I think we need to make an official thread about this, its been stated about over 5 times I believe.
I didn't see it anywhere. At least not in a thread where it can be discussed and not covered with "cool new updates".
Anyways for a positive remark. My guess is Imperius, the one from the Angiris Council who believes the Sanctuary should be destroyed.
Yeah I figure it's Imperius also (I started the Imperius thread) but who knows. I don't want to shove speculation down someones throat like it's fact. I just wanted to point out it looks like the same angel.
Notice the winged armor and the wings that are different from Tyrael's which are much more tendril like.
He also looks pretty heavily armored.
The new concept art looks like he's stepping out of a portal.
Very interesting, what do you all think?
I'm working on an update for a Diablo article for d3armory.com, I'll answer this question in it, (a minor part, the full thing is 23 pages long) but my advice is to try a process of elimination, it has to be Imperius, there's no one else it could be, unless it's someone totally new. I would do it for you , but I'm horribly busy on the article update

That's the same conclusion I've come to. It's either Imperius or someone completely new or that was never described.
It seems very Imperius like because he's heavily armored (he's the angel of war presumably) but I don't want to turn this into a Imperius thread, just a general discussion about the angel.

In reply to the words in the parantheses: Yeah I know, you borrowed a quote from my old thread "Prophecies of the Final Day - REVEALED"
Those look to be the same angels and I too think it is Imperius, Process of elimination has brought me to believe this or another new angel that has never been introduced. Just makes sense they would use Imperious over some random new angel imo.
TJust makes sense they would use Imperious over some random new angel imo.
It does make sense. One thing I found interesting though was according to Richard A. Knaak who described Imperius the sword or cross shape on that angels chest should be facing the other direction. Blizzard may have changed this though as a cross has more of a impact on people than a sword.
Yeah i noticed that too talked about it in a thread before not sure which one, I personally hope they keep it how Imperious was described in the novel.

No, the kept it, allow me:
He described it as an upturned sword.
upturned

2 : to direct upward
From merriam-webster.
A sword is reguarly considered to have the blade up so by the first defenition it would be just like in the artwork, blade down.
The second defentition would be like you meant, though I think they mean the first defenition.
Interesting.... I'm still not confidant though, it just seems too weird to me. I don't understand you apples.
apples meant the two pictures are the same angel.
It's possible that Blizzard just changed it around.
I think it'd look silly the opposite direction and people would most likely take it as a upside down cross which you certainly don't want on the chest of your heavenly beings.
So if it IS Imperius I think it's a good move that they made it with the handle upwards.

Appear to be the same angel as this one:

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, Don't bring it up again!
That's just wishful thinking though.
And The Heavens Shall Tremble...

Imperius is a member of the Angiris Council (presumably the angel of war) who hates Sanctuary because it's the spawn of demons and angels.
The council had a vote and Imperius was the only one who wanted Sanctuary destroyed.
