I'm more of a forum reader rather than a poster, but I couldn't help myself with this one..
Like all of you, I check diablofans.com, blizzplanet.com, and (of course) diablo3.com religiously for updates on the coming of the holy grail of games - our beloved Diablo 3. However, upon checking the introduction of diablo3.com a few minutes ago, I noticed that there was something amiss...
The introductory text has changed! The old text reads [retrieved from [thread link="http://www.diablofans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10591"]here[/thread link]]:
Two decades have passed since the demonic denizens, Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal, wandered the world of Sanctuary in a vicious rampage to shackle humanity into unholy slavery. Yet for those who battled the Prime Evils directly, the memory fades slowly and the wounds of the soul still burn. When Deckard Cain returns to the ruins of Tristram's Cathedral seeking clues to new stirrings of evil, a comet from the heavens strikes the very ground where Diablo once entered the world. The comet carries a dark omen in its fiery being and it calls the heroes of Sanctuary to defend the mortal world against the rising powers of the Burning Hells – and even the failing luminaries of the High Heavens itself.

Two decades have passed since the demonic lords, Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal, set out across the world of Sanctuary on a vicious rampage, twisting humanity to their unholy will. Yet for those who battled the Prime Evils, the memory fades slowly. When Deckard Cain returns to the ruins of Tristram Cathedral seeking clues to defeat new stirrings of evil, a fiery harbinger of doom falls from the heavens, striking the very ground where Diablo once entered the world. This fire from the sky reawakens ancient evils and calls the heroes of Sanctuary to defend the mortal world against the rising powers of the Burning Hells once again.
The three important things to take from that change are as follows:
1) The 'thing' that falls from the sky is no longer a comet, but a fiery harbinger of doom (which still could be a comet, but could be other things as well).
2) The heroes of Santuary no longer are mentioned having to "..defend the mortal world against.. the falling luminaries of the High Heavens itself."
3) Blizzard knowingly and deliberately changed the text.
Have at it, y'all. What do you think this means? And do you think it's a good change or a bad one?
No sir, I don't like it. Yet maybe they decided to save the High Heavens for the expansion pack. Or maybe that petition BS made them change and compromise the entire direction of the game, essentially aiming it down skid row where Diablo 3 will suck beyond words. Then I'll get to take out the lead pipe and start busting some heads.
Doesn't change much for me, it's bound that they will find mistakes and correct them, or alter their stories, because they are human, and well they make mistakes.

i think it means the angel (specifically tyreal, i think...can't remember which one the speculation abounds on) will in fact be an enemy, if not an end boss
Very interesting i liked the old one better maybe they had to dumb it down a bit... im feeling a Teen rating going to hit this game not a M....
The devs already said it's going to be M... do you read anything at all? Or you just like to complain about every little thing Blizzard does? I thought your signature said otherwise.

Tyrael will not be an enemy in Diablo 3. If any angel is to be an enemy, I'd put money on Imperius. Stop with the retarded ----ing speculation about Tyrael being corrupt. It's overplayed and just wrong from every conceivable angle.
Tyrael = Guardian of Sanctuary who would sacrifice his own rank and status in defense of the mortals.
Imperius = Racist douche who believes humans are impure abominations that need to be purged along with the entire world of Sanctuary.

Calm down m8 i was just curios cus now there not trying to make slaves out of us anymore lol
The change from "slavery", is just basically a correction of what the Demons truly want out of the people of Sanctuary. They want to use us to destroy heaven, but they don't really need to enslave us to do this.
"wounds of the soul still burn" This reminds me of the Sin War Trilogy, where Uldyssian carries a heavy burden that weighs on his soul. They could have just been drawing a similarity to Uldyssian, but now they have deemed it not necessary anymore.
What I get from the comet change, is that they don't want us to think "comet" anymore. This rules out all possibility that it is just a rock falling from outerspace that happens to crash into the monestary. More importantly though, it is no longer just carrying an "omen", but it is the "Harbinger of Doom".
The most important thing I took from this change is that they don't want us to think that we are going to fight Angels. But it sure as hell looks that way now. I think we were right on the money with the "Imperius Theory"
Thanks a lot for the info about the text.
I hope we'll have to fight against (Fallen) Angels and travel onto decayed Heavens !
Seems that's it can be real !

I hope that's not the case, then we will never know what it would have been. To the people against every decision Blizzard is making, let them make their own decisions, let them use their imaginations, so Diablo 3 is something new and creative.
This is a very intriguing find. I definately believe that the forums must have been getting too close to the "Imperius Theory" and were unravelling either the plot of D3 or what we should expect from the exspansion (assuming that there will be one).

eh what the heck its still pretty good. its knida too late to change major plotlines unless they delay isnt it?
"to the worm in horseradish, the world is horseradish."
also on this off-topic do you think D2 would still have a M rating compared to games released nowadays?
Tyrael = Guardian of Sanctuary who would sacrifice his own rank and status in defense of the mortals.
Imperius = Racist douche who believes humans are impure abominations that need to be purged along with the entire world of Sanctuary.
Probably just because they want to make a big surprise !

That or they're saving the Imperius part for a expansion. Which would make more sense to me.
I notice the same thing! Does that mean they decided to take out the High Heaven part of the story?^_^
I think they changed the intro and removed the concept sketch to try to hide the fact it's Imperius but it's too late.
Take THAT Blizzard!
