Those diabloiii.net guys are not going to solve this before we do.... I'll do my best to make sure of that (Hopes there is actually something to solve, but doesn't really care either way because this is fun)
If they solve this I'm registering and account with them too lol:P
Seeing all of these charts reminds me of both the layers of hell in Dante's Inferno(The layers could correlate to the different things listed, like the wizards, avengers, n whatever) and most importantly the universe in norse myth whuch had a specific structure. There was a huge tree around the middle of which was midgard or middle-earth(sounds familiar to LOTR fans cuz tolkien was a HUGE fan of norse myth.)
Now Sanctuary is in essence, a middle-earth, where the human world is between hell and heaven. Just like How Midgard is above the horrifying realms of the giants and trolls and below Asgard (Which is the Norse equivalent of Heaven, or rather, where the Divine Gods dwell)
WHOAH waitasec... Trang-oul is a dragon that carries Sactuary right? Jormungand, or the Midgardsorm is the name for a huge dragon which encircles Midgard(the human world).
Maybe the final thing will be that Diablo and his brethren bring about some sort of Ragnarok
Just wondering, has anyone tried comparing the 9 circles of the text with Dante's 9 circles of hell?
With the ones that came out with a good translation I was able to determine:
6 The wizards or high priests
Which corresponds with the 6th layer of hell - Heretics
Then the 7th - Avengers
which corresponds with the 7th layer of hell, the violent.
I bet we'll have to travel into hell to kill the the prime evils. In the book Diablo: The Black Road it says that a you must slay a demon in his own realm for him to actually die. I think this is at least part of the answer to this puzzle.
Yeah, but didn't we killed Diablo twice in Hell? Hell is his realm, right?
Right. But diablo couldn't be killed because of the soul stone, but now we 've destroyed the soul stone in the hellforge. Theorically, diablo and mephisto are dead by now.
However the worldstone was shattered and anything can happen. Thats why D3 will be filled with rainbows and giant pussycats.
And for the guys who are making this research, I can only say have fun. Occultist, cabalistic and marsonic symbols are all around games for some reason (problably the art guys want to make it just mysterious and tip 'magic symbol' in google and take the ones they think it's cool).
However it's not the case anyway.
No, their soulstones only bound them to the mortal world. I know the prime evils are returning.
Well, the Barbarian is on top of the "vanquished Diablo." Said Diablo is also in the teaser trailer which is said to be a patchwork of all of the in-game cinematics. Therefore, the new look for Diablo is present in the in-game cinematics. They didn't create a brand new look for Diablo just so he could guest star in a cinematic. The game is still called Diablo, even. So I'd say you're correct in this assumption.

Exactly, Evil needs to exist somewhere for good to exist at all.
The error in that logic is taking for granted that Good still exists. I agree with you, but that's a potential flaw in your argument.
Apparently you overlooked the part where I said "I agree with you".
"For Good to exist, Evil must exist. Therefore, Evil must exist." That's what you're saying and it doesn't quite make logical sense yet. You left out everything about Good and how it must exist.
Besides, all we've seen is the Tristram Cathedral and the Leoric Highlands anyway. I don't think we've even had an opportunity to see any Good in-game yet. All we've seen is some concept art that we can't place on a timeline and Tyrael in the Cathedral on the homepage.
Maybe Evil's destruction in Sanctuary forced Tyrael back to the High Heavens because of an imbalance in Good/Evil presence? That would explain both why Tyrael has been missing and why the Hells haven't invaded yet. They both have to enter Sanctuary at the same time.
Iuno. But you still made a logical error, so nyeh. The end.
As stated before, Zauberer means Wizard/magician/illusionist etc., and although I have no clue for the purpose of adding (: : ) those sign, Prestigiatore is an Italian word and it means exactly the same thing as Zauberer.
My translation atemp, with some clarification:
Bose und Verdammt Seelen = Evil and damed soul
This one's pretty straightforward, although I have no clue why there's a huge - g - in the middle.
Die verSucher = The tempter
Someone also suggested The seeker or The viewfinder, which is was sucher means but I,m almost certain it should be one word (versucher - tempter) that is only separated because of the bottom part of the large - g - on the first line.
Die laesterer = The Blasphemer
Die Furien Welche Lauter Ungluck u: Boses Ausstreuen = The Furies which is nothing but misfortune: Spreading Evils
This one's tricky because ''Lauter'' has a few diferent meaning (could also mean louder or pure for exemple) but ''nothing but'' is the most fitting in the context.
Die Machten so in der lufft Heraechen = The Power that reign in the air
Although it would seam to make more sence to change 'air' for 'sky' or 'heaven', those 2 words translate to 'himmel', I beleive they would've used that word if they didn't meant to litteraly say 'air'.
Die Zauberer ( : Praestigiatores : ) = The wizard/mage
Prestigiatores also means wizard/mage in either latin or italien. A quote from a french site about the history of magic I found: ''Romans used to call Praestigiatores (from latin praestigium = prestige) professional illusionnists.''
Die Raecher Der Laster-(Thalen?) = The Avenger of Vice-?
This is the only one I'm not really sure about, 'Laster' means 'Vice', but I just can't figure out what the second word is, it looks like 'Thalen' or 'Thaten', but those don't mean anything. It could just be 'Criminal' (Vice-doer?), as proposed before.
Die Gefaesse der Bosheit = The Vessel of Malice/spite
Gefaesse is usually a container such as a plastic bottle, or potterie vase but in this case I think it would be apropriate to consider that the 'Vessel' being mantioned could be a human body being a host to something, such as when Diablo possessed our character at the end of D1, or Tal'Rasha/Baal.
Grausame Finsterniss = Horrible/terrifying (Darkness OR Eclipses)
The way 'Finsterniss' is written is kind of weird, because 'Finsternis = darkness' and 'Finsternisse = Eclipses', or it could be darkness caused by an eclipse, or by a cloud of smoke (I.E. one caused by a meteor impact) 'eclipsing' the sun's light. Who knows!
Or maybe it has nothing to do with anything, and we're all wasting our time... But w/e, I like misteries
Yeah. Theres no mystery, they just think that this symbol fits the game context.
And von Welling words problably means what will reign in Satan's helm. As some occultists and theologs believe, human society will be, step by step, this helm.
Putting it in Diablo's storyline, i think it just means the conquest of sanctuary by hell's lords.
Okay I just read this whole thread so I can keep up! lol What was that word? For abyss? I believe it it indeed the return of an evil that is banished as of now, but will return. And here is my take on the lines:
Angry and damned souls -->The prime evils (or if no one has considered Azmodan and Belial's feud to be over, well)
The daring -->The heroes that came and stopped the 3 prime evils (Diablo 2 heroes, us)
The criminals -->This screams of vagueness. I could say everything evil, I could say citizens who are corrupt
The fire that only brings evil and misfortune-->This could be double or single meaning for the meteor or the burning hells physically
The powers that rule the sky -->Could be the meteor, could be the angels all together, having the sky be referred to as the sky but it may really be the Angiris council (sky is often referred to heaven in some cases)
The wizards ( : high priests : ) Definitley Horadrim
The avengers of criminals -->This links back to criminals. Who would avenge such people? This makes me think the 3 prime evils are criminals, at a point in their demon-divine lives where they are weak, whom would avenge them? This strengthens my argument of Belial and Azmodan. Or perhaps Lilith, etc.
The feared of evil --> The feared of evil, that which fears evil. This could mean the entire population of sanctuary! Or this could refer to the plan that the lessers had to overthrow the primes.
Terrifying darkness -->A prophetic line, nevertheless, but could also have regards to the abyss that was recently talked about. prophetic in the sense(if thats the way you take it) if you think 'hey, this could be a scroll from 200 years after these events, when things chill down. Maybe some philosopher is writing of times of old, how people in real events in real days (reality) do, when you read up on something, how dramatic they make it!' then this conjecture merely leads back to the idea of a filler for some space on the site. Because why make it seem so epic, when the effect is that of reality, and that it makes you think it was not that epic?
And then this similar translation: (I will skip to the new information in this part) 1. Grausame Finsterniss - horrible darkness-
2. Die Gefaesse der Bosheit - The containers of maliciousness/evil -->CONTAINERS. this could refer to the darkness, the abyss. Or to the heroes in D2 (which i like best) 3. Die Raecher der (Lasterhaften) ? - The avengers of the depraved -->Depraved(to speak ill of, to corrupt morally) this reeks of heresy or -which I like more- the corruption of the worldstone! The avengers of the morally corrupt. Corrupt worldstone. Tyrael destroyed that sum bitch.
4. Die Zauberer (: Praesti(g?)(i/t/f)ato(r/n)es - The wizards (: ?
5. Die Machten so in der Luft Herrschen - The Forces which reign in the Air (which rule the sky?)
6. Die Furien welche lauter Unglueck u. Bosheit ausstreuen - The furies which spread harm and misfortune--> Now what would spread harm and misfortune? And is furious in manner? And is plural? Prime or lesser. Next..
7. Die Laesterer - the blasphemers -->Ooooh. Blasphemers is a neat word for me. Depending on devoutness to heavens or hells, (im going with heavens) blasphemers could mean all of the burning hells. But it seems to single someone for me. blasphemers. like a title, and not all in hell should be known as blasphemers, but all should be known as mistake-makers and place-holders. No, I definitely believe it stands for something greater. The avengers of the depraved made me think of heresy. I'm connecting the two, but I won't go Leo X on you! lol
8. Die Versucher - The tempterers-->Once again, a strange word for me. Tempters tempt. A tempterer? The act of being a tempter? I won't delve into this meaning until someone can provide a logical meaning for tempterer. I'm not prepared for such suffix-terrorER!
9. Boese und verdammte Seelen - Evil and damned souls-->Finally, the end. Evil and damned souls carry the same meaning for me as do the prime evils. calling them evil and damned makes me think prime instead of lesser. Now that is my theory on everything. I may have repeated others, but I had to to make my point. Last point, that word that meant abyss, and we thought could also be god-like? I think that could point to the nephalem. This has all been mere conjecture and I would appreciate you to report this post rather than flame me for whatever reason you may have.
If they solve this I'm registering and account with them too lol:P

There is evidence of good all over the sanctuary in Diablo 3.
"For Good to exist, Evil must exist. Therefore, Evil must exist." That's what you're saying and it doesn't quite make logical sense yet. You left out everything about Good and how it must exist.
