I am sure somewhere this has been brought up, but i have to say this. It seems obvious to me that msot hardcore diablo fans would want customizable stats. Why not just have a button where you can toggle auto stats on and off. So for beginners or lazy people, you can have a well rounded average player on what you "should" put in for stats, or you can toggle the button off and put points where you want.
Personally the customization is good IMO, and i think its horrible that any customization is taken out of diablo. That is WHY diablo is so amazing.

im quite certain that some would feel it unfair then... or some bs. i think its best to be 100% one way or the other.
I agree with snow, but, if you are going to implement something like this, it should be a permanent choice for the character when you are on the character selection screen. And, it should be something that you can select when only in normal difficulty. As soon as you hit nightmare or hell, it should become your duty to add the points.
Or maybe make every character auto spend points in normal, that way everyone will end up getting a base that suits that character, and from nightmare on, you can specialize your character. That would make it easy for all the newbs that only play one act and quit, but still leave customization to the hardcore players.
I have another solution. Why not let people decide the stats and allow people to spend GOLD to change the stats/skills when they feel like it?

Actually i do not think he was being sarcastic, as he is the one that complains in his thread about the city or ureh being to big and unbelievable and all of that. I love most of what i have seen in D3 and will buy it and most likely LOVE it. But i love customization even if it is minimal and complex like stats in D2.
Just like in D2 all characters specialized in their fields from normal to hell and ended up with the same things across nearly all classes?
D2 was the exact opposite of that. Newcomers were somewhat carefree and put the points where they were most beneficial to them at that time. The longer someone played the game, the more mainstream the stats became though. I am guilty of that as well, while my first assassin had 350 hard points of strength while my last few had none. To a degree, it became a competition to see who could spend the least amount of points into stats that were necessary except for vitality. I've never even stated energy after my second character ever made.
Yeah, I understand where you are coming from. I just figured that instead of just saying the ideas suck, I want to try and present a solution to a problem (whether it is a problem or not). I honestly believe that DIII will be awesome no matter what Blizz does, and I will play it an infinite number of times. I just would rather see less complaining and more people suggesting ideas that could improve upon what Blizz has already confirmed.
I hope I didn't sound like one of the complainers earlier. If I did, I apologize, because I love the direction the game is going.
i don't know if i'm posting this in the right thread but i didn't found any other with this discussion... anyway... did anyone noticed about the elixir of vitality that is droped in the gameplay video??? anybody knows if those are going to work as they did in D1??
