I don't entirely agree with what was said there. Certain genre's need certain aspects put into it. Ever play an RPG without a story? Yea it would suck, because the story gives you motivation to finish the game. A game with no ending or climax is like playing a Mario game where the princess is ALWAYS in another castle. If you have no motivation to play the game it doesn't matter how good the gameplay actually is because you feel the game is going nowhere anyways.
I think story is a very important part in todays game. Sure it was unnecessary back in the day when you had games like asteroids, pac-man, and dig-dug. Even the original Mario game has a story no matter how primitive it was.
I myself can't play a game that has a good story. Sure an FPS doesn't really need a story since most of the time the story will get in the way, same goes for sports and racing games as well, I am just saying that not all aspects apply to all games. Would you want an RPG that had no story or no character development? I wouldn't.
I find it slightly ironic how he jabs at the people who review games when he is in fact critiquing the critiquers*.....
see intro here
Probably a reference to the d3 petition.
Oh yeah... and it is the truth of modern gaming. Amazing. The full episode is at purepwnage.com .... one of the best for a while now.

"Cards and flowers on your window, your friends all plead for you to stay,
sometimes beginnings aren't so simple, sometimes goodbye's the only way."
