Keith Lee, the Lead Producer of Diablo 3 sat down to have an interview with our good friends over at inDiablo at the Blizzard Worldwide Initiative last week which can be read in German. Blizzard Guru would like to thank inDiablo for providing us with an exclusive on the English version of their interview, which follows after the jump:
...... Will Diablo 3 again be divided into different acts as Diablo 2, and can you make any estimate on how long it would take to play the whole game?
You know, it’s really tough to say that because in terms of game development nothing is really linear, there’s no way for us to say that we’re 20% there, because once you’re… you spend a lot of time working and iterating on the game and one of the things about our games is that we focus a lot about the quality and just ensuring that we’re happy with the product as well as all of our fans.
And so we may end up spending more or less time on it but ultimately we will want to ship it when its ready. We feel that we generated a lot of great content and we are excited to share more with you in the future.

He was using that number arbitrarily.
In another DiabloFans news post, a video was linked where Rob Pardo said that basically everything in the game was how they wanted it; the other classes were playable, the random dungeon generators were running smoothly; the only thing they really had to work on was constructing and polishing the single player stuff.

It's time to welcome the other 80% of the color wheel to a Diablo game.

My guess is that they decided announce D3 as early as possible so they could generate as much hype as possible before E3 in Las Vegas. Does anyone have the exact date on that?
I am positive they will announce more information at E3. The question is... how much more information will they share? =] Of course, this is all just speculation by me, but it just makes sense... I know if I was Blizzard I would release D3 just as they did to generate all that hype to get as much feedback as possible before I said anything further that might hurt them in the future.
We know they at least have a few more classes made because they said in one video that they are playable back at Blizzard HQ. So there is at least 2 more possibly all 3 are already made.

my english may not be as good as yours, but im sure that my portuguese is... http://xinube.mybrute.com/
Well, there are many sections that obviously have a much heavier weight than others. Diablo III looks very nice already, but no one knows how much work there is left, save for Blizzard-Activision.
Also, you can't forget the beta-testing stage at the end, as well as balancing. Balancing takes months.
Even if it was 20% done, that would mean Content wise, the engine is done, the graphics are pretty much done, the classes are all made and playable. The other 80% content is a piece of cake to make compared to the rest. The most time consuming part that's left is bug fixing and polishing.
Making content is nothing when the core is done, hell just look at NWN2, they included a mod tool and 2-3 persons can make a 3-4 hours adventure in a few months. Imagine what a team of 50+ professionals could do
You do realize he said "there's no way of saying were 20% there" meaning he doesn't know how far they are because there aren't any landmarks by which to judge how far they have left to go.

My goodness, and my fortress, my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and He in whom I trust…

Nvm, it's in the link.

why haven't they released any new info then?
Good games need time to be worked on.
Would you rather be shown everything and have there be no surprises?
It's time to welcome the other 80% of the color wheel to a Diablo game.
but still im getting freaking bored of waiting for new info

You guys act as if the development of Diablo 3 is like an experience bar in Diablo 2.
Making content is nothing when the core is done, hell just look at NWN2, they included a mod tool and 2-3 persons can make a 3-4 hours adventure in a few months. Imagine what a team of 50+ professionals could do
