This is fairly old news but some might not know it, so I'm going to post it here.
AMD has decided to bundle some of the upcoming Blizzard Games with some of their ATI Radeon graphics cards, and I think we can expect at least 2 of the 3 upcoming titles to be bundled with a suitable graphics card.
So if you where planing to upgrade your graphics card to be able to play Diablo III you might just want to wait a bit and buy the bundle instead, because at least that way you'll be shure you have a cappable card.
AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced that it has entered into an agreement with Blizzard Entertainment® that will allow AMD to bundle Blizzard’s best games across all ATI Radeon™ graphics products, to deliver a superior gaming experience.
The cards in the bundle will probably run the game at decent settings, but not full. The only reason I would purchase it is because of the discount with the game.

Since its a blizzard we're talking about, and they aren't graphics obsessed like some other companies, I think that any card bundled with the game, as long as its fairly, new will run it at its best.
And Blizzard are perfectionists, I doubt they'll bundle their games with mediocre cards.
It will be bad for both companies if they do, so I doubt that's what they'll do.
alright i was told before that the first number 9 is the edition of that series.. and that the 3 numbers after that are the quality of the card... as in... 100-300 low quality.. 400-600 medium quality....700-900 high quality...
and showing something like 4780 or 4750 is just saying its a series in a series and 80 is better than 50..... and krow is talking about the new HD Radeon graphics card 4780 with 512mb of DDR5 ram.....i believe...
srry if that explanation is a little crappy, and please if people can correct me if im wrong...
yea but that kinda takes all the fun out of it when your playing a game and it lags.... i mean i want to experience diablo 3 to the fullest... and all the other games...
luckily with my mediocre job (as only a highschool student should have)...i saved up enough money to buy a completely new rig as in my other thread explains.....
Well, the 4870 will probably run Diablo III at even high resolutions, but I have my doubts with the 4850.
Dude, Blizzard will want to make the game accessible to every one who wants to play and thus will probably support computers a couple of years old. A 4870 and a 4850 will both undoubtedly max out D3 at high settings. I think you are making people worry that their computers won't be able to run it. This is Diablo not Crysis.
Personally I'd say the 4XXX will be overkill for Diablo 3. I got a 3870 DDR4 and suspect it at max settings to handle the max Diablo 3 will offer with no problems. Again, like everyone says Blizzard knows the broad range they must reach.
I'd even say my 128mb 9800 Pro in my old comp by my closet *pats old friend* will handle Diablo 3 fine. Like everyone says, let's just keep waiting folks...we have time anyways.

The game could be years away, and I'm aiming a bit high here so no one yells at me. P.S. I mean high resolutions like 2560x1600. Resolutions put lots of stress on a gcard. I run CS 1.6 on a X1300 (a card from 2004, the game's from 1998). I run it at 1280x1024 with 30 FPS, and 640x480 at like 3 digit FPS.
Oddly it runs the same as HL2 for me.

You must doing something wrong.I can play cs 1.6 @1280*1024 with 100 FPS.I've amd 3000+(one core), 1gb ram, geforce 6800gt.
You should choose opengl instead of Direct3D.OpenGL choice is the best for hl1 and it's mods.

lol I doubt that the minimum requirement for Diablo III will be less than 256 MB and 512 MB might not be too far off.
the reason I say that is, well we don't know when the game will come out, could be in 2 years, could be in 1, but by the time it comes out I'm sure that the graphics will be improved.
Also 5 players in one game all spamming spells with over the top effects will need some good graphics support.

can you be more specific?
mean? Mine is a RADEON 9200 PRO or something, and I have no idea if that's good or bad.

ATI/AMD now does this:
For example...
4870
4 stands for generation.
8 stands for series.
70 stands for model.
so the 4850 is weaker.
The 3870 is from a previous generation,
before that were the 2xxx cards which used abbreviations like XT.
And before that were the X1xxx cards. I have a X1300.
Then comes the group of cards you have Magistrate.
It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
i have X1050
which really sucks

Runs most things perfectly fine
I think I'm getting 4870 to upgrade my year old 8800gts 320mb now.. not sure yet, might wait to d3 release and see what we have then.

Im about as clueless as you are when it comes to these well overpriced cards. I leave it to the computer junkies to help me
