This is a take-off of my previous thread about class-specific items. Some of the posters thought that adding trophies to the game would add to the customization of your character and encourage accomplishments (i.e. kill X monsters to receive Y trophy). The trophies would be visible to other players but wouldn't add to stats or skills, but act more as bragging rights. Think Xbox 360 accomplishments.
How do you guys feel about this idea?

Why can't a heterosexual guy tell a heterosexual guy that he thinks his booty is fly?
But what I recall is 63% of the polls participant want a date with Deckard Cain as accomplishment reward.
That wasn't the one I was talking about.
That was like rewards for being the first for beating the game... and that thread did get kinda interesting. lol Shame if it was deleted. =\
The one I was talking about was for actual accomplishments.. I think it was made before the WWI DIII Announcements. That is, if I'm not mistaken..

Watching 240 guys talk trash about cavaliers is like two retards having a slapfight over a sippy cup.
I think "Titles" would be a better implementation. Similar to Tabula Rasa's "Targets of Opportunity Quests", Diablo 3 could employ a system that will award your character different titles when each mark is achieved.
I think that would be a great way to add diversity.

People seemed actually turned off by titles. They wanted some visible addition to their character, like a pelt for killing enough animal type monsters.

I just recently played CoD: 4 for the first time at my friends house on Xbox 360, and there is a good analogy to be made between this idea and the accomplishment there.
Like in CoD after X kills with weapon Y you get camouflage, red striping on weapon Y. So everyone can see that you reached X kills with that weapon. Just something to give people bragging rights.
The more I think about it, they could implement this system with PvP as well where you get a chain of ears on your toon and people can click on it to see all the people you've killed in PvP.

I would absolutely love to see accomplishments, along with a proper character profile system that includes all of your equipment, statistics (e.g. number of times you killed diablo), trophies/achievements and more.
It'd be great if it were all viewable on the web, too.
This sounds exactly like Hellgate London's achievements. Although I forget if you get anything when you complete an achievement... I remember you had to kill that one boss in act 2 1,000 times.. Like Sindhar or something. I got to max level in it in like a week then I stopped playing because I realize how crappy the game was and FSS released it when it was basically in beta stage.
Hmm, I don't mind the idea but then again the accomplishments aren't much different than in-game quests.
Killing monsters x-amount of times is going to happen anyway for most of us players.
Ya I wouldn't mind seeing achievements... As long as the rewards don't have an impact on the gameplay, and are just cosmetic, then I see no reason not to do it.

I like the idea of achievements. I like to try to get certain achievements on games before my friends do or I will try to go out and get one when one of my friends says that they can't get it. For me it adds to the game, giving me bragging rights with my friends and them with me as well.

I can't believe that CoD 4 doesn't have online achivements, I would totally have pretty much all of them by now if it did.
I had no idea HGL did this. I only played it in beta, and decided that it wasn't what I was looking for. Guess D3's announcement made waiting worth it =)

Not in the XBox Achievements sense, you do have Challenges, but they do not give you XBox Achivements, all of the Achievements are from the single player game.

Kill Mephisto 1000 times
Kill Pindleskin in less that 15 seconds from entering a game
I think that would be a great way to add diversity.
i loved those
adding achievments would add more fun imo
