If you could have your own personal ship at a docking area that would be very tight, even maybe a house of some type also. As for people saying that would be too much like an MMO, why the hell would you not want to be able to own your own house or boat in diablo 3 if they had that implemented?
It's like saying, we dont want more f^cking content so get lost!
Huh what? You dont want more content that kicks ass so your complaining about it? Don't really get that one lol. I'll take as much badass stuff as I can get, Including ships, npc or player controlled, and houses too. Cuz its just awesome.
not gonna happen. Blizzard couldnt even get guild halls or player housing in wow (although guild wars managed to get guild halls, and ffxi managed to make player housing over 2 years before); not gonna happen in d2.

probly not, but that would still kick ass

If you get personally attacked by letters through the internet its a good thing to always have a box of tissues and a band-aid around.
I don't see what's wrong with swimming across the top of the water. Don't need to under, but across the top doesn't seem to much out of the question. I guess fighting in the water would be dumb, but maybe you'd just not have to fight or something, I dunno.
But that's just a minor opinion, so I won't be offended by disagreement.
Shallow water that you could walk in would be nice, like streams. On the idea of ships, I think a shipyard dungeon or like a shipwreck dungeon would be interesting, but I don't think the ship combat when you are sailing to another part of sanctuary would work.
Longboats, Cogs, Galleys, Canoes, I have nothing against boats, I would have loved to have been on the boat from Act 2 to act 3 (and back again) and have gotten attacked by sea monsters.
I would have also liked to have been in the caravan from act 1 to act 2 (and back again) and have gotten attacked by bandits.
Even Baldur's Gate II had a fight on the deck of a ship, you couldn't go below deck or anything (which I figure would work like going down cave or tower levels), but a fight on a ship none the less.
I do not think swimming will work in a isometric game like Diablo as I do not recall many times when your character is not standing up. The only time I can think of is when they are dead. They could probably make some animations of your character getting knocked on their back when they get it with Knockback or something, but generally speaking your character is either standing, walking, running or dead. I think it should stay that way.
It's hard for me to agree on everything a person has said in a certain post, but I do agree fully to yours. Anyway, the Amazon's Dodge maneuvers enabled her to lean back quite a bit, so maybe that's what you're thinking of, besides the character being dead, we'd see the Amazon go backwards quite a bit.
I just hate the entire water idea, in ANY game. Red Alert, Heroes. Gay gay gay. Single slot system in the inventory is ludicrous, btw.
Heroes has always had boats... and it's been an important part of the game. I'm not sure how you can discount it.
I admit I'm not a fan of boats in that game... as it's too easy to steal a town if the map is poorly made (no coast cover from trees/mountains) but it is well implemented and and integral part of the game.

"If we're actually making the game worse with no other reason than to be different from WoW, then it's a bad choice." - Jay Wilson (D3 lead designer)
i always liked the grid system more because it made the smart looter consider if the larger items were worth carrying vs a greater magnitude of the smaller ones. It made the inventory system more dynamic.
yep, so anyone who was seriously bothered by the tetris system... really shouldnt find it a big deal
really was an unnecessary change.
It saves the time of juggling inventory and TPing back and forth to town, getting itmes identified, going back to your portal, buying more scrolls if they aren't dropping, and all that messy time consuming stuff that really isn't fun, and allows you to spend more time killing infinite number of demons, which is what this game is about. They make some pretty cool Tetris games these days if that's what you're into.

meh, debatable. I didnt go through all this trouble your talking about. In fact, most players didnt, most players carried ID scrolls with them. You're point is pretty... negligible. Toss in the expanded bag system, and its even less an issue. The change is unneeded.

The change may not really be needed, but its not a bad change either. Maybe Blizzard will tell us all why they made the change and we can lay this one to rest.

boats: only if I get to fight on them (I so long to relive Norrec's fallout with the squid-like demon)

No time to sip coffee when the very safety of Sanctuary is at stake!
But that's just a minor opinion, so I won't be offended by disagreement.
Over confidence is the rot.
btw, I didn't read anything but this page...

Swimming = Wow?
So is Michael Phelps gonna be the final boss of the new Expansion instead of the Lich King?
