So, I installed Diablo I a few days ago just for the heck of it. Apart from the no-run issue its hella fun
Made this thread to discuss what from Diablo I you would like to see in Diablo III. Even though its an old game there are several things that are absolutely brilliant
A few thinks I like from DI I wouldnt mind seeing in D3 (in the same or some altered form)
1. You can see how many you killed of each type of monster
2. You need to kill a certain amount to see what resistances/immunities (15 in DI) a certain type of monster has. Furthermore you need to kill atleast 30 to see what hit points they have.
3. You can buy potions to increase you stats (the system need to be altered for DIII or else everyone would have insanely godly chars, but would give a nice twist so that everyone doesnt have the same chars (ZOMG I R TEH GAWDLEH HAMMAR!!1)
4. Its creepy!
5. Your statpoints has a limitation to how many points can be pumped into each stat. Seems reasonable... (no sorc with 500+ str/no ama with 500+ energy/no pala with 500+ energy etc.)
6. The Butcher is freaking awesome! Get him (or his son) back in DIII
Cant remember more atm. Ill prolly add more later on

he some sort of walking corpse .
he's absolutely invulnerable when invisible just the occasional moaning could be heard.
Then Out of nowhere he's beside you hitting you with his diseased hands
and PERMANENTLY reduce your vitality by 1 every time they hit you.
Bring back stone curse.
Instead of being a player castable skill
give it to diablo.
Ghabard the weak
There was this unique monster that ask you to kill the other race of monster, fallen if
i remembered correctly. He promised to give you a powerful item in return.
After clearing his enemies he gives you a lame item, double cross you while your still in the
chat mode.
I agree. I still play D1 to this day on a regular basis and I love the features there
You forgot shrines for one.
EDIT: Diablo 2 never had the pant-shitting moments like D1 had, like when you first opened the door to the Butcher's lair strewn with corpses, or bumping into Leoric himself in the dark after he'd curse you to serve him 'till eternity.. Oh man good times good times
"That's a BIG mushroom!"
EDIT2: And difficulty man! I want the game to be challenging! I wouldn't want to wade through hordes of monsters in a single click like in D2, I need to have balls to the wall hack n' slash action where if you get surrounded you're basically dead. In D2 the whole point is to get surrounded so you can unload your godly skills of aoe-power on them so they die in less than a second
-Kill counter (though it did reset at 500 in d1)
-The more monsters you kill the more you learn about them.
-Limitiations on Stats
-Elixirs of X Stat. (shouldn't matter too much if they get duped, which they will, as stats max out)
-Black death (enemies who drain Hit points when they attack you, andyou can't get them back)
-Actually wanting to buy a crappy item from a vendor. (WIth the warrior i use my 100gp starting gold and buy a crappy sword or shield that is better, much better than the hunk of crap you start with)
-Unique skills or abilities that only the one class can use, NO MATTER WHAT. NO GODDAMN ITEMS GIVING SORCS WHIRLWIND AND BLESSED HAMMER!!!!
-Characters have voiced dialogs at randomly occuring events. Like the dead hero on level 9, and more dialog while on quests.
"I'm sorry did I break you concertration" "That would kill me!" "I could blow up the whole village!" I'm not impressed" "May the spirit of Arkaine protect me" "Your madness ends here betrayer" "The spirits of the dead are now avenged" "I can see why they fear this weapon" "That's a big mushroom!"

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.

It still is an amazing game. I'm suprised over the years how few attempts to clone it have come around, and none as good.
I think when Diablo 3 was announced, the earth shook a little. The first 2 games are loved just THAT much by the gamers who played them.
I should reinstall it myself.

Petitions are bogus and invalid, when anyone can sign up multiple times using fake names. The end result is that valid concerns fail to get heard, when drowned out like this.
I've been playing Diablo 1 with a friend of mine and I like the kill counter but I don't think anything should change depending on how many you kill.. I think it should count the amount you kill of every monster and carry over into other games so you can keep track of how many you've killed of each monster on each difficulty.
I want the return of many monsters from Diablo 1 as well as 2. I want those big badass rhino men you find down in the catacombs and caves. Also, if there isn't some for of fallen/carver/devilkin and such I will be extremely displeased.
Mostly, I want item representations or tributes to things in the original 2 games. I want to be able to get King Leoric's sword/crown, the butcher's cleaver, Lazarus' staff etc...
Definite yes for devilkin; they are just so awesome.
I hope resistances work slightly differently so you don't meet monsters that are immune to everything on Hell level.
What are those?
The Warlord of Blood has really difficult since he is immune to all except physical, but I made a Sorceror so I just lured him away from the way down and went down without killing him, he he

Maybe something like this crazy would be cool.
I believe that was the Black Death, and it was a zombie type undead.
okok maybe change it to temporarily set str to Zero for 1 minute.
Suddenly you appear naked and punching with your fist cause you're to weak to use your
weapon and armor.
Just something i thought about while smoking.
