As usual the Fan-boi's missed my point......If I screwed my stats/skills I continued to play the character, I am not a whinie mommies boy that demands Do Overs........If i screw up I forge ahead and enjoy the differance and uniquiness of my character.
My main point was if we are all the same, why have stats/skills or anything for that matter. If mommy has to dress you, feed you, wipe you..........your not doing anything but just what mommy does for you. I know this concept might be beyond your ability to think on your own..........but that is why you need Do Overs and Mommy to hold your hand so you do make mistakes that will have you crying

We have stats that enhance our characters. Now we also have skills that can be used to power up those stats. Like the willpower skill that Wizard has. These skills will make us different. We have same stats but different kind of skill setups that affect our stats. Also I think gear has much more impact on the stats this time.
So we are not all the same. We have different skills, different gear, different runes for the skills, different gems in our sockets. I think we have a lot more variation than in the earlier games.

If you aren't the type of person to restart just because you fucked up then why are you complaining? Do you just want the feeling of uniqueness after you fuck up (trivial imo)? I'm sorry, but that just makes you a shitty cookiecutter.
haha i laugh at these people.. prob trolling i doubt this is a serious post but if it is then good-bye and good riddance.. im not gonna stoop to your level i didnt even bother reading what you prob took 2 hours to type out, you're pathetic for hating a game that isnt even out. all i did was glance, saw respect the franchise or something and now i say goodbye.
goodbye and don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Ah, the cry-thread. The beautiful cry-thread. What would we do without this.

If you screwed your stats/skills you just remade your character in one afternoon and rushed him to level 85. That was D2. In D3 they will probably limit it so that it will be available once a week or even scarcer. We can't really know, but still, you can't beat the free every-day respecs that EVERYONE was doing in D2 in order to perfect their cookie cutter builds. Chances are, D3 is going to be much more restrictive than D2.
And honestly, if you like keeping your flawed character because it makes you unique, just make flawed characters and be happy. No one else was living with their flaws in D2 - they just remake their chars.
I hate stupid fanboys who only cry and know nothing about the game they pretend to know about.... And when they blame WoW for all their failures in life.
to be honost i could agree more that being someone who is now 17 and started playing this game when i think i was around 9 10 i was a die hard fan and personally feel betrayed by blizzard that they didnt do d2 justice when making a new diablo, like come on it looks like some final project by some computer programmer in college or something. they changed alot and many of the things i loved. i loved the fact that you couldnt go back and change your stats because then id try to make another one and make it better.. this seems like something ill play for a week. and it kills me to say that because i really did hope blizzard would make a new diablo, this just isnt it, cartoony is an understatement, more like a boot leg WoW... ill be so happy if they take our pleas in consideration seriously. because really they have a big enough loyal fan market that if they do this right it will be the biggest hit for a while.

ill just play d2... i mean d3 looks like it could be mildly entertaining till i realize i spent 50 bucks on a game thats not remotely satisfying... i mean d2 has great replay value and is always fun... people mod which makes me laugh especially when i can synch better than most modders... just forget d3... gonna be more of a hit with wow fanboys than with d2 addicts

What an incredibly dense thing to say. I mean, what the fuck makes d2 so much better from what we have seen so far?
I'm hoping D3 will have some at least semi good replay value. D2 was great and all but... it's at the end of it's play time for me. I've done everything, played nearly every mod, made pretty much every build of character, found almost every item. It's sad but all games come to a end eventually. Hopefully D3 will be a good game to move onto for at least 2-3 years.

Agreed 0_0 - need something to get me off DotA! I used that to get off WoW 0_0
Wow. Someone speak of D2 like it's a gateway drug.. to other drugs and then the people playing the games they moved onto, need some to ween them off of the other one. lol
Heh. But I guess that sounds like a lot of games..

Yeah same here, I've gone back to D2 many times but just can't stand the rotting community and sucky 1.10+ for more than 1 month at a time.

Exactly I always get excited to reinstall it or start playing again, and about an hour into it I'm bored senseless again, so I play for as long as I can then lose interest.
I played Diablo 2 for about 4-5 years straight on Hardcore after it came out. After that I just kind of got burnt out because I literally played the game non-stop.
Since then I come back to the game for new ladder seasons as well as just randomly ever 4-6 months, then I play for 2 months or so, get burnt out again and take a break.
Overall though I would say I have spent 10 times the amount of time on Diablo 2 than I have spent on any other game though.
i know im set in my opinions and for me my basic mindset is that, in considering other games including d3, the ways in which they differ from d2 are their shortcomings.
but at the same time i'm trying to accept the differences that d3 will have.
i agree with what mahamoti and others have said about respecs, inventory management, and auto stat distribution; these changes are a big disappointment but i'm trying to keep an open mind.
i feel like removing stat selection from character customization options is only removing potential diversity, lessening the control over your character's development, and ultimately hurting the game.
yes 95% of the people in d2 can and do use similar stats.. but the possibility to use whatever item you find or create strange (perhaps better) builds is a great and valuable concept.
but as i said.. in trying to keep an open mind.. maybe it just won't work in d3 and some other valuable concept can take its place.
as for respecs.. i can see both sides but i still don't like the idea; i'm still of the "if you mess up.. at 98? tough luck. reroll." kind of mentality.
but i do concede that it depends a lot on how much of a time investment it takes to get to "end game" and how fun or tedious that time investment is.
blizzard will continue to cater to new and part-time gamers because it broadens their player base.
for inventory.. i don't like the wow style. but i'm also a big tetris fan ><
if it's big it should take up more room; adds some immersion value.
for graphics.. i've never cared that much about graphics. for me (and i think most d2 fans) in terms of importance: the graphics < the gameplay
i don't care if i'm a blobby box with a stick as long as the gameplay is exceedingly fun. it is important to me however that the game remain true to its roots in that it is accessible to people on both ends of the spectrum: those with monster systems as well as those with outdated ones. d2 was always good in that respect.
as for the atmosphere..it was looking a bit WoWish and cartooney and bright in some shots but the more recent videos have put some of my fears about the way it will look to rest. (i still fear about the music though and wish they'd get Matt Uelmen back)
i will wait and see though and hopefully come to find a new standard by which to compare all other games

everyone is always doing so much whining about D3... what does D3 owe to any of us?.. nothing, lets except the game how they want to make it, they didnt let us down in 1 or 2.. trust what they come up with i say..
