Hello everyone! I'm new here, this is the 1st time I writte in these forums.
I wanted to know how many people think like me: Diablo 3 graphics are awful!
They should make this game with better graphics and textures, which are very poor in waht we have seen by now...
for example:
Look at that creepy statue! No textures at all! How many polygons do you thing they used for this horriblwee detail? 20? 10? 5?
The character design is very poor too
Let's continue with this one:
WTF!! Look at those candles!! just SQUARES!
AND THE CHAIR! AND THE TABLE! AND THE SKULLS!
DID I FORGET SOMETHING? AH.. YESS!!! THE WALLS!!
So, if after these you though the same as me, then please tell me, maybe we could change these if we complain together!
Bashing polygon amounts is the dumbest thing you can ever do when attacking the graphics of the game. Yes. They are low. You know why?
The game is in alpha stage.
The game is not intended for highly high-end computers.
The game is played with a top down view that's pretty far from those candles, so their poly count doesn't matter.
no. stfu. it looks fine, this is a pointless post.
compare d2 to this. d2 was 2d this is 3d accept the change or go play a ps2 or w/e the hell you kids do these days (rofl)

It's called placeholders. It's what us modders and the game designers create in games, animations, etc until satisfied with the generic composition and appearance of things before making a high-detailed version. You don't just make a prototype chassis off a sports car either right away without having made scale models etc first. If it doesn't work out, it'd be alot of time and resources wasted.
I'm hoping Blizzard is getting the hint and makes the game eerier and more forbidding. D1 had a feel to it that even D2 didn't recapture entirely. I know some here don't get it but a lot of us do, there is something to it. Last time I checked the petition there were over 50,000 signatures. It's not just a darker look but also the music and general feeling of despair from the villagers that displayed in the game. You really felt like you were their last hope in D1, the music in town gave that sense as well, and in the dungeons you really felt alone down there without a paddle spare the weapon you carried and skill to use it.
The D3 game play music was more epic battle-ish, not ominous as one would expect when evil spreads over the land again. The initial tomb scene, brightest damn tomb I ever saw. Not like the dungeons in D1 while looking for Leoric or the lost town people. Not like the jail in the monastery or the levels below the palace. Even the outdoors in D1 and D2 were more overcast, well save the desert on Lut Gholein but then even the Claw Vipers had there moment of darkening the place. The outdoors in the game play video looked more something out of a children’s story if it weren’t for the evil critters running around.
To me Diablo has been cross between a medieval horror story and a LOTR fantasy. The initial presentation of D3 didn’t carry that torch, it would bode well for Blizzard to reassure us fans it is still carry’s the elements we loved about the past games.

That's about the most pathetic excuse for not providing gamers with kick-ass graphics (a-la-Crysis).
When game developers build a game, they should provide gamers with a game that is great at graphics, gameplay, fun, storyline and cinematics. Game devs should not be making any compromise.
It's ridiculous that you take those screenshots and enlarge them till they look bad, and then complain about graphics of some game that isn't even 10% ready. I could take screenshots from crysis and enlarge them till you can see all the pixels and say: DAMN THIS GAME HAS BAD GRAPHICS.
If you don't like it: THEN WHY THE HELL ARE YOU COMPLAINING HERE?! YOU DON'T NEED TO WAIT THIS GAME AND BUY IT IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT! And if you do like it THEN STOP COMPLAINING!
Personally I wont play Diablo 3 enlarged 10x and I think that no will anyone other either.

Its always the hardware thats holding developers back. Tell someone to make an affordable supercomputer and the devs can go to town on graphics. Technically raytracing can be implemented in games, however there isn't hardware available yet that can do it but developers are talking about it.
Who cares though? Sure the graphics in Crysis were amazing but there was no replayability. You run through the entire game in a week and there is no point in playing it anymore unless your friends want to come over and jizz on the monitor at the graphics.
Also Blizzard doesn't leave the casual gamers behind. Why render an insignificant prop like a candle with a 10,000 polygon count thats just going to require more processing power to render? There is none. If you clear out a room and sit there staring at the candles I think you might have been fed lead paint chips as a child.

We've seen these pictures a billion and one times, and I'm sure it's only a matter of time before a mod comes along and says something like
"Please direct all further art discussion to this thread here."
anyways this post may as well be locked.

Okay, I want Diablo 3 to run on Windows 3.1 and pentium 1 with 128 mb ram.
