Which only makes it worse. It is not all that good... it's just popular. Popular means it applies to the masses. Masses are stupid. Do the math.
yea, your ideas and brain power is way better then the masses..
Fan = fanatic = person who cannot think because they are blinded by their fanatism. Which you seem to be.
so im to assume your a fan/fanatic of nothing and thus blinded by nothing and above those who are. Well, blinded by nothing but your own arrogance which clearly shows.
"The ability to repeat the same sequence of actions for a prolonged time in a desaturated environment signifies a simple brain that is easily satisfied and does not require any stimulation. "

You sir are very holier then thou and preachy...you seem to think yourself better and smarter than others for whatever reason. Im sorry you got owned to the point of wanting to abolish a key point of the game from the sequel.
i feel like a loser when i say it but i connect on a whole new level with diablo.
it was my first real video game, ever. Diablo introduced me to the internet pretty much. nothing compares to the satisfaction of running outside of town and brawling it out in a free for all with 5 different people and killing every single one of them 1 after another.
NNNOOOTTHHING
NO not even the dropping of your bullshit legendary weapons on wow, its nothing to compare to the feeling that you tested your wits against 5 other people and still came out ontop.
the RPG category needs a new champion of pvp games and Diablo III is the perfect game for the job.
i hope blizzard doesnt fuck up and Diablo III is still apart of the Diablo series, because if i buy Diablo 3 and theres no hostile button on my party screen i am personaly never considering Diablo III apart of the real Diablo franchise that the brutaly genious game designers conjured many years ago.
Well I thought I should just add this: I am a huge fan of the Diablo series and I think change is good and needed for this series to thrive and stay successful over the years to come. That being said, I can't wait to find out more about the PvP system they plan to implement, and as far as PKing is concerned.. meh, makes little difference to me weather its in the game or not. I will admit though that I am not a fan of griefing and generally PKing someone takes no real skill. However we know very little about how PvP will work in Diablo3 so its probably a good idea not to start getting enraged until we have a good reason to.
BTW Blizzard already stated that Pk is not going to be in Diablo3

This is not about games, though. This is about how people play games...
I play a game, finish it... perhaps replay it if there is something new in it... and drop it. I may return to it later, but again, not for long. I can play multiplayer for a prolonged time, but only if multiplayer does not require severe repetition from me. Diablo's PvP requires me to enter repetition. Why would a sane person do this?
How people play Diablo? They replay the game 300 times to perfect a build. They do RUNS (aka repetition). They FARM (repetition).

PK is not what made me or my friends like Diablo. PK is what made us hate it. Please understand there are people with different opinions other than yours.
If a game is popular doesn't mean it's good. Or else you have to agree that Sims is the best game in the world. It sold as much as DIII never will. So lets worship Sims now.
Sales do not make a game. Game quality is a subjective value. You love everything about it, I only like parts.

No, that's an expansion. A game where nothing was changed, just added on.

it was a legend because of the masterminds that created such a great game.
A game is legend because it sells well and is popular. Doom was legend, so was DIablo, so is WoW, so is SC. Because they sold well. Doesn't mean they can't be good games, but just explains why they were "legendary". I don't see anything legendary about Diablo. Just another game. With a lot of hype. Nothing more, nothing less. I want to play it, and I want the sequel to it to be better, and I will buy that sequel.

you say diablo wasnt even that good of a game then you talk about it in such high regards about it being fast paced, full of action, randomized, and having a good storyline as if you got hit on the head so hard in the middle of typing that you completley forgot the first thing you typed in your post.
I do not believe those things make it a great game. Randomization makes it repetative. Fast pace is severly slowed down by certain factors. Game enjoyment is diminished by internet assholes being allowed to be such... Maybe you just need to think more.

im not even a pker myself, and i agree it takes next to nothing to do.
but i like being able to hostile every single person in a dueling game run out into the action and annihalte every person out there instead of having people decline my duel requests or decline my hostility or however you would want to put it.
however i love having the hostile option there when i myself am leveling a HC chare or SC even. it brings more thrill to the competetion and even just pve of the game, and without it diablo would be the same endless boring as hell xp grind that most other RPG's are nowadays.
if your scared of a challenge stick to WoW, if your up for something that requires skill and talent then play a real game.

i play wow, or did for a long while. now THAT is fucking repeditive to an entirely new level and if you dont agree with me your insane 0.o

sequel.

How about you understand there is something like an OPINION and some people do not like your style of play. It doesn't at all mean they want to play WoW or anything.
What Hack&Slash is faster? Alien Shooter. Much faster, much dumber. What PvP is faster? Nox's is. Much faster and more skill dependant.

Randomization means areas become bland. Look at Diablo II. Take the catacombs. All 3 levels are fucking exactly the same. Repetative. Wall placements do not make an area unique, you know. Take Diablo I. It has tons of levels of dungeons, then catacombs, then whatever. Yes, you get to go in a different direction every time. Doesn't change the fact that they are still the same and posses nothing unique. But at least DI had things like the butcher and leoric to spice things up.

wow on the other hand takes months of xp grinding to get to the end game pvp, wich with the options you have is incredibly repeditive considering your going to be doing the same exact battle grounds and arenas facing the same odds every time.

I can't. That's the problem. In order to get to PvP, you have to go to the loopholes. In Nox, there are no loopholes. You install the game, go to Multiplayer, join someone's game, and PvP with them fair and square. No need to level, trade, find friends to rush you or any of that crap.

Do they have a click system? Do they let you kill all monsters in the area without them respawning back the next instant? Why can't you? They can have an open PvP zone. Tons of MMORPG's have open PvP zones, mind you.
Make PvE and PvP servers. On PvP servers, things function in ways similar to the previous diablos - either hostile anywhere or hostile town 1-way toggles.
On the carebear servers, allow only consentual pvp.
Problem solved. The players that whine about being killed can play in fairy tale land and the real players can kill each other over and over and have fun doing it.

Wow, thats not biased in any way.
It's also going to go against what they're working for. Cooperative play.
If we have PVP Hardcore, PvP Softcore, PvE Hardcore, PvE Softcore, it's going to divide the community way too much.
I am all for PvP, it does not impact my play style. As for PKing.....have it so that once you have pk'ed on your account or cd key a person can click on your name in message/chat box when you join a game and see your real life name and address so that those of us that really dislike "griefers" could express our opinion on a more personal level All PKing does is force people to go to private games, which kind of defeats the purpose of a co-op online game.
If we have PVP Hardcore, PvP Softcore, PvE Hardcore, PvE Softcore, it's going to divide the community way too much.
That must be some tiny community if it can't be divided into 4. WoW has tons of tons of tons of different forms of servers. Diablo's community may be smaller, but it's not THAT small. Besides, the fact of choice will bring in more people anyway.

DIfferent than, say, USEast, USWest, Europe, Asia?
How do you divide a community that only has 8 people in a game at once? There will still be thousands of players on each server.
Using WoW as an example (since everything Blizzard does appears to be measured against it) - there are over 100 servers with 10,000-15,000 players on each. Never do you get a sense of there being less community. In many cases, there is more because you actually see familiar faces around.
If you look at diablo2 sales and project that even a fraction of those people try out d3, having enough people around will not be a problem. The end result will be that you actually are playing with people you want to play with.
By the way, yes the post is biased. The player vs player aspect of the game is what is going to drive my decision on whether or not to purchase it.
I kinda don't understand you, still. We have these divisions right now:
West, East, Asia, Europe
Sofcore, Hardcore, Ladder, Non-Ladder
I don't remember anyone saying community was divided or something. I am not exactly sure what it means, a divided community. I play with random people and I don't care what community they belong to as long as they are all good people.

People are not disputing against PvP only PKing.
I suppose it could work I just don't see them creating 4 different game worlds on each server. They said they want to work on cooperative play.
Quote from Bashiok »
We're - in general - not big fans of griefing for any game. It's really only "fun" for one person, and that definition of fun isn't generally something we're going to want to encourage. It's far more positive to encourage and support meaningful and skillful options and systems within a game, than a mechanic for people to instantly turn against one another for no meaningful gameplay reasons.
I definitely remember running with my friends, and someone toggles it, and bam everyone is dead and your one friend is laughing. Ok, ok, good joke I guess, and then you run back and *bam*, you've toggled it to get them back. After a while everyone usually agrees to a truce because it's just a waste of time. But I also remember running with random players and losing extremely nice items because of it, not cool. I'm sure that it was a feature that was right up some people's alleys, I won't deny there are some that would enjoy nothing more than to see others frustrated, but is that truly something that should be encouraged through design - if not directly opposed?
We have a large focus on cooperative play for Diablo III, and the mechanics and design decisions related to multiplayer are likely going to be based on supporting and encouraging it as much as possible, and not breaking it down.
That doesn't mean that PvP won't have its own focus, but those are details and features we aren't yet discussing.
It just seems like they don't like the idea of PKing at all, I don't know if they'll go out of their way with all that trouble just to appease the people that "would enjoy nothing more than to see others frustrated."

It just seems like they don't like the idea of PKing at all, I don't know if they'll go out of their way with all that trouble just to appease the people that "would enjoy nothing more than to see others frustrated."
So we'd have PvP softcore, PvP hardcore, PvE softcore, PvE hardcore, (POSSIBLY) PvP Ladder, and PvE ladder.
So that's 5-6 divisions on each realm.
I'm sure we will. It just seems like it's what they're working against.
