I saw that Bashiok said we're not have runewords.
Don't you guys think we should have something to replace them?
Like at least better uniques or maybe some other source of customization,
I just really liked the fact that you could go and find all this stuff and then create an awesome runeword.
I know that they do plan to bring sets back but to make them worth while and usuable. Because in DII by the time you got a full set you could not use them or they were to weak for you. So I am interested in seeing what they are doing on that. But also i guess they plan to make gold worth something and we should be able to have more places to spend it and on better stuff. But yeah rune words were kool.
I think a good place for runes would be in the crafting. They said they plan to have that but have not released how they plan to do it. Would be a good fit for them there.
I think runewords were awesome, they kinda defined the whole multiplayer experience, and were the epitome of L33tness. The only thing that got in the way were the dupes and other shit. I am sad that they will not be returning.

And runewords are a 'source of customization'... how?
If they implement them right this time and not make then the most obviously best pieces of gear in the game they could be

As far as I recall, from the gameplay-vids, you can enhance your skills, or make them work in different ways, by adding runes to them in the skill-tree.
For instance, I remember the WD imbue his fireball-skill with a rune, that made it bounce or burn
I think there is a specific video on this ?
ummmmm hes talking about runewords as in items you make out of runes....were not talking about adding them to skills here...
I always thought it would be cool if when you created the rune word the runes disappeared so no one knew the formula except you.
I want to see a comeback for the sets again though.. sets were/are an amazing idea... maybe they could have interchangeable sets...? Like 6 or 7 sets per char that could all be interchangeable, having different effects when equipped with the other.
Skill runes are also an amazing idea. I think.
We must accept that Diablo 2 is just that. Runewords are not making a comback. Which I think is for the better.
I'm sure we will have a replace to the old runeword system.
A more elaborated socket / gem system, craft system or any new feature relative to item customisation that we don't know yet. They never take out something without put another better thing in it's place you know?
I don't mind runes going away. They changed in value 2 or 3 times a patch and I always had to go do extensive research on several different forums to find out wth anything was worth every time I started playing again. Gold is just easier in every aspect. Plus, you can get a lot more specific with your prices, so no one's getting ripped off... unless one of them is extremely naive.
Runewords single-handedly (however you spell that) destroyed D2 and all of its fun. They basically made every item in the game which was good, completely useless. They also promoted duping and made every player in the game on a much closer playing field by allowing so many people to get any runeword that is desired. Runes were supposed to be incredible difficult to find for a reason, so that only the elite players would be able to forge these elite items although duping allowed for any player to get these elite items such as Enigma..... Imo of course...

I'm just thinking since they're taking out the runewords, maybe they should add in another system of armor customization, I was thinking of enchanting or something that would allowed you to make the items "yours". (I don't play WOW)
And as for runewords, they could always just put in some effort and balance them.
I'm 95% sure D3 will have runewords, except that they won't be making use of "runes" and thus won't be called "runewords". Meh.
So you're saying they'll practicaly be changing nothing. Your indifference echoes, don't forget.

For me it doesn't matter if it's usable. The more diverse the game is the better.
Runes, gems, all that. It's about getting people hooked.
It would be really cool if you could find a : let's call it socketed sword (where before you could add a rune, you can now add a pommel). You gain pommels the same way you gained runes, which in fact seems to have not changed anything at all. You would have come to the same conclusion Blizzard.
What you CAN do is add monster eyes, fingers, tongues, scales and all kind of other trophies or tokens that could later be used as either charms or infused inside the sword/armor/whatever like the runes were.
Off topic-but I would like to see more pesonalized unique items from monster bosses.
Like you kill Rakanishu, you get Rakanishu's scimitar (for the first time you kill him in SP campaign that is, after that normal item generation should occur- of course implying that you actually CAN fight boss monsters more than once in the campagn).

The Barbarian is from Arreat, a very cold snowy mountain top, but they are much tougher than normal humans, so they don't need warmth.

Where are Barbarians originally from? Sumeria, or more specifically Mesopotamia, AKA Europe. Think the Alps and the Pyrenees

Imagine collecting paints/tattoos man, you chose where you put them on your body and they give you stats.
Possible scenario:
I got this swastika when my character was in prison. I got this other tatoo on my calf when my barbarian chick was sick with cancer, and this last one, the one that looks like the succubus is giving Diablo a handjob, yeah that one, that one's actually just a battlescar.

its nice to be able to find something (or in the case of d2 trade) and then use those things to make something really awesome
ahhh enigma

I can see it clearly now. The barbarian covered from head to toe in battle tatoos.
Blizzard spokesman: Now you can pump your characters so full of lead they'll be using their dicks for a pencil.
Excellent.
I know =)
Best Idea EVER
