I'd like to see some way to have the ability to do my D3 trading without having to go through sites like D2jsp or buying crap online. Think this site, or an official site, might open up bartering for in-game items without using actual cash trades? I'd like to see that, especially if it is run by Blizzard themselves to keep competition to a minimum. I like the "forum gold" concept, but it is operated on seedy sites and is something I would discourage.
It will be d2jsp its way to popular at this point and all the users there have pretty much agreed they will be using it for D3 (I my self am a member there)
d2jsp is fine I just hate how people purchase there forum gold

Ya pretty much this. I was a member...still have my account(s) but I really wish that FG wasnt the currency but thats all you can do the rich ppl on jsp are gonna be the rich in D3 and competing with them for stuff will be impossible
Yeah but I rember in classic back when I was poor I didn't have amazing gear, I just pked off of skill (In LoD its differant because pk relys on gear)
But they did take out rune words so maybe no enigma or something that would make the pk rely on gear?
I hope its all skill like d2 classic was
Who knows. This would be cool but assuming uniques are the best gear in the game this time hands down in the end were all gonna be gunning for them just like with rune words now...it would really be no different. But well we dont know anything really about how items are gonna be in D3 so hard to speculate. Tho if dueling is mainly skill based then yeah a site like jsp wont be as important....but gear was always a factor...just not as much in classic
If Blizz really finds a good solution to in-game trade, then I would imagine a trading forum would become secondary to the main solution Blizz has provided.
Maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part.

d2jsp doesn't matter. There'll always be someone outside the system for various reasons, and nobody is going to stop them, let alone Blizzard. What Blizzard should concentrate on is making its system better than d2jsp.
And buying in-game gold for real money is going to stay.

I dont think an out of game trading system will be needed for Diablo 3. Something similar to WoW but different and more suited for D3 specifically, but some WoW traits will be shared (which is a good thing).

Precisely. They intend to make in game trading much more efficient that how it was in D2. However, once the game comes out and we're all playing it, who knows what new sections we may create.

IF the in game trading system rocks.. people will move to that, I'm pretty sure. It is so much easier to do the dealing in game if the system works.
edit. Also the way that the item system works has a huge affect on trading. I remember in before LOD when items were not as much the number 1 thing you thought about when playing Diablo. In LOD a lot of uniques came around that were easy to farm so a huge amount of people started to only farm gear and trade it.
Even today I play the game from lvl 1- as long as I can normally and find all the items I need on the way to high levels.. something like that should be in D3 also, not that stupid ass MF running.
Out-of-game trade will mostly be superior to any form of in-game trade simply because it's out-of-game.
I don't understand that. WoW functions with an action house, and as far as I know, almost all trade is done in-game with game gold. Gold rules the economy, and everyone out there desperately tries to farm gold so they can buy things straight in-game. Never saw anyone use anything like forum gold to trade with in WoW.
Seeing as it's the same developer, I'd think Blizzard would manage to accomplish this feat again. Or have I completely missed an aspect of how trading works in WoW?
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

I'm just going to rush through the game and try and find areas where the odds of finding good items are flawed and farm them to hell before it gets patched....

People will just buy gold, which is the argument anyone against an auction house will use.
But in return I say if they can't buy gold or items, they'll pay for power leveling. Can't stop people from cheating if they want to bad enough.

I don't know if you guys are familiar with last chaos, or Guild Wars. Their trading systems are pretty nice. But like DGK said. D2jsp has been around for such a long time, and has become a big part of Diablo today, I just wish there was no way anyone could but forum gold off of them. But hey Jaguar has to make a living out of it, so I guess it does make sense after all. It's a good website once you get the hang of it.

WoW has had that from the beginning the players became accostumed to it. Where in Diablo II if you didn't trade in D2jsp you didn't get good deals (or so some people say). I remember BEFORE jsp, trading in Diablo was not a head ache at all, go in the channel write your needs or offers and call it a day. For some reason jsp just became really sucessful. Let's not forget, JSP came up with that Pindle Bot or Mephisto bot...a lot of people got sucked into it because of it. I agree with you though, if Blizzard was able to give WoW an auction house, why shouldn't they or couldn't they do the same/similar thing to Diablo III.

Similarly, an implementation like this from the beginning in D3 would squash d2jsp and the niche it fills within D2 today. or so i would think.

We don't see much WoW stuff going on JSP now do we ^^? I mean in diablo II JSP you can buy anything from a cracked short bow to perfect Faith bow down to the 1 AR ^^. And a lot of games go on in JSP, you can almost make a whole critic of each game's trading system by putting them up on a table. Which games has the most transactions going through each year. Diablo II number 1 (crappiest trading system or NON at all) and (this is just an example) Starwars Galaxy whatever or WoW (decent trading systems, or really well through out ones).

But it shouldn't be d2jsp or anything of that sort, it should be Blizzard controlled.
I agree and I hope blizzard realizes that D2jsp will completely control the economy of the game if they dont do this.
