So I'm in planning on purchasing a new laptop in the next week, and I want to make sure it has more than enough specs to make the game run well. Does anyone have a guess about what the game will require?
They didn't release any spec requirements yet.
But we do know they want D3 available to a wide audience.
So with that in mind don't expect you'll be needing crazy specs.
I'm pretty sure whatever new laptop you buy will be able to handle Diablo 3. Aren't Core2Duo, 1 gig ram, 128mb Video Card the standard now for laptops? If that is, that should be fine.
Yea, I plan on eventually getting a new laptop and I'd expect, considering the how the graphics will likely turn out, that you won't need crazy specs. Most likely any PC out today could handle it.

We can only speculate, but they said a wide audience.
Maybe a single core 2.0 gHz, with 512 Ram, 128MB video card for the low settings?
Perhaps the most important component one must consider, is the hardware handling the graphical aspects of the game. Reducing this to the amount of memory integrated within is unfortunately woefully inadequate and insufficient. Doing so would be akin to stating that vehicles are powerful based on the size of its wheels. One should rightfully consider the engine to be of greater importance in such a case would one not? Thus, as with the vehicle analogy, one must first consider the primary engine of the hardware before considering the amount of memory available to its disposal.
try to have more than todays "normal". I'd expect around 256mb of video ram at least and 1-2 gb ram. A dual core processor should be ok for it i guess. (all speculation of course).
i'm going for much more on a desktop computer, though. Just to make sure.
i am thinking that a dell xps even the 13" screen ones and the sony will fair fine against the game. however, that isnt to say that they will look the best. i would try and get a new dell laptop, you've got time, the game wont be released for another year atleast

I'm focusing more on the graphics card rather than the memory. 1gb of ram should do it, and about 25mb for the graphics card. Let's not forget that blizzard folks know how to make games that don't require hi-end specs.

I think just by looking at the gameplay videos you can pretty much guess what kind of specs you need. As the previous posters have said, a lot of the laptops today will be able to run it. However... do you really wanna JUST run it?! That simply won't do this legendary game justice! Fork out an extra $500 bucks and get a higher end laptop with a 256 video card. If you were cool you'd get a 512 video card. You do want to be cool don't you??!!
what are you talking about a 256mb 8800 gt from Nvidia costs around 130 euro (which should be around 200$). The 512mb versions are relatively more expensive and cost around 200 euro. Its still not too much if you consider the power you get. And if you make them work on SLi... Oh the joy!
thats what i'm planning btw, 1-2 graphics cards, 4gb ram and a decent quad core cpu. The motherboard has to have SLi support because even if i dont get a second graphics card immediately, i'll get one more later on anyway.

Over confidence is the rot.
