Yea, like tyraels sacred armor (I've never actually seen that item in game). There should definitely be more of those.
In single player it should be easier to find good items though, I remember it took me several months to find full sigons on single player. I thought I was so bad ass at the time (before I had internet)
Yeah single player items should be a lot easier. You really can't even experience half of what you want to on single player because it would take YEARS. So a lot of people result to item editors etc etc, makes things boring.
I don't mind it taking a while for me to get a set like Sigons, but it took forever to get a full set, and by the time I had it, I didn't even really need it.
I heard a windforce sold for a couple grand at one point because it was so rare. Dont know if it was true, but im sure someone here would.
nah my friend used to have bots on diff comps running all day and the windforce only sold for about $150... back in like 08 and 09 he sold alot of shit and actually used it to pay for some of his college lol.
I like collecting runes and gems and putting them into items. And wouldn't mind seeing it again.
I hated how 1.11 rune words were so insanely powerful that all other items were shit compared to them. A single item could be more powerful than an entire set of 6 or 7 items, even one that added +5 to all skills when you pieced it all together. That is just stupid. No single item should be more powerful than 6 items combined.
Agreed. I like the idea of runewords, just not them being crazy overpowered like in D2.

but u know if runewords come to d3 in some later patch its gonna turn into d2 over again... which i have no problem with... and sets i dont think sets should be good at all... like they should be for lower lvls such as sigs cathans etc... if ur like lvl 84 using sets you should suck...
Don't shoot me, because I know the terminology comes from WoW, but wouldn't it be cool to find Legendary items?
Like so rare you only hear of one being found every 3 months? I'd love that.
I think there should be like 5 legendary items per server, and whoever finds it has it disappear after like 1 week. After the week it gets thrown back into the system for someone else to find. Also if you die using it, then it is lootable. This would make it so the people using legendary items in PvP could have the upper hand, but are risking their item.

Just an idea, I'm sure there are some issues.
that whole statement is an issue... if i find a legendary item im either gonna find someone to pay out the ass to get it or i want it so i can uber leet... none of th is one week bullshit...its systems like that that bring duping programs about.

If someone wants to pay out the ass to use it for a limited time, that is their issue...and I'm not sure how this would cause more duping. I was never a duper myself...but didnt duped shit disappear unless it was 'permed'. And I was under the impression the only way to perm something was socket it into an item, meaning only duped runes were every really permanent. Anyways duping is a whole different issue that has no bearing on this, if Blizzard doesn't fix the bug, people will dupe, legendary items or not.
I almost solely like to play single player, so if they made unique items really rare it would take forever to find good drops. This is because there is no trading involved, and rarity matters less on single player also because many people are concerned about having unique equips compared to other people, or that everyone will have the same gear if drops are not rare enough. In single player it is just you, it doesn't matter if someone else may have the same equips, or if many people have the same equips. So if blizzard made better items rarer it should only apply to multiplayer because you can trade, but personally for me in D2 it was really hard to get the rare advanced drops including set items and unique, so in my opinion making drops even rarer would be horrible.
I think duping or some other form of cheating may have influenced the rarity of items online, but since I do not really play on Bnet I am not sure.

Blame duping for the flood of high end uniques... sojs way back in classic anyone?? If it wasnt for duping you would find it would be alot harder to play the game.

ive only found a soj once or twice, but that was in like 1.07/8 (was there a .07?)
Lol i think there was a .07 i mean there was a .01 i mean i dont think they would just skip to 7 and go to 8 lol back when I was 7 i never looked at the version nor understood wtf it was

It doesn't matter how rare uniques are, if uniques = BEST then the elite players will still have the exact same items.
Imo random affix items (rare/crafted) should have the greatest potential for being the best, at least for the most part. With balancing all weapon types as well, this should stop cookie cutter item sets.
Also there should be more uniques and sets, and no overpowered ones that shine above the rest (Storm Shield / Windforce / Stone of Jordan...). And don't even get me started on the imba rune words like grief and enigma.
Are you kidding me? We HAVE to have those few uniques that overpower the rest. Remember how awesome it was to finally get that Grandfather after trading your way to the top, or finally getting that Windforce? These were the items that allowed people to hack and slash their way through Hell. We can't get rid of them.
Also, I hope some of the old uniques from D2 carry to D3 (Most of them were in the original Diablo as well) Such as the Grandfather, Harlequin Crest, Arkaine's Valor, Windforce, Eaglehorn, etc. It will prove Blizzard is at least somewhat trying to stick to the original formula.
P.S. I found a Windforce doing a hell chaos run a few weeks ago, I was overjoyed. When I told people about it, they said "meh, nigma is better" or something along those lines. This really disappointed me. I'm glad the runewords are gone.

Hey, well i went over the post again ... lots of people repeated the same things but thats ok..
First lets assume they fix the duping problem..you cant make a game saying, they'll dupe it so lets leave it out and make it a worse game..
I made this post thinking that like others said, unique items should be unique...ok, maybe its because of duping..and yes true....it is harder to find items. My idea is, not to make the unique items the standards....rare items should be good enough to play the game.
Unique is just extremely hard to find and give you a lil advantage...for lucky enough to find it.
One idea i liked is that some items maybe they can remake ethernal into this....When you die with that item...its gone...permenantly..

"Not Even Death Can Save You From Me" ~ Diablo (II)
There should be no "ultimate weapons". Or if there are, like Deamaro said, they should be so ridiculously rare that it's borderline impossible to acquire more than one, if any at all.
I propose this: It'd work best to have several different items that can be crafted to be made as strong as the uniques, and sets that are just as powerful as any combo of crafted/uniques items can be. That way there are many ways to make a character as powerful as it can get, regardless of type or even build, depending on which items you find suit you best personally instead of being demanded by item restictions. That'd add a refreshing hint of variety to gameplay, indeed.
And those SUPREME ZOMG items should also be obtained based on not just blind luck, but have the chance of finding it increase based on achievements like playtime, bosses killed, dueling skills, an honor system, and other things that would make you noticed as a player. That way you earn it in more ways than one.
the problem wasn't how common uniques dropped it was out of control duping and botting. a lot of the really good uniques were actually quite ridiculously rare
