Yes, I've seen those screenshots a million times, especially when you have those silly signatures whenever you post. I should also note that your 4th and 7th link have already reached their bandwidth limit. And I do NOT like any of the desaturated photoshop edits. If I'm going to be playing this game on an awesome LED 30" backlit monitor, I damn well better be playing it with colorful 3D graphics, not some shitty colorless and light inhibiting environment that makes me utilize only 50% of the screen space at the center of my huge monitor. Seriously, get with the times people.
It's not like we're seeing one of those colorful korean mmorpg's like Ragnarok Online or Fly for Fun. You're so busy disliking the color that you failed the realize one of the barbarians got their head violently ripped off by the siege beast. That, my friend, looks like a true Diablo game to me.
I've talked with a lot of people on this forum and it's obvious there are many who don't like the new graphical style. There are also a lot of people who think it's an overreaction. A lot of the people who think it's an overreaction haven't checked out all of the altered screenshot examples of what a Diablo game should look like so I've compiled them in this thread. Feel free to discuss.
If you have any more altered screenshots please post them.
Heres my two cents, I think this is all a bunch of Bullshit Non-Sense, people need to quit moaning around with sticks up their ass and get with it. It's getting ridiculous, those pictures didn't even fix anything, and if anything, it looks worse. Gosh damn nerds.
One of the only things I don't like about the new art direction is the green lighting. Where is it coming from?
It's those seemingly minor things that make the game feel less authentic. We're not asking Blizzard to redesign the entire game, just to remember that this isn't a sequel to WoW, it's a Diablo sequel. Watch the picture in my sig, you can't tell me that the changes in there don't make it look more like a Diablo game...

Did you never use poison or cold spells? Or have a elemental weapon?
I just don't get it.
Nobody's saying there shouldn't be colors, there are just too many colorful things. The main problem is merely that the colors are too saturated to look realistic, especially for a Diablo game.
Everyone seems to think that I'm arguing that Blizzard should be making a game using only black and white, that's not true. They're just making the world too bright, pretty, and colorful to fit into the gritty hell-on-earth that is supposed to be Diablo.

I kind of like the light radius but then you wouldn't be able to see neat things in the background like the Assault Beast running in the background in the gameplay video.
My thoughts exactly! Also, I'd probably have a tough time finding my barb friend hiding in the shade, maybe with a throwing weapon, while we pvp

I said earlier in this same thread (I think) that I like those signature, but they're not the same as the pictures. The photo shopped pictures look crappy to me.
Diablo is not hell on earth. Sacntuary has been safe for 20 years. It takes time for things to become dark and gritty. Only after many years were things corrupted in the original games. After the prime evils were banished back to the abyss I'd assume things are almost back to normal by D3 time.
So now the colors look too realistic? Because most people are saying too much color makes it too cartoony like WoW... I just can't understand that point.
Some changes would be nice but I don't want anything major. Green lighting can go away, the oversized items can leave, and the colors can be toned down a TINY bit maybe, besides that I think it looks fine.

I'm saying the exact opposite, the abundance of colors make the game look fake and cartoony like WoW. The only point I'm making with this thread is the one you state here:

These are the things that should be changed to make it look more like a Diablo game. The only thing I would add to the mix is the light radius (line of sight).
Have you ever played a Diablo game? That's what it is, brown, red, black, and white.
Have you, jackass?
Why do you morons think Diablo is this totally grey dungeon?
The only place in the E-N-T-I-R-E G-A-M-E that is ANYWHERE near as dark as you seem to think it is would be the Monastary and the Caves, woo-hoo.
Why don't you take a stroll though f&ckin' Kurast or the Far Oasis once and a while, okay? Or the slopes of Mount Arreat? Jeeze... newbs.
OK? Unless you've never seen them in ANY 'time' except Night, then you're just f*ckin' I-N-S-A-N-E. Bonkers. Nuts.
And guess what; we havent even see D3 at night! LOL! Oh, snap, does your argument fail utterly and totally?
And if you want a bland, disturbingly non-colored video game, then actually have an intelligent thought and MAXIMIZE YOUR CONTRAST AND THEN TURN THE SATURATION AAAALLLL THE WAY DOWN! G.J!

Blizzard is not responsible for the death and loss of your hardcore characters for any reason including Internet lag, bugs, Acts of God, your little sister, or any other reason whatsoever. Consult the End User License Agreement for more details. Blizzard will not, and does not have the capability to restore any deceased Hardcore characters. Don't even ask. La-la-la-la-la, we can't hear you..,

Well that's fine but the photo shopped pics just look TOO unsaturated.
If they could make light radius work somehow it'd be nice, but I want to be able to see things in the background.
Some of the scripted events wouldn't even be noticeable with light radius. Like the wall falling on the merc, you couldn't see it well. Or the wall up ahead that you can destroy to kill some zombies. Or the beast in the background.

the style in d2 is completely different from d3, all your examples can be disprovable.

Remember the String of Ears
"to the worm in horseradish, the world is horseradish."
If you want bland ugly looking colors with bad repetitive Tilesets, then go play Hellgate:London and quit whining. Argument Solved. They just need to fix the Green Lighting in Diablo 3 so it doesn't look like theres green film over your screen in some areas.
The diablo 3 staff already said that they realize people are petitioning but they have the guts and the brass necessary to stand by their convictions and say that they don't plan on changing it. They already tried three different art styles, and it's safe to assume that the classic bland look was the first. But most of the people that fell in love with the color scheme grew out of the genre a long time ago, they evolved and moved on to other ways to be exposed to the soothing yet gritty darkness, even producing it themselves with poetry, music, and other art. This is Blizzard's chance to captivate a new crowd of promising individuals and envelope them into what petitioners already know is an amazing, amazing, game series. Anyone that truly thinks that they deserve to think of themselves as Diablo veterans or true diablo fans period will understand that this is an amazing opportunity for growth. Growth of the game, of the series, of the company, and all Diablo cannon!

Good point!
Also, perhaps the D3 team took a note from Remedy and the Max Payne team and decided to get our characters all hopped up on Valkyr.
It's time to welcome the other 80% of the color wheel to a Diablo game.
for all means i love it no matter what, but i do hope for some graphical interventions.
we should let this thread die tho, its like the billionth one
