Having been on Diablo 2 ever since the arrival of the elusive news of Diablo 3, and beyond that, people have said both 'Yes' and 'Hell no', especially due to the approach of their art.
Even realizing this is a Diablo3 fansite (also 1 and 2 forum discussion) I'm asking you. Yes or No?
Dear God, yes. Even if I think I'll hate it, I'd never forgive myself if I didn't try it. I played the first two exclusively for 4 or 5 years and fell madly in love. I can't pass up a chance to fall in love all over again!
Depends on the reception. I'm never the one to preorder or run off to try it the moment it comes out, so if it's a failure like Hellgate and I hear of it, chances are I won't buy it...
Seeing as to how diablo 1 rocks, and diablo 2 is my favorite game of all time, i am no doubt going to pick diablo 3 up. It would take something huge (in a bad way) for me to not buy it. Like monthly payments that are uneccesary, and EXTREME casualization (dumbing down) of it (I personally felt diablo 2 was a good difficulty, as hell provided a challenge and there was lots to do and customize). The auto stats they have in mind are not to bad, but still. To me, that is an element of customization that is welcomed for the hardcore crowd (which i would say most are), but because of the people who dont know how to manage their character, we loose our customization. I am sure they will make up for it, but maybe they should rethink how they do stat assigning slightly.
haha right on Milanv..although i dont know its quite an obligation to buy EVERY ONE of them : P...i am only a big diablo fan from blizzard, but i am getting all of valves games haha. Diablo 2 is my favorite game ever! i cant wait for three.
Like most games, upon a new release, D1 , It was a hit. Then D2 was created. When Blizzard saw that people still played D2 eight years later, they decide to surprise us by saying "There is no D3." Which made a lot of people angry, but they lied and D3 was born 4 years earlier. Shortly after they announce D3, and with the utmost intensity, Diablo fans roar for its release. Now Blizzard is giving us the silent treatment (lack of information).
Rumor is that its akin to WoW, but I disagree (well, I sure as hell hope it isnt).
Diablo has been a great franchise, now D3 is in 3D.
The videos Ive seen (the few that there are) are great and very promising.
I would have to say, yes.....not just yes, but HELL YES.
I rest my case.

Of course we will... wether or not it is any good remains to be seen.

What is normal? Normal is a concept that everyone or a majority of people are the same or similar. However, we know that everyone is unique. If everyone is unique, then everyone is different. If everyone is different, then everyone is weird. If everyone is weird, then everyone is normal.
First, RPG's are good for kids. They learn a lot about teamwork, sharing, forward planning and plain consideration for others. I've used computer RPGs professionally with good results. This includes Diablo I, Diablo II and the expansion pack.
Trouble is that I have responsibility for the people in my care. Not Blizzard. Not BattleNet. ME!
Since the buck stops in a real sense on my desk I need total control over the playing environment. This means being able to decide who - and who does not - play with my people.
That means LAN. Not BattleNet or 'closed' games with people I may not know anything about. My risk, my responsibility - and my decision!
I'm sure Diablo III will be a great game in every respect and for people who are adult I'd say go for it. Unfortunately if I don't have control over the playing environment (meaning LAN) then I won't be purchasing.
Pity because the problem isn't finance or game quality, production values or whatever. Just security for people I care rather a lot about.
There's always Sacred 2 which IS LAN capable.
OK last time I mentioned LAN I got a lot of adolescent snarling in reply. Frankly I don't care - this is about feedback for a company whose products I respect.
Battle Mage, I thank you for your reply but unfortunately that is not a solution for me. It would still involve working off site. Policy (mine) prevents this.
And Diablo 3 is 99.9% sure to be rated M. So it is NOT good for kids. That shows how much responsibility you have for them. Find them something else to play on LAN.
And everyone who played Diablo 1 as an 8 year old, please shut the fuck up about the mature ratings and other bullshit. Everyone played these games as a kid and nobody go crazy over it...
The ratings do not cover multiplayer. Which is the most horrible ground of any game our there, really. It has more crap than a mature game ever will.

Statement 1 is false, not everyone who played Diablo 1 is an eight year old.
Secondly, if he doesn't want to play a game without LAN capabilities, that's his choice. He already stated that he'd enjoy the game, saying primarily what everyone else said "It's going to be good" Yadda yadda.
I'm going to pre-order the game. If there's a Collector's Edition, I'll definitely get that.
MATURE
Titles rated M (Mature) have content that may be suitable for persons ages 17 and older. Titles in this category may contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language.
Just because a game is rated high doesn't mean that parent's cannot buy the game for their children, or that they can't download the game without parental consent. The system is in place to let parents know what'll be in a game (and to what degree).
Then again, I know of a lot of parents who really don't care what their children play. Parental responsibility doesn't fall on the companies' shoulders. With the internet as open-access as it is, you shouldn't wonder how that kid get access to things like the Anarchist's Cookbook, pr0n, or an M rated game.

There is an element of balance in all things. We are not bound to the 'ratings system' to the extent that we cannot use our own judgement. Certainly the game may be rated 'M' but personally I find nothing objectionable about Blizzard's approach and the violence is no more explicit than that in the cartoons we all loved as children or the 'Fairy Tales' of a preceding generation. Compare also the Diablo games with the plays of Shakespeare which are presented to adolescents at a fairly impressionable age.
Hopefully Battle Mage is correct and a LAN patch will be released at some stage (which is why I am still posting in this forum)

What the hell.... What does google have to do with anything? Do you know what you are talking about?
I for one will be buying Diablo 3, as well as Starctaft 2. Blizzard has yet to disapoint me in terms of gaming... yet.
Let me explain....
First, RPG's are good for kids. They learn a lot about teamwork, sharing, forward planning and plain consideration for others. I've used computer RPGs professionally with good results. This includes Diablo I, Diablo II and the expansion pack.

And for Blizzard, two words... CLIENT FOCUS!

As far as the rating system... I quote from www.esrb.com/ratings/ratings_guide.jsp
