes nearly useless when the next patch comes out and I have to re-roll my character just to keep up with everyone else. The only alternative I can think of is allowing players to freely change their stats at any time, but that system can be abused fairly easily.
Sound Design - So far so good. The music on the Diablo III website sounds incredible and fits so well with the game. I do have a few problems with some of the voices though. The Skeleton King sounds like a chump. He's too badass to have a weak voice. I hope that was just a temporary voice for the demo.
Ragdoll Physics - Fuck yeah.
Skill Animations - These have surpassed most of my expectations. I was a little worried about how they would be handled. I'm glad they've amped them up.
Level Design - They look a lot less generic than they have in the previous games. Definitely an improvement.
Creature Design - Loving most of them as well. The cultists and improved wraiths are my favorite.

If you call utterly and completely wrong/foolish "ballsy", fine.
LoD was fantastic. 1.10 is the real enemy here.

Skill-based monster deaths - also amazing.
And the visceral feeling of all your skills is awesome too. I even like when the screen shakes a little after doing something powerful.
I'm also impressed with the sound quality of everything. Music is starting to sound more like Diablo I again, too - which wets my whistle.

I could go on and on...
I think it's going to be the greatest game ever.
I'm not worried. Blizzard will give us a sweet game. It won't meet everyone's expectations or wants, but what game ever has?
I can't wait for this game.
