-For one thing I don't think 4 player Co-op would be a terrible number to go with, Yes it cuts down on lag and server strain but camon now 4 people is not enough to really quest, or PVP. Number needs to be at 6 or 7 IMO.
-Fixed Stats, on the bright side you wont have this anymore
STR-Enough for equip
Dex-Enough for Max Block
Vita-rest goes here
Energy-None here
Well the drawback to this is huge towards the fanbase, people liked control over their character now you can only build through getting items. I like the idea of a more focused on items but all Blizzard has to do is make Attribute important.
Using D2's Attributes as an example.
STR-Damg reduced, Max Damg, and Attack Rate.
Dex-Min Damg, Shield absorption, block rate, defense rate, and less chance at flinching
Vita-Increased health, small resit bonus.
Energy-Increased energy, increase spell damage, increase skill damg, and magic resist,
As you can see if they put more importance with each attribute they make each attribute very desirable and too important.
-additional content, well it sounds like they will have content that will be avaible at a price. Now I can't help but say why? Has Blizzard really become that money hungry? Do they not make a fortune every year with Wow? Surely they can't be serious about actually charging people small fee's for content that could be added through a free patch. I mean its really bad enough that Diablo 3 is using so many WOW features as is and is really changing how Diablo was. I didn't really care about the art style I liked the direction it was going in and I knew why it was so "colourful" in the begining. But now all this Camon Blizzard don't ruin this please by totally bastardizing the game.
I know they have said that the stats were fixed, but I really feel as though that was for the demo only. A bunch of the Wizard talents refer to stats....why would they make skills contingent on stats if the stats will be fixed? Seems strange. It seems sensible to have auto-stats in the demo though so that players can actually equip what drops and get to see it on their characters and whatnot. I don't really see that being the case in the actual game.
As for Co-Op....I think they will have separate games for PvP, which will allow for better combat and more focused PvP rather than "meet me outside town". I think that the four player limit will only be applied to games you play along with other players, not PvP. It would be nice to see 5 players so you can have one of each class though.
I don't know what "additional content that will be available at a price" you are talking about. Please explain, I don't think blizzard will ever charge additional content for stuff that will make another player stronger than another player because he has more cash to spend. It will anger a lot of people.
Let me find the article but its microtransactions or so ive heard. I think it was at the presser they were asked if there was going to be a monthly fee and they responded with no monthly fee but perhaps extra content that will be at a price. I'm not sure 100% but its on the realm of additional content or P2P Bnet.
on the subject of microtransactions, how many websites are there that sell diablo 2 gear such as runes, weapons, rings and armor? once you have looked into that i think microtransactions is just there big word for they want in on that part of the bizness lol, just a thought
True but I think when they say Microtransactions they mean "Were unlocking a special area that will drop special items only at a price of $5." OR Sidequest package 1 for 10$, or something along those lines.
If this transaction of money results in the user paying getting some type of advantage over other players then they've instantly ruined the game. All these new controversial gameplay and art ideas that people are objecting too are fine imo because the game is still essentially Diablo and we can all just get used to the new gameplay. But any mention of additional fees and no thank you
I'm not paying monthly fees, even for the greatest game in the world
that being said - I don't beleive Blizzard will impliment monthly fees... but this quote
yes blizzard is a money monger. 100%. theyre a business just like pizza hut or wal mart. i could be way off here but i beleive that a reason that they are doing some of the things that they are is to draw in players from their 10 million+ WoW fanbase.
whether or not i agree with the fixed stats, i cannot say. ill have to play the game to decide that. i dont think its as big of an issue as some people are making it though.

I've never really understood why someone would even want to make a necromancer or a sorc for melee, anyways..

Because some people are not mindless sheep.
Fixed Stats is a carryover from the WoW developers working on D3. Its a stupid system that pigeonholes every single character into the same role. Builds are SOLELY based on skills, and there's no originality.
Take the WoW Rogue as an example. To be "effective" in both PvE or PvP, there's only a couple of builds you can really use, with very little variation. Try to enter a raid group as a Subtlety Rogue, and you get kicked off because you're not the accepted Combat/Swords build that 99% of the Rogues out there are. Try to be PvP without speccing dual Mace, and you fail utterly.
You can look at hundreds of Armory pages across various guilds, and every class is represented generally by only a very few builds because these are the only effective ones that the game is balanced for.
I will say this, my most enjoyable character in D2 was my Meleemancer. Hacking away with my sword, while my Golem buddy backed me up, whilst cursing enemies to attack each other, make them blind, etc. Was MUCH more entertaining than Bone Spirit, ad infinitum.
If D3 has fixed stats or any pay features other than the initial box price, I won't be purchasing it. And these changes and "hints of doom" by Jay Wilson without any explanation as to why or what they could be has only cemented the issue. As I said before, these events have made Blizzard's work to attract buyers more difficult, they will have to prove that its better to me, I will not be an auto-consumer.
I know they have said that the stats were fixed, but I really feel as though that was for the demo only. A bunch of the Wizard talents refer to stats....why would they make skills contingent on stats if the stats will be fixed? Seems strange.
its not strange at all. Thats how the equipment you choose together with the spec you decide to have will affect both your looks and your playstyle.
for example this spell of the Wizard:
Empowered Magic
Rank 0/15
Increases the effect of Willpower on your spell damage by 30%.
it will make it so that if you use items with a high amount of Willpower, you'll gain additional bonus from your spells.
Simple +vitality items with +1/2 skills wont be as good because the stats will be made much more important.Remember how useless energy used to be in Diablo 2? Thats not going to happen in Diablo 3 and i very much like it so.

Because not everyone wants to make the same cookie cutter builds which already are on b-net...
Customization = Diversity = Personal gaming experience!
customization through items also adds to diversity and personal gaming experience. Its just that some classes are made for one thing and some classes for another.
You'll still be able to make a melee Wizard, there are talents for it too, and you'll get to use items that add to such stats too.

you guys that keep comparing different things should try to understand the difference between a game with specific group orientations (such as WoW) and a SINGLE-PLAYER game with online possibilities as Diablo.
WoW mas multiple aspects that are rarely able to work together. You have a tank spec that can do great in raids but rarely solo anything (from quests to a person in PvP) and you have dps specs that can easily do PvP and solo questing. WoW as known to everyone takes time and its very rare that someone has time to do both well. Its more or less one way or another, but there are possibilities of 1-2 different specs for each occasion (depending on gear and playstyle).
Now in Diablo there arent such roles. There is no healer. There is no tank. Everyone can deal good damage and everyone can finish the game without problems on their own. There have been several specs so far to allow someone to finish the game solo, but to play PvP, you were forced to go another way. Most people used (and still use) almost the same specs when they PvP in Diablo 2.
and even as different as these games are, you fail to see how close they are to each other when it comes to PvM and PvP. Only in Diablo 2 you couldnt respec.
I've never really understood why someone would even want to make a necromancer or a sorc for melee, anyways..
Well, the game should be hard and realistic enough so that your adventure as a melee wizard for example would stop at some point since the class just isn't up for the challenge without the class' strong abilities.
Though I kinda like the idea that I wont see Melee sorcs. Just for the fact if you want to play melee go play a Barb. The reason why you would see a Enchantress is because they don't want to play a Barb because you don't get the flashy skills or tele.
Why? Every build consists of that. Its fine for D2 but its would be a major flaw for D3. I'm just unsure of the fixed stat system.
No, some players tried to do that. Even of those with enough of a brain to try, most failed miserably. A truly perfect stat distribution could probably be found on only 1/50 characters on battlenet, and that separated the mediocre from the great.

Hardly. Lol.. the most popular PvP build for wow rogues is subtlety nowadays... especially since they had nerfed preparation/adrenaline rush....
Personally, I just don't worry about if other people are "exactly the same" or not. Non-conformism is just as mindless as conformism. I just play what is fun. Considering I've only played each Diablo 2 character once or twice over the past 9 years or so... the basic "cookie-cutter" build worked just find for me.
Well their kinda forcing you to play a role sorta like D&D so it seems like when you go online you wont see all sorcs or all pallys but a mixed bag. I dunno if I like that approach but I'm buying the game if there is not monthly fee attached.
