There is no way Blizzard will make it impossible to bypass an obstical simply because you do not have the correct skill or character for that scenario.
I would be happy for either the WoW skill system or the previous D2 system to be implimented into D3, Blizzard always make the skills interesting and its a fun challange to find the best build that suits your intentions over repeative playing.
What you mean? Making a few spells totally overpowered when others are just piece of crap. Also putting points to useless firebolt or icebolt isn't very nice when you aren't using them at all.

How did synergies make things overpowered? If I remember correctly when synergies were added blizzard lowered the damage on alot of the top end abilities cause they were way overpowered. Synergies gave some of this damage back but not to the point where they were before synergies. Frost orb is a good example of this. Before Synergies Frost orb was godly, after synergies were added frost orb was more on par with other spells in the game.
You probably do not like synergies because you do not realize exactly why they made the game better. By the time synergies were added to the game it was a bit late, I have to admit that myself. Synergies are more for the solo or two player games. They help to make leveling more enjoyable by actually using skills points to get skills that will help you for that level. However since synergies were added so late, any new character was easily power leveled from a higher level character which takes away from the whole point of synergies.
