Yea... I mean you're really not going to convince a person who thinks PKing is fun otherwise. It's FUN for them just like killing monsters is FUN for you. These elements are always going to clash and that's what makes it FUN for everyone who plays.
No that's what makes it fun for PKs and kills people trying to play just cooperatively.
I can't tell if that's sarcasm or not, but I agree it is a solid argument. Killing newbs really is fun. If only there was a "Secret Newb Level" filled with newbs...
Exactly.
Killing noobs is fun because PKs can't handle a decent challenge. They love to prey on the weak and defenseless. If it's a equal duel I can appreciate that and have fun in the challenge but PKing isn't about being equal it's about attacking a lower level or a unprepared opponent.

"I won't meet anyone."
I call bullshit. There are PLENTY of people your level who can see and join your game. You're more likely to hit it off with people who at your level doing the same quests.
If I am a higher level player why would I want to randomly join a lower level game anyways?
I've met many friends through higher levels wanting to do runs etc etc. Then we play together on same level characters later.
I don't think I've actually killed any newbs before, mostly because D2 made that pretty much impossible, and D1 had too many cheaters....but I always dream for it, design my gear around it, and hope that it will be possible within the structure of the game someday :/
No that's what makes it fun for PKs and kills people trying to play just cooperatively.
That's why there are features in place that can cut down AND eliminate these unwanted elements. Such as level restrictions and password protected games.
It's not hard to understand. Blizzard has to cater to both sides. They are not here to baby sit you.

That's funny considering PKing seems to be off the schedule for D3.
Yeah I'll make a password protected game! Great way to meet people!
5) Diablo has always incorporated a bit of loss. This adds spice and makes the game feel more alive. A little more exciting. Remember drop-trading...great adrenaline rush there, sometimes. Even in D2, I got ripped off a few time by clever traders who managed to swap a ring at the last moment...or something like that. Or the very clever person who manages to spy on you exhcanging gear between chars. The fear that your session might close out and delete your gear...when you couldnt log back in fast enough. Blizzard obviously views this sort of thing as a problem that needs to be solved. Thats why they made all those safeties in the trading window. And Ive read that they will make it easy to transfer items between characters in D3, and also that drops are now individual for each monster. They also changed it so that you cant steel loot from PK-ing.
This is about the dumbest paragraph I've ever read. So I'm muling some gear and all of a sudden the server crashes. I feel so dangerous now. This game is so dangerous. I'm so emerced in the game by the sense of danger of this server crash. /sarcasm
And scamming is not a good thing. Scammers should be warned/banned like in WoW. And I'm not saying this because I'm QQing about being scammed (I've been scammed only once in the 5 year I've played D2, and I got over it immediately).
That's funny considering PKing seems to be off the schedule for D3.

you really have trouble meeting people huh? out all your posts i've read that seems to be your constant worry and fear. that some how all these big bad pks out there are preventing you from meeting friends

Yeah usually people play online to meet people, not to prey on lower levels. I know this might be a abstract concept to you.
whats an abstract concept to me is why you're so against something that's really not even a huge problem to begin with and completely avoidable.
Because it's not avoidable without restricting gameplay.
I'm not really 100% against it because it's not always a huge problem sometimes it's not. I was just saying to the opening post no one likes to be PK'd, people like the potential of PKing. No matter what me or you want Blizzard is going to do what they're going to do.
I've PKd before, I'm just not going to try to sugar coat it and say people enjoy it. No one I ever killed has messaged be back and said "WOW! That was exciting. Thanks." It is what it is. Preying on the weak.
Whatever you do, just dont BIND items to players. Its bad enough that there were class-bound items in D2. Now all items will be class-bound in D3. This is quite a shame because it reduces the creativity that players can have in designing their arsenals. Yes, it does. Because you can only design a finite number of unique items, and if you divide that among P classes, that means there are only 1/P as many items per class as there could be WITHOUT class binding...and lets say you get to wear 5 items, the difference between (N choose 5) and (N/P choose 5) is pretty big. If you bind items to players, that just ruins the trade economy...nobody wnats to wear the items they find, or they arent happy with them because they cant switch to different char...just dont to it. It was a terrible design choice by the games that did it. Diablo has always been about trading dont ruin that.
Absolutely your best point. /agree. I don't agree with the old drop system at all though, drop hack was way, way too prevalent for that.

fair enough. but if your sole concern is to prevent a high level PKer from entering your game, a level restriction has no effect on actual game play once you've made the game. which is really what it boils down to. there's no way to effectively police it otherwise.
as far as socializing and meeting new people goes, we are not talking about the sims here.

That isn't true Dae. In my 7-odd years of playing D2, I never pked a defenseless noob or significantly lower level player for no reason. I liked the pvp system because if someone was being a pompous jackass or annoying whore I could cram my foot up their ass until they left the damn game. Sure it opens the door for jerks to ruin people's games, but it was great fun fending them off/owning them with other characters. If someone pked you and you quit the game, crying about the system instead of getting them back, shame on ya.

You wouldn't be equally pleased with being able to ban/kick them from the game?
This may not be the sims but the whole initial point behind online play is cooperation and meeting people.
Creator should definitely have banning powers, but if I'm not the admin I don't want to be powerless against some puffed up 12 year old unless he checks the "allow pk" button sponsored by hello kitty.

I'm happily running along the Bloody Foothills with my sorc using a spirit sword and some crappy shield, when all of a sudden comes a decked out PKer with mass FRW, damage etc, and bam I get deeds. Yeah. REAL fun, all my items are gone, all the effort I put into getting a character that far...
So you kept it bottled up inside like some goth, instead of doing something about it back then, and you remember it so well that you're posting it on a D3 forum. I don't throw the word carebear around much, but....
btw, aren't people like you the ones calling people like me goths? gotta love it

banning and kicking would be abused more than player killing.
you could kick people right before a boss dies taking loot.
Except when you kick them they'd leave party and the loot would go back down. Kicking AFTER the loot had dropped might get abused but I'm sure they could find a way to fix that.

The non-consensual loss of items / time played is reason enough for PKing to be disabled in D3.
This is kind of how I feel.
I've been on both sides of PKing and sure it's fun sometimes but I also realize it's not fair and it's not healthy that I'm getting enjoyment out of causing someone else agony. I'm not enjoying just the fight, if that was the case I'd just PvP.
