ok so here's the idea... i kinda thought that in diablo 2, you kinda just magically learned the spells. thats fine, but i would like to see some of the better skills actually require a quest to get them. but it would work off of blizzards "random quest" idea. you would be in Tristram, and then, i dunno...you would find a book that tells you about a great sorceres that aquired a great power (it could be the sorceres from d2, heh) and you can go on this quest to try and find the sorceres and learn some cool new skill. give me your feedback plz

I personally like this idea as it gives a way of obtainign a spell, rather than just levelling and going "Oh hey I think I'll just randomly elarn how to do ____".
However as a counterpoint, I don't think any passive skills should be included in "skill quests". And in fact, maybe about half the active spells should be obtained through a quest, and you can only spend level up skill points on the passive skills and early active spells for customization of batle style?

That's actually kind of a cool idea. I suppose it would give you more satisfaction by earning a skill, rather than just waiting to "unlock" it, so to speak, by leveling.
The way they did this in Guild Wars works really well.
There is a Sigil you can use that has a percentage chance of stealing a skill from a monster. Then you have to seek out monsters in an area of the world that has the skill you need, and try to steal it from them.
It's a lot like Pokemon, for that matter.
Anyway, worked for both of those games..would be cool for Diablo as well.
There should be diffuculty-level based quests. Quests that you can only get on either normal, nightmare, or hell mode. And the rewards in Hell mode quests would be very grand... Yet challenging...
Class specific quests where completing them adds an additional point (and maybe max skill point) in a particular skill that is considered useful to that character.
Eg. Barbarian completes quest, Whirlwind now has 21 skill points, and you now have an extra point in it
Wizard completes quest, Chain Lightening (or Electrocute) now has 16 points and you now have an extra point in it
Can encourage people to experiment the rune system with different skill, whilst not wasting any "skill points" per se.
These quests would then be discovered, and people could make builds from the beginning based on what skills get the extra points (despite the game being more tactically and gameplay focused than just numbers)
