The way you came off is as if those dumb fans are not good at being fans of Diablo because of their lack of ability to as you put it "suspend disbelief". I'm not putting words in your mouth, I'm telling you how it comes off. It's like analyzing a literary work. You can get soo many things from it that might not actually be there by the intent of the author.
I already told you that you misinterpreted my post, and clarified it for you, and here you are still repeating your misinterpretation. I don't know how to make it any more clear.
I told you to stop putting words in my mouth and here you are, arguing that I implied something and then going off about analyzing literature - as if that even applies here. If I say "I didn't say that. here's what I meant" and then you continue in your next post to say "You did say that" then you are putting words in my mouth. There's no argument to be made. It is what it is. You are saying I implied/said something that I didn't. End of story.
Read above. You even say now that I am saying that people are "dumb fans and not good at being fans of Diablo". That is putting words into my mouth. There is no arguing this.
I said, if one chooses to not suspend their disbelief they are going to have ridiculous complaints and fail to appreciate the fantasy that has been created. So if Blizzard succeeds in making a perfectly good fantasy game and someone is complaining about things like the size of shoulder pads and ambient lighting then they are obviously not submitting fully to the fantasy and they are keeping themselves from appreciating it for what it is. It makes their arguments for change seem unwarranted and picky when we look at the situation this way.
But you didn't get that. I have clarified it over and over now. I suppose I hope that you can figure it out this time but I won't count on it. So now what do you think of my point?
I THINK WE SHOULD ALL PLAY ON THE DISCO BALL LEVEL!
HELL, ANY OF THEM WORK, LIKE THEY SAID, IT'S PROLLY MAGIC OR SOME CRAP, IT REALLY ADDS TO THE ATMOSPHERE, JUST MAKES ME FEEL LIKE I'M IN A HUGE DUNGEON WORTH EXPLORING RATHER THAN ON A ONE WAY TRACK TO FINISH THE LEVEL ASAP. AND THE LIGHTING WILL MORE THAN LIKELY CHANGE AS YOU PLAY THE GAME, SO IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT COLOR IT IS ANYWAY. IT'S JUST A FREAKIN COLOR, IT ISN'T EVEN THAT HORRIBLE TO LOOK AT. LOOKS NIIICE.
IN CONCLUSION; WOWWEE WHY WITH THE 40 PAGE ARGUING.
AND ALSO; CRUISE CONTROL.
He didn't actually say what was wrong with the last picture (Necromancer's Choice). It looks pretty darn good to me. It has colors, strong silhouettes, and isn't too dark. It keeps the green glow, but turns it down to a subtle level, and the fog is actually gray – making it look more foreboding. His comment on all of the screens looking the same. . . they are the same area, aren't they?
I'm all for using color to create a mood, but neon green, purple & blue isn't scary. It's disco. Wait, it's scary.

D3 Pros: Outdoors environment, night time environment, female Barbarian, rune spell system, the Wizard class
D3 Cons: Fantasy architecture, fantasy armor, fanstasy weapons, no shaders.
The building is a church right? So what if there are green stained glass skylights? Or moss covered skylights?I'm sure there will be all kinds of lighting in D3, that just gives variety and thus replayability to the game. You have to look at the big picture before making your arguments people, SHEESH!
I didnt notice the changes when i first saw the gameplay trailer, but when looking at the pictures with the photoshopped i clearly saw the difference and liked the older darker one better, but after watching the gameplay trailer again its not much of a big deal.
Ill be honest, I signed the petition, and Blizzard has responded. My choices now are to buy or not to buy D3.
I do not have the technical knowledge to argue against Mr. Wilson, though it somehow didnt sound very convincing.
At any rate, its hard to argue with the fact that the dungeon we saw in the trailer had a very "undercityish" feel to it. I hardly think anyone can deny this.
In fact, I wish the interviewer had simply stated "this looks like UC" and waited for a responce:rolleyes:

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
never mind threads mergerd. Though my opinions still change daily, im still happy with graphics, but can still see why people would like them to be darker and more gothic, and even sometimes i agree with them on certain points. but preety much htis debate is useless, blizzard is the one the chooses, and they've already made comments .

It does look like Undercity kind of.... so?
They own WoW, they own Diablo, they want more fans so of course they're going to make things seem familiar. This will lead to larger sales in the long run.
Actually... I don't think it looks like Undercity all that much.
Undercity is a lot brighter and it has more of a purplish blue. The textures and graphics are worse and Undercity doesn't have the sourceless green lighting.
That's zoomed out and it STILL doesn't look near as good as D3.

Exactly. Like I've said before, Blizzard has a way of doing 3-d, but Diablo utilizes it best BY FAR in my opinion, and likely most others. And I don't have a huge deal with the lighting, it's kinda nice to see around and feel like you're in a huge area worth exploring, but yea they could probably get the same effect without the weird unnatural green tinge.
Perhaps later gameplay will reveal a differing color scheme. I bet it will.
I don't know if anyone has really thought about this... but the people that have a real problem with Diablo 3. Why don't you just turn down the brightness on your monitor and make it a little more black and white? Seriously :-/ the results will be pretty close to those Photoshops with a little adjustment.
No they wont, comments like those just show how clueless you are about it, no offense
Even Wilson himself said its hard to achieve that kind of lightning (well, at least for them, because Ive seen it in alot of other games), so I can respect that, however Im forced to post here again because most people miss the point
At the moment Im playing this free mmorpg called "Perfect World"... Its an asian game, with its main feature being character costumization etc, but anyhow, its widely acclaimed as having some awesome graphics for the genre, and I agree, I loooove the art style, and its very "happy go luckly" (though it can be very dark in some places), obviously anime oriented
And here, this coming from the guy that did the bridge rain photoshop! Dont you get it? Its not that I dont like colorful stuff, its that colorful stuff doesnt fit the world of Diablo!
Now OBVIOUSLY, unless the game becomes a flop which unheard of with Blizzard, it will have amazing gameplay and thus I will still buy it and play it to death, its just a shame that it will never be nearly as immersive as Diablo 1 was... As no other game as been until now
Hmmmm, I wonder how afraid of change they are... to the point where any step outside the same ol' is a eminent threat to their precious dark, colorless, outdated world. Which is kinda odd, considering D2 was full of color, and changed quite alot from D1. It had color all over the place, although every act (cept act2) always had this dark gloomy cloudy feel because of the dark influence on the land. But that dark force is gone from most of the land now. Ever gone outside? Yea, it's pretty much the same concept, but there are demons and undead all over the place.
And I doubt it'll be as dark as d2 or 1, because they won't be implementing the light radius (which I respect because of how the game looks), but It will get darker and less "colorful" once you go a little bit deeper in the game, to the places where it actually makes sense to be that dark and brooding. I think I'd get pretty bored if the first part of the game and easiest areas looked about the same as the last parts.
This change isn't bad, not at all. It isn't nearly as "horrible" as most complainers claim it is. But you have to be willing to accept the change, and enjoy the end product that they worked so hard for to complete, and trust that they know what they're doing. Like the last paragraph you have says, It's most likely going to be kickass anyway.
And I'm not just trying to single out Frosty here, this goes for all the people who are RAAAAAAGING over it with extreme prejudice. Because I myself don't agree with the awkard green ambeince and LARGE armors.

you are trying to be funny right? he never said that diablo = rain, ever.
Yes, he did. He made the screenshot with extra RAIN in it. That's a statement that adding rain makes the game more Diabloesque. He also said that a game is more immersive if it is dark. So I suppose he feels like rain helps a game become more immersive,...which is funny. I guess I'm not trying to be funny. It is just funny how people think sometimes once you lay out what they are really saying for all to see.

i tried to say that he didnt want to be rain everywhere in the game, he just felt like doing a rainy scene, but his main and onl goal is to make it dark

At that part of the games story does it really require more rain? Does more rain make a game more immersive?
