ok to the people who are saying bla bla just have it as an option
In cod4 if the +10 that pops up after you kill someone was an option, would i turn it off? Fuck no because then 50% of the time i would have no idea if i killed the guy or not without looking to the bottom left of the screen. The unfortunate thing about this is that it doesnt make it feel real it makes the game feel like an arcade.
Its going to be the same with d3. if that is an option most people will use it because its really helpful and then instead of having a very d1 d2 style game without clutter on the screen we will have numbers and health bars everywhere....
I understand your point and ur concern but just to go back to the part where you say he's assuming. Yes, he might be assuming that there will be an option to turn on/off, but it's a positive assumption since Blizzard normally likes to please all players and they wouldnt leave out something like that.
On the other hand, you are assuming as well to think that Blizzard wont add that option. Your assuming negatively, seeing that without that option it's like if Blizzard got lazy and used an easy escape route which they normally dont do.
And yes, even I'm assuming but since the game isnt near release all we will get is assumptions from everyone. So please dont focus on the part of assuming.
I voted nay for obvious reasons. They are annoying, they look stupid, they are useless, just no. Then again, i can't imagine Blizzard not giving us the ability to simply turn them off, so, whatever.
they're not that useless. At least not if you get a full hit display. That way people that want to get deep into it can focus on the damage they're dealing depending on talent spec or rune usage. Of course after the whole thing is ready you could always turn it off.
Oh yeah, in the hypothetical case of, i would try to ignore the knowledge newbs actually have the shit turned on, 'cuz it would make me RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Im confused
haha
ahh ok i think i now understand where you were going with that sort of...

Exactly.....many many players from diablo 2 would of loved to see how much damage they were doing with every hit and compare it to other skills etc.....its a very useful tool but most people here dont seem to realize that

correction, people dont want that feature in the game for reasons stated already on numerous occasions.
It is extremely convienent to know how much damage you are doing. In d2 I could look at my character screen and it would tell me something along the lines of 1001-2001 damage. Now, what does that mean? Im not a number cruncher and I never will be. I could, if I wanted, sit down and figure out according to my str, dex, etc. the average amount of damage I should be doing.. but if there is a simple addition to a game to take away that waste of time Im all for it.
Im not a die hard Diablo fan by any means, its a game, I enjoy it. Having something show me how much damage I crit for would be awesome. Say I get a new weapon that does 100-200 dmg for example but has +str and +dex. Now I get another one that does the same amount of damage but has +ed% on it. Having something that tracks crit can show you within a matter of minutes which weapon is better. Its simple, its easy, it saves time.
Why are people against this feature? Please don't waste time by saying "beacuse its like WoW", thats been said, its not a valid argument. WoW was not the first to implement this system. Or the argument "it looks stupid, it looks cartoony, it doesn't look real." I may be wrong on this one but bear with me... uhm its a game? You are slowing time, shooting magic missles, summoning creatures, throwing flaming skulls and insect swarms... and for some reason people are able to look at this and say its realistic? It is an entertaining game, this would be a great feature, and it has already been concluded you will most likely be able to toggle it on/off. It takes nothing away from gameplay and adds an element that saves time and headache inducing calculations. Im all for it.
Haha moonshine, the best argument one could ever use, namely "its a game". We already got the lamo DPS i honestly fail to see how any Diablo fan would like being shown on their items, do we really need more of this utterly newbish information? Sure, i would've liked the extra damage items like Grief offered us to be calculated and shown on the character screen, but please, floating numbers telling us exactly what damage we're doing, information "calculating" for us how much 100 damage every 1.5 attacks is per second, how much the average damage is when we're doing a min of 50 and a max of 100 damage, seriously? Fuck this kiddo shit.
How in gods name is it kiddo shit? Seriously...its the kind of thing many players would like to see to help them out with things like pvp and compare numbers.......And by that I mean the actual information as if it was in some kinda combat log which i THINK were getting.,...but I guess im going off topic talking about a combat log i honestly could care less about number flashing on screen lmao.....I still dont get how its kiddy stuff tho man....
Because its silverspoonfeeding you with information any self respecting gamer, let alone Diablo player can figure out for themselves just as easy. Its for annoying kids who can't put one and two together and cry and whine about it. Might aswel put a sticker on everything reading "this is good, this is bad", why not make the game give you suggestions when you play? I'm sure none will mind, 'cuz you can turn the damn thing off, and hey, it only helps people to daft to make their own conclusions. Its, its so freaking kiddo.
Wow.... Way to blow things completely out of proportion... We just wanted to know how much we hit for. And actually it's really not for "annoying kids who can't put one and two together", it's for a certain group of players who like to know the exact amount of damage they are doing, what's the problem with that?

Well ok thats your opinion...but I think your making it seem way worse then it really is.....There are tons of games that give out this kinda info....games that even came out before diablo....it helps a lot of players who like to find the optimal setup for a character...It has no bad side effects for any player regardless I really cant see why you would be so against it lol
i for one like to see when something special happens, maybe instead of a number or the word "block" they could have a cool color or sound for critical hits, or like a few different ricochet sound when u block something.

This would probably be the best way to do this.....its probably already in the game lconsidering there was a block sound effect in D2(I think)
yeah it was in there... the same sound every time...
maybe they should just expand the range... wood shields make a thud, metal shield a twang, depending on what you block, a sword would sound different than an arrow.
3d sound is simply so amazing with the right effects. They just need to add more now...
► I suggest JW's head pooping up from the right side of the screen, telling you you did good. Haha, that would crack me up.
LOLOLOL it would be like the guys head in MK2 LOLOLOL who was it anyways?
Back on topic: @dub Lucifers post...since I cant edit this....I agree there is a lot of amazing things they would do with D3 if they payed special attention to 3D sounds it could really help the mood fo the game out.

HAHAHAHAHAHA, that made me pee a little, JUst like IN Mortal Combat,
you know I wouldn't even put that past Blizzard, those crazy axe wielding cows are slightly more strange I think.
Im not sure what team is currently on the SFX, but I pray they spend as much time possible in this category, as I feel sound is far more important that visuals.
Can you imagine it? JW's head, going like "oh that is SOOOO good, moar, MOAR...".
ahhahaha yeah.....that would be pretty funny...but ohhh how it would kill the feel of the game :P....
@dub Lucifer.....Id say they will pay attention to the sounds a lot like in previous blizz titles.....most of there games have a ton of attention to the little things

There obviously arent many people voting on this.....we got just over 40 votes? lol
Umm.. people? I do believe I am a person and would fit into the category of people, yet I want the feature.. So... Speak for yourself please.
