Game Selection
-------------------------------
1) At the moment in D2, when making a game you can select a level range, password, and amount of players allowed into the game. My idea would be adding more selections to this list. Some that come to mind are making games not allow other players to hostile. This can prevent some griefing and if anyone wants to make a game where they want to pvp they can choose to do so.
2) Have a vote-kick system that would allow players in a game to kick someone. Give it like a 2 min timer after someone has been kicked to leave the game, to keep people from kicking someone right before a boss dies to get all the loot. This idea would allow players who are grinding/questing to kick people who are idle, afk, botting, or some level 1 character that just joined your cow game lol.
Gameplay
---------------------------------
1) Mercs- If there are mercs in the game, have some ability to change how they look or have items change their look, change their names and maybe even pick and choose skills or talents. Customization is always fun and brings another aspect to the game.
2) Modding- Make the game easy to mod. Even though this may sound odd, its always been fun to play around with modding D2 and when the original got old, a large community of players found it fun to mod the game and it keeps the game fresh and enjoyable for even the most seasoned players.
3) Items-
A) Put a system in place to where a person can transfer an item from one character to another on the same account or by ingame mail. **Added 8-24-08**
Give every account a bank of some sorts. Some may say this would add more server load but many people made several accounts anyway just for bank characters. **Added 8-24-08**
**All I have for now I would like to come back and add more at a later time feel free to post what you think**
I agree with the suggestion about the hostility of the Diablo 2 community. Its annoying to join a game and everyone hostiles you so that they can duel you. The option should be open to create a PVP game exclusively for dueling.
Agree to Hostile (Duel) works pretty well. I haven't been killed once in WOW without actually wanting to fight thanks to "Agree to Duel" and that is on a PvP server.
D3 borrows several elements from WOW, I do not see why this couldn't be one of them.
Disallowing Hostile seems a bit much, what if I am in a game playing it through for the story and MFing, then me and a friend want to have a friendly fight, we would have to make a new game as we disabled Hostling, unless you can change the settings in game later if you wanted, but I doubt you would be able to.

Are you over level 20 yet? Once you get into higher level areas it gets horrible especially Stranglethorn Vale.
Anyway I like the agree to hostile or the select hostile on game creation, either works pretty well.

why would you get rid of hostile games? diablo isnt supposed to be nice, guys. the game is ment for only the strong to survive
Oh so once you die you never come back?... Oh wait... that's only in hardcore.
Besides how much "strength" does it take in the situations where you are killed by someone 20+ levels higher?

Had a level 26 character in the Barrens, and was running around in Stone Talon Mountains, Thousand Needles, Ashenvale and didn't get attacked.

Everytime I died in Stranglethorn it was because I wanted to fight the level ?? alliance coming at me. Then I wanted them to corpse camp me too, I got lucky on that a few times.
i sorry i dont want the game to cater to winey bitches
That's funny considering you're the one whining about how they're making the game now that they want to limit PKing.
Besides it's not like I had any effect on their decision or not. I never even posted about Diablo PvP until they already announced they didn't want griefing in the game.
It's not like I sat down and wrote them a letter and they actually listened to my idea. I could personally care less if they do the PvP like it was in D2 or how they're wanting to do it in D3. I just think each side has equal rights to play how they want and all I've seen from the PKing side so far mostly boils down to "SUCK IT UP NOOBS!1 LULZ!". Customers are customers, they all have equal rights.
I like much of the feedback im getting so keep it coming. I just added some ideas that have to do with items and such. They have been asked for, from players for many years. I hope to see them in D3.
I liked people being able to hostile you. It did become aggravating sometimes, but I love the feeling of a surprise duel in hardcore, or someone trying to kill you on a baal run. It's a great feeling when you kill the attacker and Baal at the same time.

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.

On a PvP server you automatically flag PvP when you enter into a contested territory once you have reached a certain level. As far as accepting a duel that would simply be you clicked the wrong button or were intent on dueling that person.

Level doesn't matter. If you are in contested territory any player of the opposing faction can and most likely will attack you. If you are in enemy territory you are vulnerable to attack but cannot attack them unless they are flagged by either attacking you, just coming from contested territory, or have their PVP flag turned on at all times. Dueling only works with someone of the same faction.

Then I am a bit outdated in my information. The way the PvP servers used to work is that you did not automatically flag until you were above level 9. No matter where you were. Also you were able to click "duel" on opposing factions drop down menu from their character icon.

From there on the game get's progressively more PvP inclined.
If you're on a older server, most of the players are probably in outland or the higher level areas at least.
See thats the beauty though, this new way, if you want to PvP YOU can play PvP games.
It's a bitch when the shoes on the other foot huh?
