I heard you could sign that petition more than once lol
These 30 thousand signatures could actually belong to only 30 people
I signed it and the only thing it checks for is duplicate email addresses (by the way, it's up to 40,000 names now). But do you really think 30 people would have the patience to sign the petition that many times? Gamers are too lazy for that
Could someone please explain to me what the supposed problem is here? I viewed the gameplay videos last week, and was utterly thrilled. I've been wishing for years that there would finally be a Diablo 3, and now it's here. From what I can understand from that doofy yahoo video, people are complaining because the graphics aren't anything like Diablo 2? Um, to my eyes, it looked almost exactly like the same Diablo formula, and the graphics for the dungeon area where the barbarian meets Deckard Cain looked VERY gothic and creepy. if anything, I think the graphics are like Diablo 2 on steroids. What, teh interdweebs pissed off that there are outside areas that look peaceful? You know...something varied? Gods, the villany.
To me this sounds like a bunch of :necro:'s who wear carpal tunnel braces 24/7 being pissed off cause it's not the Diablo 3 they wet their beds dreaming about for the last 7 or 8'ish years. Get over it. It looks beautiful, it looks very gothic and atmospheric, and the skills looked completely in line with Diablo. ( I mean, a bone wall of ZOMBIES? Come on now!)
I think everyone needs to just chill, and wait and see what the end result is. I will definitely NOT be signing this petition; I think Blizzard is doing just fine.

(The sign says "NECRO" btw...)
People are upset about all of the subtleties that make the Diablo series so creepy. Sure you're in a dungeon, but it looks like a dungeon straight from World of Warcraft. You really can't see how much of a difference it makes until you see some of the altered screenshots:
I understand why people want a dark game when they play Diablo, everything is supposed to be in utter chaos and such but that doesn't mean that color has to be lost in the development of the game. If someone wants a darker experience in the game they can turn the gamma lower on their screen. I for one Think Blizzard knows exactly what they are doing. Besides they know that all the people who signed that petition will buy the game either way and they also know that if they go back and redesign all the graphics, they will have to postpone the release of the game which could in turn piss more people off then they did with the graphics so I don't see any motivation for Blizzard to re-animate the game.

"I will give you my blessing," the demon croaked..."And then... I will dine on your entrails and drink your blood from a cup fashioned from your fragile skull..."

Go look at the before and after screenshots of Starcraft 2. Blizzard made it overly bright (like they are doing with D3) fans complained, they fixed it. Now it looks like a Starcraft game.

It isn't a gamma issue, it's a saturation issue. There's too much color. Gamma has to do with lighting, which is also an issue, but you can't just turn down the gamma to solve the problem. There's absolutely no light radius in Diablo 3. Check out the first picture I linked:

It's a matter of opinion I think most of the altered screen shots are overdone and crappy. What's the point in 3D if it's so dark and gloomy nothing stands out and I can't see things?
The only things I like are most of the changes in Corwyn's (I think that's who is making them) signatures.
I will sign this right away Blizzard needs to know that this outrage wont be put up with. This is an outrage, BTW Blizzard you need to hire the guys who fixed the screenshots right away to save your game.
When Diablo 2 sold 20Million, don't change it. We don't need an overhaul, we need D3.
It's a matter of opinion I think most of the altered screen shots are overdone and crappy.
Well, the screenshots were redone by amateurs trying to show what they thought it could look like. It's not supposed to be literally copy+pasted into the game. They're just there to remind everyone how the Diablo series used to make you feel with its visuals.

Remember when there was a zombie behind a pillar in Diablo 2? it was dark back there and you couldn't see him. It added to the creepiness of the game. Having a line of sight is very important when making a scary game. When monsters are behind a pillar in Diablo 3 you know right where they are and it takes away all of the suspense.
I'm not going to kick the proverbial dead squirrel again and explain why the graphics are wrong.
I'm just going to say this:
People cannot be told what to like or not like.
And 47 thousand (althouth the actual number is debatable)
people tell their resounding "Do Not Want" to Blizzard.
And that means something.
There always will be people who settle for less and happy with whatever they get,
but all of us who signed the petition, we don't want to be told what to like by anyone.
We know what we want, and that is Diablo sequel that stays true to original.
All those who want colorful Diablo or fail to notice differences, I respect them,
as they are entitled to have their opinion, I, however, along with 47 thousand other people,
reserve my right to respectfully disagree.
P.S.
I think that the guy who started the petition was a real hero:
because a lot of people just looked at the game and thought:
"Meh, this looks crappy but, who cares, if Blizzard decided it, then it must be right",
but thanks to the petition they can see that 47 thousand people also think that it's wrong,
they now start to think "Hey, wait a minute, it's not just me who thinks that this is wrong"
and now we know that we are right.
P.S.S.
Trying to post on WoW Diablo 3 forum is pretty much useless,
as it is filled with 14 year old Blizzard fanboys, who claim to cancel their WoW accounts
the minute Diablo 3 is released, and will flame anyone who will bring as much as ounce of criticism
and not be a dumb admirer of Diablo 3.

I don't think it made it creepy, it made it annoying. I like to see things I'm going to kill.
Besides in D1 didn't it highlight things behind pillars and in the dark, when you hovered over them? I can't remember exactly haven't played in years.
Edit: As for Yahoo, they're pretty big sell outs themselves, I don't see how Yahoo will have any more effect on the petition or artwork than G4 will.
They do want the style and approach that was used to make the previous games so great to be equally used in a sequel.
They didn't take a stylistic step forward. They took a stylistic leap into far left field, it doesn't even feel familiar.
The colors and artwork could be changed, but it's still not going to feel familiar. It's just something that happens when you go from sprites to 3D and a new engine.

We can only pray they listen to the fans again.

It looks much more interesting this way.
It's a matter of opinion I think most of the altered screen shots are overdone and crappy. What's the point in 3D if it's so dark and gloomy nothing stands out and I can't see things?
The only things I like are most of the changes in Corwyn's (I think that's who is making them) signatures.
And honestly, if certain outdoor sections have some color, then that would make the deep, dark dungeons have that much more of a creepy atmosphere.
Or, to put it a different way, if it never rained, would you ever be able to fully appreciate a sunny day?
It's time to welcome the other 80% of the color wheel to a Diablo game.
When Diablo 2 sold 20Million, don't change it. We don't need an overhaul, we need D3.

This is precisely the kind of thinking that holds back progress.
If you want Diablo 3 to be more like Diablo 2, play Diablo 2.
If you want a game that actually takes a step forward in terms of gameplay and style, it's time for Diablo 3.
Also, who says that 40,000 signatures means 40,000 people?
It's time to welcome the other 80% of the color wheel to a Diablo game.
As for how they look, that's all personal opinion. We'll just have to wait and see.
Nobody just wants a copy and paste of D2.
They do want the style and approach that was used to make the previous games so great to be equally used in a sequel.
