Because you try to say a weapon of war is ungainly in a combat situation.
The short spear was designed for killing.
There will be killing in D3, I say bring in the javalins.
Exploding potions too, even though no one used those.
...
Serious question, did you even read any of my posts? What'd I say? It was within the lore of an amazon to use a bow and spear to kill its prey... but the bow should be used at range (bring it down), and the spear at close quarters (finish it off).
Frankly, I don't like any kind of thrown weapon, but my beef is with the fact that an entire skill tree was designed around one. Not the implementation of them altogether, the implementation of one entire skill tree devoted to them.
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.

I agree that javelins are an extremely odd weapon.
It _has_ been used in battle, but normally you throw a javelin and then charge in. You don't throw javelin after javelin after javelin after javelin.
I won't complain if they bring javelins back, but I wont use it since it's just too stupid.
You're 100% right. You would never throw javelin after javelin after javelin after javelin. It just doesn't make sense realistically. Realistically, we would all be hurling fireballs and calling down Ice from the sky to lay waste to creatures from hell. The greatest of champions would call a magical hammer out of thin air to spin around them in circles, killing anyone in its path. But yeah, throwing a javelin a few times is just getting out of hand.
I don't see why a character can't run around throwing javelin after javelin. Sure it's not realistic to carry that many javelins but since when is it realistic to carry 600+ arrows or bolts either?
I can't tell you how much I hated this weapon in D2. It was bad enough that they had the weapon at all, but then they implemented an entire line of skills around this piece of flotsam invention! Yeah, yeah, I know all about how "uber" those javazons were, but I just never could get past it. If you must implement this retarded weapon, please, for the love of all that is unholy, leave it as a simple skill (much like the barbarians had single skills for axes, swords and the like). Surely, you can come up with something more interesting than an entire skilltree based on one of the ugliest, most useless weapons ever conceived in an online video game.
Okay, I will take a deep breath now... does anyone agree with me? Please say so, because I'm sure everyone that disagrees will be in here post haste.
Regards,
SmashBoy (Like HellBoy, but not really)
wow calm down... lol
javazons are cool, and its great they implemented that

Hmph. I could have sworn the sarcasm in my previous post was more obvious than that.

Wait, so... casting spells over and over and over is any different? The fundamental philosophy of Diablo is spamming abilities. In saying that you don't agree with spamming javelins, it is the same concept as spamming spells since javelins can be enchanted. So shall we remove all projectiles from the game, then? When you used lighning strike or charged strike it was synonymous to using a sorceresses respective lightning abilities.
And javelins are very elegant weapons. They are even used in the Olympics because of the amount of finesse that is required to use them. What about throwing axes, is that bastardizing the axe? Is it just that they are ranged weapons? There is very little difference between a javelin and a spear or polearm or poleaxe or staff. That's like half the weapons in the game!

I dabbled with the javazon in my many MANY adventures on d2/LOD, i must say that when compared with "Guild Wars' spear chucking class" it fawking owns lol. Paragon or w/e i think it was, to add insult to injury some of the ppl that made d1 and d2 were the ones that created it and it was an epic fail. Keep the java~ wasnt my personal cup of tea but that was about the amazon class in general...i liked all of the skill trees and thought it to be creative and "neat". Anyway I cant agree with ya on removing that, if there is gonna be anything like an amazon this class should have something along the lines of javelins(sp?). Again, it all boils down to personal opinion

YES.

That's just wrong. Everything you mentioned, with the sole exception of the javelin, is a two-handed polearm (except the polearm, I guess, which in fact is a weapon classification, not an actual weapon) and not actually designed to be used at a distance, even though spears can and have been used in that fashion from time to time.
To the OP, I kinda understand what you're saying. When Javelins were used in war, weren't they only used in large numbers. I mean like, thrown by large groups of stationary people, to create a massive rain of javelins.
I don't see why one person would choose to lug around and hurl a huge sack of javelins, rather than just using a bow. I'm about to make a thread on a new ranger-type class, to replace the Amazon anyway. I've come up with a weapon to replace the Jav.
eh i didnt have a problem with them... just the fact that the amazon could makelightning with one... i can understand like... lighting it on fire and throwing it or putting poison on it but making electricity with them i ddint like

That's nice. An opinion you don't like = a troll, automatically? Thanks for your [lack of] contribution to the thread.
Makes no sense to me.
by your logic there should be no bow using characters

Lol, i just realized that... damn i'm stupid. :/
ok blizz, javs can stay.

No. By that logic, an entire skilltree shouldn't have been devoted to bows. There is a huge difference.
Frankly, I'm somewhat in agreeance with that assertion, as well.
