'>There are no attribute requirements for items, that would essentially limit items to specific classes which we don’t intend to do outside of actual class specific items, like the Wizard’s off-hand orb for instance.

You need only just ask
Annnnd with that, we can stop hearing all the crying about people wanting to make a bow barbarian or a melee wizard because now they can
Except a melee wizard will have the "Strength" and "Vitality" of a Wizard and so will be gimped beyond your control, as well as having ridiculous mana that he does not need as he is not casting at enemies he is meleeing them to death...
Losing customization is a poor choice for Blizzard. I would have rather seen them give alternate reasons for upping stats that normally wouldn't matter to classes (eg mana for barbs and strength for wizards). Give me a reason to up the stat and I will try it out (like the afformentioned melee wizard which you made skills for, but don't support it with stats...)

Equip gears giving you strength...
By the way, in diablo 2, you sorcs had less Hp by Vit points etc so it was still not very good to do a melee sorc.
In diablo 3, it will be the same thing, doable but not the best. Good like this anyway, a melee wizard shouldn't be as good as a barb...

So then everyone has the same melee Wizard wearing the same +Strength gear? How silly is that?
I prefer customization. I would like a Melee Wizard to stand a chance against a Barbarian, since they gave us the option to make one. Otherwise why bother? Give different reasons for upping the stats and you have stopped "dump stats"
Hmm...attribute requirements removed from equip...its almost too core of a concept to imagine changing. I have to admit though, it's going to be pretty nice being able to put on ANYTHING I find as long as I meet the level requirement (presumably these will still exist?).
Bashiok has hinted that there are some unrevealed gameplay mechanics specifically designed to increase replay value, as well as some to further increase character customization. By the way, the little circular thing inbetween weapons in the inventory screen was previously used to hold gems that modified character stats. Jay mentioned that this feature has probably been removed. I like the idea of using socketed gems in this fashion to control attributes, if we cant control attributes by leveling. At least that way you get some control over it.
Anyway, it's hard to complain about replay value lost due to respeccing without knowing what new features they are going to add as far as replay value go. Hopefully hes not just referring to the increased randomness of quests, or to the class specific quests. I cant imagine what would bring more replay value than not being able to respec but I guess we can just wait and see.
so now a WD or a Wizard will be able to equip the "heaviest" armor in game while it's only normally meant for body-builder type characters like Barb and Paladin, or wielding a hammer that weighs 100kg??????? what??????
Well, a WD in the heaviest armor, while possible, isn't ideal or good since all power comes from gear now. The stats would be too melee driven and wouldn't benefit him aside from armor and devilish good looks.
Oh lol, its even worse then i thought.
Apart from this system doing nothing more then catering to kiddies that get annoyed at not understanding how to built characters it also removes the need to have certain stats for particular items, which makes it all even more moronic.
Whats even the freaking point? Seriously, just do away with stats alltogether then, a Wizard is just less strong as a Barbarian and thats that, hey, Diablo 3 might even be a mundane God Of War clone action whatever game.
Fuck this shit.
The problem with Blizzard isn't that they have become this evil company set out to damage a well respected franchise, the problem is that they have been doing nothing more then WoW for half a decade. Honestly, no disrespect to them creating that huge phenomenon, and to some extend i can understand them living and breathing the same thing for all that time due to being overjoyed with the reception it got. But they have completely and UTTERLY lost touch with the other franchises and fanbases. They simply are CLUELESS and they don't know any better. Don't tell me a big and respected and talented company like Blizzard is unable to fail this hard, there have been plenty examples of similar companies unwillingly alienating strong fanbases and destroying their own franchises. What a big disappointment this has become. Sure, to some extend i knew it was going to be hard to pull away from what they have been exclusively doing for years on end and get back into what made those other franchises unique, but i didn't know Blizzard neutered themselves this much due to their own monster succes they had with WoW. On a positive note, i learned another lesson, never underestimate the influence of too much succes with a one hit wonder.
You really really do hate any and all news you hear about this game don't you? =P
Some vendetta against WoW too?
But I'll spare you the tongue lashing and just say...
Give it some time and perhaps it might grow on you and you might even end up liking D3 and laughing about this eventually. Don't get so worked up about it- it's development time- things will evolve and the end product will be good because Blizzard has never released a bad game despite all the people that whined about their games while it was in production phase (trust me WCIII and WoW had its share of such people pre-release as well).
Blizzard's not infallible...but they sure as hell aren't stupid and I can say with confidence that I trust them to make a great game because my money spent over the years from vanilla warcraft to Diablo to starcraft and WoW - it's all been well worth it.

Sorry that blizzard failed you. There's other quality pc games coming out right!?
I love no stat requirements for items. I believe that although there won't be class-specific items, I do think there will be modifiers like +attribute / +skill / to certain items that will benefit other classes. Since I believe it's been established that attributes like Strength increase physical damage, it's more sensible for a Barbarian to wear a +20 strength plate armor, but if a Wizard wants to wear it as well that's fine.
Is it too much to ask that since all the classes are so different, that the attributes could work differently for others?

Hell yeah...have you not seen the new C&C Red Alert? Lol that is one franchise that has been super duper turned inside out wtfluxed upside down mofo'd and hobagged. They build up a story and tear it down with the next one lol. Well i guess that's what happens when you screw with the CHRONOSPHERE BIATCHES!

Melee wizard can spec for the melee type of skills: Weapon Mastery - 0/15: Increases physical damage done by all weapons by 15.
Damage Resistance - 2/15: Increases armor by 10% and all resistances by 8% (next point armor by 15% and all resistances by 12).
Stone Skin - Rank 0/1: Shield yourself with rock and stone absorbing 30 damage. Lasts 8 sec. Mana cost: 12. Cooldown: 15 Sec.
Conjured Armor - Rank 0/15: Magical armor surrounds the wizard increasing block chance by 2%
+ more and more. You can fill your sockets with +hp/+str proably. Also the gear choices will pump your melee durability.

Most probably.
Removing it would be retarded lol, a level 1 with godly items.

‘I'M NOT LEAVING UNTIL WE ALL HAVE AIDS!’—The importance of calling them ‘mercenaries.’
It is official that most items will not be class specific, although there will be some class specific items, such as the wizard's staff.
