So, i was wondering about the strong issue in the game: the Disappearing Corpses.
Why do they can't just make them stay ?
(like in half life 2 for example)
I know a lot of you will think they make it like that because they think it will "load and be very heavy to some PC's to save all of this materials for ever", but I think that it's a shame if all the corpses will just vanish and disappear, and i'm sure that they CAN make it happend!
As for now, I just hate..
(I can of course live with it, but it's a huge con in the game).
I want to see the Corpses on the floor, with blood, with the feeling that they are actually real.
I can assure you that it will feel much more fun, real and exciting.
I hope they will fix it or change it somehow in the full game.
What do YOU think ?

First of all, Thanks a lot for all the comments.
Second of all, I think that they can make these things possible:
1. Put the corpse vanish as an option in the game menu.
2. Like goodguy8705 said: The corpses stay for a certain period of time and then are either sucked into the ground or ignite burning to ash or like dub Lucifer said: "wildlife should eat them after certain period of time.. etc..", so that at least its visually appealing to see them disappear, and it will be very awesome too.
They can't just let them disappear like nothing, it's too lame, it doesn't look cool, and doesn't renew anything of the game's past.
If they wanna make a game that will really 'tremble' all the fan's, they should work on that stuff harder and not just take the easy way.
And in this case, the easiest way is to make the corpses disappear.
I think that they have two solid options at this point.
1. The corpses stay.
2. The corpses stay for a certain period of time and then are either sucked into the ground or ignite burning to ash so that at least its visually appealing to see them disappear. Then they can explain that since they are demonic in nature, they are simply returning to where they came from.
Well... with the amount of mobs that swarm the heroes, as seen in the gameplay trailer, having a lot of corpses could cause a lot of lag on both the server and the client, depending on what type of server they wish to do.

Considering they will probably do the same thing they did with WoW with there servers, it is most likely just a concern about the client side. And lets face it, Blizz knows the average person has shitty computers, thus they want to make it take as little processing power as possible.
True, but if I remember correctly, Diablo II was a server-side system, but I don't think that'll truly be a problem for the upcoming game. Either way, more corpses lying around = more lag for everyone, not just those in the room, especially with the graphical intent of the new game.

Yes, and WoW is ran in a combination of Server-side and Client-side. And it run's wonderfully, especially considering there are eight thousand people per "room", a little more then the eight people per room in Diablo.
There are many things from WoW that they should not take, but the server hardware style is NOT one of them.
I agree on the server hardware.... though I do wish they would go the Guild Wars route, where you had the outposts as the "rooms" and the rest of the world was instanced. That made a lot of sense to me.

Does it really bother you that much that the bodies disappear after a certain amount of time? That's just retarded... If they game has to keep every body without clearing it would eventually start to lag very badly.
i wouldn't call it bothering me to the point that im like "FUCK JO BLIZZEARD" it's more just something that add's the icing to the cake. Though i never expected bodies to stay there forever a extended time, or limit would be nice. But to be honest i dont really care on the issue that much in the first place.
I think the corpse(s) should remain on the ground untouched for about five minutes. The next five minutes, wildlife should eat them. Now it makes sense, (it didn't disappear coyotes came and ate it) or a flock of buzzards could randomly appear and pick it apart until it's gone.
In any case, all that should be left behind is a skeleton (or pieces of one), which will disappear when it rains ( slowly sink into the ground) all of this could be done in about ten or fifteen mins.
Would it not be awesome to say to someone (you better come get your corpse before the wolves finish it off)
Monsters and players should be the same thing.. and If you can't manage to get to your corpse (to retrieve you items) in the fifteen min time period, you could retrieve it by talking to an NPC in town or something.
As long as it does not lagg or hinder the game in anyway, they should adopt something like this.
theres much more mobs in d3 than d2 imo - if that barb had to see all them ghoul corpses.. i dont think i could have seen anything at all around him lol.. corpse disappearing disappointed me, but its logical to have.

i like this option... but not having them stay there too long... but ignite on contact when they die...
i think why they are making the corpses disappear is to not kill the ram of the PCs... that is what i am thinking...
edit : wait after reading the other posts, are we talking about the corpses of the zombies, skeletons and other enemies? or your main character when he kicks the dust and you have to go back and try to retrieve your goods?
they dissapear so that means there is no necro to summon skeles........
well that would sure suck for anyone playing the Necromancer... what would be the point if you can't summon skeletons... yeah i know you can summon other things, but that is not cool if they are disabling the Necromancer's skills...

How many corpses have you physically seen?
12.5.... the last one was only the upper body.... but it was nifty anyway...
Besides.... how long does roadkill stay before it magically disappears?

Making Controversial points one post at a time!
id rather them do it but i hate the floating numbers idea

but I would rather them fade away than just sit there, 100 rag dolls in a few feet from a person could get ridiculous
