Return to the roots of the game to discover what D3 truly needs to be the only new-age action-RGP since D2.

Just a curious note about the gameplay trailer. At the 10 minute mark, just after the wall crumbles down, the merc yells out:
"What in the hells is that?"
He pluralized the word hell... and even in the talk box above his head it is spelled "hells". So it was deliberate that he meant to use the plural form.
Could this suggest that there may be more than one Hell in the world of Diablo? How would that work? Perhaps he could be referring to something like Dante's 9 circles of hell? Or perhaps it was nothing more than the script writer trying to convery a sense of "peasent slang" from the mercenary? What do you think?
Diablo isn't a Christian game. The Hells and Heavens are not definable so much as good or evil, so much as different levels of indifference. If you think all angels are like Tyrael, you're wrong. If you think all demons are like Diablo, you're also probably wrong though I haven't seen much conclusive proof to that note.
You have the Heavens and the Hells, which are essentially different planes in the whole nether of things. The Heavens contain things of a clockwork and orderly nature, with the archangels reigning supreme. The Hells on the otherhand are normally in a state of chaos with some consortium of triumvirate in the case of the Brothers normally holding power. The lore seems a bit ill-defined on the matter of how it came to be, at least the ingame lore, but the thing is that good and evil are simply words. Compared to WarCraft, Diablo has a really screwy canon to it.
By the way: It may be called the 'Hells' due to partitioning. You have Acheron, Charon, etc. All those little portals in Act 5 of D2 have their own forces and flags.
Oh my freagin' god, 3 pages of nonstop arguing on a simple question, christ...
For all of you flamers against the OP about starting this thread, you can rot in $%%. The OP is welcome to ask a question on these forums and there is no right whatsoever to flame him for it, unless your an arrogant and ignorant %$@#@! with no life whatsoever
Now onto the other side: I already solved this and I shall state it once more:
The 'Hell' in Diablo is know as the Burning Hells. The Mercenary yelling out "What in the Hells is that?" is referring to the Burning Hells in Diablo, but instead he used half of the term 'Hell' from the fact of the sudden jolt of adrenaline in the dungeoun, thus making it easier to use the term 'Hells' instead of the whole term...
OR
It could just be the Mercenary's accent, resulting in saying 'Hell's every time he experiences an emotional shock. But still referring to the Burning Hells, as there is no such thing as more than one Burning Hells. He could be referring to the number of sections in the Burning Hells, but nonethless, he is still referring to the Burning Hells as a whole by using part of the term 'Hells'.

Yes, the OP is welcome to ask a question just like all the people who replied are welcome to give their opinion and answer the question. I don't think anyone particularly flamed him directly.

Despite this being true or not I would not say you solved this, unless of course you work for Blizzard or have a quote from Blizzard. Just saying.. Its still your opinion.

Well unless you have a counter statement to my solution, then it's safe to say I have solved it. Until then, I am waiting

I have/had no intention of arguing with you, I was just clarifying for the fact of everyone else. If a problem is solved their is one definite answer. However you gave two possible answers, plus no one but Blizzard is for sure to the correct answer or if there is even an answer, it could be nothing.
In the Universe of Diablo I wouldn't be surprised if there were in a sense more than one Hell. The Burning Hells is plural so maybe there is another section of Hell. Maybe each Prime Evil/Lesser Evil controlls one section of Hell. I don't know but it's a possibility.

That would be sick.....but fun...haha

No.. it's time for you to go. The riddle has already been solved.
Lock it up!
Yes.. you guys are most likely right.
Jesus, just stop.

Yet the tone of MY posts are negative? Thanks for the invaluable insight..

As far as lore goes, Hell consists of outcasts from Heaven due to an ideological split.
Sanctuary was the middle ground and all those who would remain neutral stayed there.
Until Tyrael broke the Worldstone, that is.
I think Tyrael had darker motives for his actions.

The Burning Hells is divided into sections, but there is no such thing as being 2 seperated Burning Hells

You would still say Hells, because if you just said Hell the question would be which one, the side of the Lesser Evils or the Prime Evils.

Wait, wha? I was trying to end the flame, not fuel it
At times, that's even worse, unfortunately. Best left to the moderators.
