When I sat down with lead “Diablo III” designer Jay Wilson last week to talk about the team’s design choices and his thoughts on fan-altered screenshots, he told me that Morrisroe was the one who spearheaded the franchise’s design changes. Specifically, I asked who we should blame for the rainbows. Wilson said: “If you want to blame anyone for the rainbows, you’d blame our art director Brian [Morrisroe]. Because Brian is more the person who drove the art style into where it is. But it didn’t really come directly from him. What he brought to the art team was concepts and ideas — the idea of contrast, the idea of using color more, the idea of going for a more stylized look. Because what we were looking at before was more photo-realistic. Really trying to get something that looks like a painting — that was his goal. But the actual result of that came from the art team. And a lot of the environment guys, and some of the texture artists, they’ve all kind of chipped in to try and get the feel of something that was very unique.”
Interesting.
Maybe wilson and his WoW team really are not the ones screwing over diablo 3. Either that or hes trying to cutt some of the edge off himself. Either way, with all the Diablo 3 jobs open for grabs now, something is happening in blizz. Hopefully something GOOD. (aka a change) lol.

"Either that or hes trying to cutt some of the edge off himself."
With all the crappy excuses hes given, thats my guess mostly.
Maybe, Wilson saying this art director that retired//quit spear headed the diablo 3 into the current state that its in, is pretty harsh, considering he DID just retire//quit. Maybe they FIRED him because of this. Like i've said already until something official comes out on him anything is up in the air. But lets keep the insults down to a minimal for wislon, hes been getting a lot of hate lately (your damn right from me) but now i'm not so sure its all completely his fault. (which i thought it was).

I must implore you to reconsider this remark, for I feel the undeniable need to disagree henceforth.
"Here’s what a Blizzard representative told Multiplayer via e-mail:
Regarding Brian, he recently resigned to form a startup technology company (outside the game industry), which is why we’ve posted about the open position. This change won’t impact the game…we’re really pleased with the look and feel that Brian helped create for Diablo III, and the new person we bring onboard will work with the other artists on the team to maintain the art style moving forward."

Well if your going to disagree, make a point about it instead of wasting space.
Oh your a cute one too, huh? Well, I won't waste my time making a formal point, becuase I know one thing most of you "ZOMFG RAINBOWS?" people have in common is that you won't listen anyway, because everyone knows your opinions matter the most.
But maybe you should have read a little of the other parts first before coming to the "it's totally going to change, I know it" conclusion.
Like i said before, where is the link stating that specific information? not only do you edit your post to completely change around what i said, but your quoting my post that i deleted because you changed your post first that i quoted, which had no point. Clever, ass hat, but clever.

Well there's the little whipper snapper.... I think we have like two threads discussing the same thing or something. I'm getting confused with all mah tabs up thar.
I dont understand why all this information is going threw this MTV bullshit and not blizzards main site. Its confusing the shit out of me. I cant tell if its real or not.

The only real info we got is that the art director quit. that's for sure! (they posted on their site job application about new art director for Diablo 3, yea they specifically said D3)
Why he quit/got sacked we don't really know, we can only make assumption.
My guess is that he got fired because ppl didn't like what they saw, he made it too much "artistic" and wow-like. Blizzard doesn't wanna look weak and influenced by the angry messes made some excuse to cover it up by saying he quit to open his own company.
- Look in one of the reviews Wilson stated that 4 chars out of 5 are fully playable and that they are working now on act II. there are still places the new art director can influence big time, if not why not give the job to one from within Blizzard if there are oh so little changes needed? doesn't make sense imo.
But like somebody else already mentioned, most likely the natural progression of the game into darker places in later acts will probably have lots of potitioners saying they actually changed it instead of realizing that's what was going to happen all along regardless of fans.
why MTV and not some good site like gamespot?!?!
i mean.... MUSIC TV, what the hell.
Because GameSpot isn't really good anymore. They've lost a good chunk of their writing staff and they aren't very consistent. MTV's got connections and quality and they just so happened to focus on what we all want the most.

It's looking the way it is, grats people who liked it, bad luck those who didn't.
Exactly.
Some people just like to bitch and hypothesize all day. I guess it's because they're all bored out of their minds..
