Hey, I had a few questions about new stuff, I havent played since the cube released, and now that I've got it, I wanted to know a few things.
-Is getting cube materials for recipes only obtainable through bountys? Will you get more materials for completing them by doing a higher torment? Is it worth it? Is there an optimal route to complete them or is it worth it to do them all?
-How does the new rift system work? Nephalem rifts are free to join, and they give you GR keys to use on whatever? Is paying the extra on greater rifts worth it for the item?
-What classes are currently strong? My highest solo rift was my barb and DH that could do high 50's, but I see people are at 90+ now. Who should I consider gearing?
- Depends on the recipe, but for two of them (re-rolling a legendary, extracting legendary powers) you need bounty mats. There's no other source to get those mats.
- Yes, you get more mats for higher difficulties, but there are thresholds; for example, you should never do T2-T6 bounties or T8/T9. Only T1, T7, or T10 (or Hard if you can't do it on Torment). This might be useful: http://d3resource.com/difficulties.png
- You should always hand the bounties in at Tyrael when they're bonus bounties. One act is always "bonus bounty" which means you get twice the materials from this bounty. Once you hand that act in, the bonus bounty switches to another act. Most groups in communities do an entire set of all five acts to get all 10 caches (2 from each act) by handing them all in in the order of the bonus bounties. You need all materials anyways for the cube recipes.
- Yes, Nephalem Rifts are free to join, and they give GR keys depending on difficulty (again, look at the chart: http://d3resource.com/difficulties.png - T7 and up have a chance for a second key). You should try to play T6 or higher if you can; going up is fine as long as you don't get significantly slower.
There's a meta when it comes to endgame, but we're talking about Greater Rift 80+ and paragon 1000+ here. At the start really really really just play any class you like. All that stuff of "class X is super OP" is of no relevance for someone who's new to the game or coming back after some time, and you won't lose more than 1-2 days of playtime when you decide to switch classes later on. The people that play 90+ aren't Average Joes, don't look at those; for the Season Conquest you only need a GR75 solo and every class can do that.

Just looking at the seasonal leaderboards (Shift-L) on the PTR... Sader and Wiz look to be strong and the other classes are about 10+ Grift levels below them. Interestingly, the nonseason leaderboards are much more balanced with the only clear leader being the Wiz.
Your main character should be a class you just enjoy playing... and make a few alternate or support characters if you are so inclined.
The new patch/season starts on the Live servers this week and I will have a DH as my main and make a WD and a Sader as alts (I love the idea of the wiz but the playstyle is not fun for me). I would guess there will be a lot more nonseasonal play this time around since the seasons journey is a joke to complete a bit on the easy side.
Good hunting.

- If you ask 5 people about which class is the strongest, you will get 10 answers ;-) And all of them will be biased. Check out how equally distributed the class choice of people in S6 is: http://www.diablofans.com/forums/diablo-iii-general-forums/diablo-iii-general-discussion/172252-what-class-you-going-to-play-on-season-6
