as a response to some earlier posts about Blizzard not going to care about 50,000 signatures.
Think of it this way: lets say those 50,000 people manage to resist not buying Diablo 3. And lets assume that tax is non existent and Diablo 3 retails at an even 50 dollars a piece. Blizzard stands to lose 2.5 million dollars if those disgruntled fans that would otherwise buy the game, dont. Granted, Diablo 3 is going to sell well over a million copies in the US alone, and that is 50 million dollars, but still, 2.5 isn't chump change either. They're going to want to reach as many people as they can to get them to buy their product. Thats why they're making the game the way it is right now with easier to use skills, health globes, flashy graphics and animation, because they want to appeal to as many audiences as they can as well as grab people who wouldn't normally pick up a PC game (console noobs).
I assure you, they aren't going to completely redirect the art theme of Diablo 3, however, they will refine it to an extent in hopes to please those 50,000 people.
I think the point of the trailer was to give us a taste, I don't think it's going to be the darkest part of the game or the "best" it was just what was the most completed (not completely done, just more so than the rest) and had the least revealing of the plot so they put it in the trailer.
It is? Well if thats the case -and taking in consideration that a trailer is ment to "warm" people for your game, thus showing them the best you have, the stuff that makes people the most happy, many of them being Diablo's fanbase- then its less preposterous to assume the game will be even worse, that it will look like a complete rehash of WoW. But don't let that logic hold you from calling people who have a concern, people that might turn that tide, idiots.
I agree with Daemaro.
As for your reply, you say,"warm people for your game.." I fail to understand this because from what I understand about Diablo 3, it is an over-the-top highly anticipated title.. With that in mind, I see no reason for them to show off their best of the game to try and get people to warm up to it.. I think that the game's name, and history alone is more than enough warmth for most fans.. I really dont see how, and why Blizzard would suddenly decide to take this game in a completely new direction, even though the past games did so well with their over-all storyline, and art-style.. I also don't see how they would fit the Diablo storyline in a completely cheery world, and terrain, hence being the reason why I believe that the trailer type atmosphere was but a 1% of the game and what we can expect.. Also being the reason why I'm not worried, and why constant bitching and moaning from some of you people pisses me right off.. If you take the game's history, and storyline into account, then it really makes zero sense for them to pursue a whole new art-style-direction for the entire game.. Its like trying to fit a squre into a round hole, it doesnt fit, and therefore it isnt going to happen..

It's also just as illogical to assume that the very first footage and early build of the game is representative of the final product.
Circumstantially, it's very probable that it is one of those "this is what we have, take a look" trailers. No one is debating that the concern is void at all.
Nomatter how you turn it, nomatter how you try to make sense with nonsensical arguments, the facts of how the trailer looks still stand, and so does the concern, wich is entirely viable nomatter if you like it or not.
How the trailer looks is all opinion based.
No I don't they showed us the best or the worst, I think thats the part that was most bug free and completed and didn't reveal any important bosses or story plot.
Should they of shown part of the last act and the final boss?
Either way you wanna look at it, it was just a taste of the game, nothing more nothing less.
seriously?!?!?lmfao, im gonna go find it and sign it, is there a link on this thread?

And the taste has a bad aftertaste in many people's mouth, yet you try your hardest to discredit concerns based on what exactly?
What am I trying to discredit?
I think you're a little bit stand offish. All I'm saying is that it was a small part of the game, not the best or worst just the most fluid. So they gave it to us to get us prepared, it's part of marketing.
Keep the art althought I prefer the darker aspect. I want the story! Lore! And Continuation of the series!
I wouldn't mind it a tad darker either but I think we'll miss out on a lot of the cool things if it was darker, like things in the background and breakable walls etc etc.
Sorry to say this but if you have a fantasy about killing critters or small animals in general and your a teenager that's the making of a serial killer.
I still think that there's going to be much much darker environments.. Bring a flash-light/torch type environments.. I honestly believe that they're trying to create a variety of different atmospheres, both for realism and replayability; while staying true to the storyline and keeping that evil/gorey feel.. I dont feel like it has to be just one element (ie, art-direction) that will carry the Diablo feel. It can be a few elements. For an example, in a cheery type atmosphere, it might be a combination of monsters, quest, music, changing weather(ie. thunder, rain..).. In other places it'll be a combination of the terrain, music, monsters and that dark art-style that we're all too familiar with.. Plus, who's to say that the trailer was even an accurate representation of the cherrier environments? By the time the game is complete, that part of the game could look like Hell... After all, the game still is in production...

Based on facts WoW sold a fuckton, based on concervative marketing (wich is always conservative) Diablo + WoW = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.........KACHIN!!
So, instead of denial, or assumptions based on nonsensical reasoning, why not look at the trailer of D3 and try to form an actual opinion about it. For example the "opinion" that for some unnamed "totally making sense" reason D3 looks exactly how Diablo should look like and somehow supposedly Diablo never looked like anything Diablo should look like.
Let the "its 8 years ago" argument roll in, whatever is the most convinient. Its not like its unpredictable or anything.
My opinion is rock hard because its based on logic. As for the above reply, that still doesnt make any sense. A Diablo storyline simply cannot fit into a completely cheery type atmosphere..

Still sounds like unbased assumptions, oh wait, it is.
Seriously, for the last time, why simply not base your arguments on, you know, actual information. Wait let me think where we can find this "information", oh yea thats right, the trailer!
I'm getting tired.
Blizzard already said they're going for more variety in the environments. That + Diablo = Darker. It's not baseless at all.

How each individual views the trailer is all assumption...
You view it as that's how the whole game will look, that's a assumption.
Some view it as the rest of the game will look much different and darker, that's a assumption.
I prefer to view it as it's what was done, and they wanted to show us SOMETHING. Also a assumption but it seems more fair to me than to just assume one way or another.
Don't act like what you say is the gospel and there is no assumption in your argument.

That doesn't stop 5 million gamers from buying. Question is, will any of them be fans of the series.
Some will become fans, some will stay fans, some will move on. It's not really important in a one time pay game like Diablo. You pay you play, you stay or leave, you still paid your money and they got theirs.
I'm saying the trailer looks like how the trailer looks and i object to how the trailer looks, for fucks sake, stop throwing around assumptions of "the game will this, or the game will that" (not to you personally only)
go watch the trailer agian... the second time around is much more appealing... just because u get to take in all the blood and gore that u didnt notice the first time obviously... and the colors help because it makes the darkness more prevalent when compared to something lighter
I'm saying the trailer looks like how the trailer looks
Okay if we're going STRICTLY on how the trailer looks, I dislike the green glow, and the large shoulder pads, a few of the colors seem out of place, besides that I think it looks pretty nice.
Last time i checked "someone saying something" (especially PR) doesn't defeat how a trailer looks.
Err. That was a response to your response on Rukahs "I think the game will look darker" post, to which you replied was a baseless assumption. Honestly, if you're discrediting an actual Blizzard person then what do you consider valid information?

Based on logic. An entirely cheery world, and Diablo storyline don't fit.. It = fail. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure that one out.
I wouldn't mind it a tad darker either but I think we'll miss out on a lot of the cool things if it was darker, like things in the background and breakable walls etc etc.
