I'm not sure if anyone posted this, I haven't been on this fourm in a while. But as I saw in a few videos we are able to choose character gender in Diablo 3. Now I am wondering will they have some special gender specific attack? I think it's ony fair that each gender should get its fair share of "special treatment", even if it's just one attack there should been something that would make someone choose a female over a male or vice versa other than just plain choosing a male or female.
I wouldnt wana see specific attacks per say, but rather style, seeing the girl swinging da big ax a little more eloquently or something.

Well I'm all for more options but I think the reason they gave us the ability to choose sex is so people don't HAVE to choose a characters sex depending on skills. Like in D2 if you want to be necro you have to be a male necro.
If they made a skill specific for certain sexes then it would unbalance things, there end up being favorites. Kind of like WoW with the racials.

I understand you're point, but I still think they should have pro's and con's for both genders that would make you choose one over the other, rather than simply appealing to the "looks" of the character. It wouldn't even have to be skill-wise, it could be stat-wise too! For example, the "default stats" of the Barbarian in Diablo 2 are as follows:
For each stat point put into the specific area the Barbarian gets:
1 Vitality point gives 4 Life
1 Vitality point gives 1 Stamina
1 Energy point gives 1 Mana
Now that is just the "defaut stats". What I was thinking was that depending the the gender there could be different bonuses given to life/stamina/mana per level, and different +'s given to each attribute when using stat points. Plus, the Amazon is a shining example of how a "weakened" character can be made a crowd favourite. With the introduction of the "Faith" runeword the undermined "Bowazon" was reborn, and in that same sense if specific characters of specific genders were favored due to skills, I am sure that there would be items that could make the less appealing character become a crowd favourite. Plus who doesn't like a good challenge, I mean really now, we made the Sorceress, a caster, into a meele character, sure when she was introduced her "Enchant" ability was looked at as a mere "party suppourt" ability, but over time someone toyed around with it and found it to be an effective attack that would allow the Sorceress to own. I'm just saying, the way us gamers are, we find ways to turn the shortcomings of a character into it's most lethal trait through the right combination of items and skills!
I am also starting to think on how the item system will work with this. If say you chose the female barbarian (sorry I don't know the proper term), would you only find items directed towards the gender you chose. If not, than that would make the game a bit more challenging, not only would you have to find the class-specific item but now you'd also have to hunt for the gender-specific item, that would be quite a twist!
I wouldn't change anything between sexes as they have planned.
I was thinking maybe fight animations, but even then, you might get some people playing a axe-wielding female barbarian because she has a .2 second faster 'swing animation' with axes vs the male version..... lol.
You'd be seeing lots of "axe-female barbs" and "sword-male barbs" If something like that we're to happen. Not like you don't see mirror builds right now though, but they did say they are trying work away from that kind of stuff......
Why does there have to be a difference between them? Why should either side have an advantage? The only reason it was implemented was to increase customizability, and that's finished. Why go through more trouble for something scant people are going to care about? What happens when the benefit of one gender is imbalanced to another?
I get it! His name is a differently (possibly misspelled) version of "Anakin" and he used a Star Wars style sentence to explain why he deleted my post! How clever! A+
Anyway, knotted up panties aside, I agree with "Magistrate"; there is no need to differentiate between the sexes.
The male Barbarian is going to slap the monsters with his genitals and the female is going to bitch-slap them?
just thought of it when you say "gender specific attacks"

Seriously. Joke thread deserves joke replies.
The animations will probably differ, but I don't think they're going to have gender-specific attacks.
Thanks!
